I've just bought some ZEIT on YoBit because of the low price and I like the idea/community.

However, got a bit concerned since coinmarketcap doesn't list YoBit as a ZEIT exchange. Did I just buy somebody's rip off fake coin?

Read the 1st post of this thread, it warns not to use YoBit - as far as I know, it's because their wallet is never sync'd - and you can't withdraw, but I've never used that exchange so I can't say for sure.

Due to our recent price spike a month or so ago.

Their are many members that feel going to ULI , is unnecessary and want to stay at the 5% forever.

It has come to my attention, that some of those plan a split (like ETH/ETC) once ULI goes into effect , basically causing a civil war in the Zeit community.

I personally feel ULI would have helped ZEIT reach its Destiny sooner than staying at the 5% rate.
However due to my inability to actually get the ULI activated and the possibility of splitting this great community in half.

I have no choice but to withdraw my future efforts to get ULI activated.
From here on out , my only purpose here will be keeping the snapshot updated.

I asked Zeitcoin to remove the ULI from the OP as no one will be attempting it's activation now,
and the 5% rate will be Final and Forever as originally intended.

I still Believe ZEIT will reach it's goals with the help of the Knights, it will just be at a slower pace.

Good Day, everyone.

 Cool

I support the ULI.  I have had enough Zeit to become a Knight but have not.  If this is something that the Knights control, then if becoming one I will when the window opens again.

What is a ULI? Would that cut down the total number of coins each person owns? Just curious. If someone owns 500k coins, would it potentially become 250k? Just wondering how this would work. Thanks

It would not affect the amount of coins you currently have.

FYI:
If your wallet is not Encrypted, ie: you don't have to unlock it to stake.
It can slow down your initial syncing dramatically.
To correct this you can encrypt your wallet or if you don't want to encrypt your wallet,
run zeitcoin with the following parameters, zeitcoin-qt.exe  -gen=0  , this will sync without trying to stake, once you are fully synced ,
restart zeitcoin normally to stake your coins, Smiley

Thanks for the service, information, and effort you put into this.  It's much appreciated by many of us.

@msdoter7

In reference to the incentive to stake question.

The Knights will have to stake to protect their investment.

I will pay 250,000 ZEIT every month to 8 nodes (non knights) that will stake 24x7.

In addition , the ZEIT Joust Game will pay out a 120,000 ZEIT per week to the three addresses that win the Block Joust.
(Anyone can win, even exchanges)

So is this not enough incentive to stake, plus the facts the price of the coin will no longer go down in price only Up.

So those that do accept the 250,000 per month, if they wait til ZEIT reaches a penny would have received $2500 for staking monthly.  Cheesy

One year of doing this will cost me ~42 million ZEIT directly out of my pocket and I will do it gladly so we can defeat BTC.
And if needed, I have enough coins to go a 2nd year, before it would compromise my status as a Knight.

So msdoter7 what do you think?

 Cool

I can run a wallet 24/7 on a spare pc.  Is there anything else needed besides running the wallet or any special requirements?

If you want to change pos rate to 1% . Than do it better in 1 year .

Thanks for your comments.

1% is still too high,
ZEIT is such a massive coin that even 1% would be over 6½ million coins per month. (At current staking rates)
That in 1 month is six times the total supply of other coins.

We would have to go down to 0.0005% (0.000005) per year,
that would leave us only gaining ~ 180,000 new coins per year (basically ~15000 new coins per month).

The stronger we tackle the inflation issue, the sooner our value per coin can begin to increase.
Even if we did it today, it is still going to takes months before it has a noticeable effect in the markets.

Lion brought up a good point that in TRW, 5% interest on Bank accounts was the norm.
However the reason the banks were able to do that is they were loaning out multiple times the amount of their deposits and Charging Higher interest rates on those loan above the 5%, we have no such system in place here, which is why we have to control inflation to offset the damage that an ever increasing supply can cause.

 Cool

FYI:
It all comes back to this,
Do you want a coin with very little inflation , that the Price can rise per coin?
or
Do you want a coin with 5% inflation, that the price is always in decline?
You have more coins but each coin has less value as time goes on.

FYI2:
Look at all of the people buying up BTC, just to hold receiving 0% interest,
we have to go ultra low inflation , if we are going to beat BTC. (There is just no other way around it.)

FYI3:
Monday BTC generated only 1,728 new coins
Monday ZEIT generated 8,623,833 new coins.
Our price will forever be crushed by the inflation, unless we switch ,

After the switch to an ultra low inflation rate of 0.0005% per year,
BTC still generates 1,728 new coins
ZEIT generate only ~500 coins per day.
Our price verses BTC & Fiat would rise.  Wink

Sounds like a good plan that needs to be implemented sooner rather than later.
Isn't this one of the reasons the Knights were created?  Make it so Knights.

Re: Scam report: faucetgame.com

Hi there,

faucetgame.com - Scam project. Why:

This site have not any provably fair and positioning as "site without any deposits". Yes it is true BUT the owner SELL a lot of ads spaces on site and earning from it money in the time when a lot of people playing on his casino and all the time loosing. So mexicantarget just using human resources to make money from ads clicks.  Undecided

He should add provably fair to his casino that people do not wasting their time. Because now it is just exploitation and deceptionAngry

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1317322

Thanks.

Quit being a crybaby.

I play on this site, along with other sites that do take deposits. And as far as I'm concerned, I could give a rat's ass if this site is provably fair. Why? Because I haven't made a single deposit to the site. Why not? Because it's a FAUCET site.

So with that said, I have earned enough from playing games to be able to level up my account. I have even made a withdrawal DIRECTLY to my FaucetBox account, just to prove that the site pays. And guess what? It was an instant withdrawal.

If you're trying to call a website a scam, especially a faucet, make sure that the site doesn't pay its users. Because that's what makes a faucet site a scam, NOT that this free game site is not provably fair.

Your argument is completely invalid. Oh, and

TYPING IN HUGE ALL RED CAPS MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT.

I can vouch for what BTCforJoe says, the site is not a scam.
There is a very good faucet system with bonuses and you can play a few games at the same time - and it's profitable.  Also, the admin (mexicantarget) is very helpful and almost always available, what more can you possibly ask for?

Don't take my word for it, go see for yourself and you will know for a fact that it is not a scam, numbers don't lie.

Re: [ANN] MANDATORY UPDATE ██ ZEITCOIN MOVEMENT [FULLY POS] ██
by

on 03/01/2015, 06:33:22 UTC
I find the wallet uses about 50% CPU which is to much for me running from a laptop, others have this issue?

If you are on a dual processor your average should be ~20 to 25% cpu.
But here are some previous post to help decrease cpu usuage.

To keep your stake,
In coin control , every few days or weekly, look at the blocks , click on confirmations, this will sort the blocks, select some of the ones with the lowest confirmations, and send them to your default receive address (You will have to copy & paste your default receive address into send field, no way to add it your send address book Yet.) By selecting the lowest confirmations you only combine coins that have staked recently and they won't lose more than a few days from their maturity.

Or if CPU is more important than POS Stake , then combine them immediately.
Lower the # of Blocks , less CPU it uses.

Below is a post that confirms it works.
Follow up to using coin control to reduce the amount of blocks and reducing cpu use.  It works!
_______________________________________________________________________________ ____
2 weeks ago I had over 8000 blocks and my cpu was at 19.3%
I started combining blocks with the goal of getting down to 100.  There was no noticeable change in cpu until I got down to 900 blocks, this takes time if you want to preserve your coin age and I figure I will be down to about 80 blocks in 2 more weeks.

Currently sitting at 140 blocks and cpu use is at 5%, which is a big improvement - thanks for the tips!

Anyone who has high cpu use with the wallet might want to use the coin control and start consolidating the blocks into a smaller number, it's definitely made an improvement for me.

_______________________________________________________________________________ ________

Only other factor would be if you are running it in a VM.

 Cool

That was my wallet with over 8000 blocks, here is another follow up to reducing cpu use, the number of blocks and the size of the wallet.dat file itself.

That original wallet.dat file increased in size to over 13mb so I decided to move all of the coins to a new wallet.dat after they staked, this took some time (20 days to not lose coin age) and during the process I maintained 2 wallet.dat files and kept renaming them back and forth until I had all coins moved to the new wallet.dat.

The original wallet.dat which is now empty with a balance of 0 coins is still 13.7 meg.  The new wallet which has all of my coins in 3 blocks is 300kb, and cpu use is 2-3%.  Added bonus is that the reduced size wastes less space on the SSD drive as well as on the usb thumb drives used as backups.  It's working great and the larger blocks stake instantly once they hit 20 days.

Now if Cryptsy would actually fix their wallet I could get some more coins staking, it's been in maintenance mode far too long.

Iám nominate the Dev of the most unique and next generation coin Magi (XMG)
Joe Lao!
He has succeeded to bring true innovation in the altcoinwereld. He is the only developer of a M7M coin. This coin will be the future and perhaps the little brother of BTC.
Check out what Magi (XMG) has achieved in a period of two months without IPO or Premine!

Also voting for Joe Lao, the dev of Magi.

Friendly and nice dev that have good ideas!

Follow up to my high cpu % use.

Things I did but had no effect:
Made exclusion rules for Kaspersky and Malwarebytes = results were the same, no change.

Next, I removed the wallet.dat and let a new wallet be created, this did fix the high cpu % (now at 1.5% from 19.3%) but did not change any of the other stats, it still takes over 4 minutes to open and of course has a zero balance.  So, I reloaded the original wallet and turned on the coin control, I appear to have over 8000 blocks - I'm guessing this is the issue since kiklo mentioned getting the blocks down to 75.

I think it will be easier to just send all the coins from the original wallet to a new wallet in large amounts, rather than messing with all the coin control check boxes, any suggestions on this?

Also, what is the minimum coin age for staking?  I really dislike the idea of losing all my mature coins in order to reduce cpu % so I'll leave the wallet open and staking for a day or two before I do this.

OS - Win8.1 Pro 64bit
CPU - AMD FX-6350 @ 4.0Ghz
RAM - 8GB
Internet Bandwidth - 30Mb/5Mb
Antivirus - Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 and Malwarebytes Pro which constantly blocks Zeitcoin connections.
Country - USA
Time to load - 4:33
Active connections after 1 minute - 5
Active connections after 10 minutes - 9
Time of day - 22:50
Performance readings - ZeitcoinQT - 19.3% CPU steady,  306.9 MB ram
Staking enabled.

The Zeitcoin wallet has always used significantly more resources than any other wallet, for reference, all other wallets use 1% on this pc. (all other wallets were closed for this experiment).

Malwarebytes rarely blocks connections from other wallets but it has an issue with the Zeitcoin wallet and blocks a connection on average of every 35 minutes.

I have been having connection and staking issues for about a week, think I have it sorted out now, here's what I did.

First, I have these nodes in my zimstake.conf
addnode=74.255.67.180
addnode=74.255.67.181
addnode=74.255.67.182

Second, add this line to the zimstake.conf, it will disable staking until you get sync'd and get a few more nodes to show up.

staking=0

After you get sync'd, and more connections - maybe 15 minutes, turn staking back on by editing that line to

staking=1

save the conf file, close the wallet and re-open.  You should still be sync'd, still have the connections, and staking will begin within a few minutes.

Leave that line in the conf file and change back and forth as needed, this is working for me, hope it helps.
