Re: Altcoins worth investing
by

How do you guys select the ones with the potential?
What sites do you check?
What are your criteria?
Do you have some system?

I believe you have incentive to share this information because more of us invest in one coin, more the price is. Smiley

I am working on a model/method for quantifying this type of evaluation. It will turn into a whitepaper eventually but the first thing you need to decide is how you are trying to invest in coins, e.g. short term or long term. Even that decision is riddled with controversy.

People's motives for trading are very different so their motives for sharing information will also be as varied.

Re: [ANN] ReferralCoins - Digital Money for the Referral Marketing Industry
by
ReferralFoundation
on 31/01/2017, 01:26:30 UTC
looks like with multi level marketing, right? and total coins 1 billions, its vey much, still not understand what this coin advanteges and why we should buy it

This is a digital currency dedicated to the referral marketing/network marketing/multilevel marketing industry.

There are many advantages in what ReferralCoins can accomplish for the referral marketing industry. We will be releasing more specific details about our plans as they progress.

The path to success for ReferralCoins will become clear very quickly and we encourage people to join our efforts and build our community.

A referral is basically word of mouth marketing. Usually its an agreement between two professionals in different industries whom refer their clients to one another. How does crypto help this basic agreement?

This is a great question that warrants a thoughtful response. A quality post will follow.

In the meantime we are curating a list of media exposure we have gained so far and will be posting it here and at the website. We will post that in addition to our recent popularity contest success.

Re: Is the altcoin era over ?

I think it also depends what you call an altcoin.

In generaly will be more and more altcoins. But lots will not have own blockchain but will use other asset platforms and will basically be an asset and not an altcoin, like are now MAIDSAFECOIN, AUGUR, ICONOMI, GOLEM, ARDOR, BITCRYSTALS, NEXIUM, ...

Well, thats a good point Febo. I think of alts as any block chain based token that isn't bitcoin. I'm guessing that most others here do too.

This thread seems to be evolving into a discussion of the relationship between innovation and altcoin adoption at the moment. There have been a couple of different points of view expressed, some of which sound like unsupported absolutist statements, others which contain a degree of hopium, and yet others which sound pragmatic to me. So lets look at the different positions:

1) Innovation is irrelevant to altcoin adoption because
  • There is no such thing as innovation
  • Innovation is just marketing hype designed to scam yet more money out of punters
  • Innovation happens, but it doesn't improve adoption

2) Innovation is important because
  • The adoption difficulties we have observed with bitcoin are a result of some functional failures (privacy, transaction rate, block size, blockchain size) that innovation could solve
  • There are new application areas beyond store-of-value/currency-tokens (soft contracts, data security, etc) that are useful and not currently directly supported by bitcoin.

Can both positions be right ?

This is where the conversation gets potentially interesting and divergent.

Yes they can. Adoption and innovation are separate from each other. Each have an effect on the other but neither is dependent on the other.

Hopefully this discussion will continue along these lines and not degrade.

Re: Most User Friendly Cross-Platform Mobile Cryptocurrency Wallet(s)?
by
ReferralFoundation
on 30/01/2017, 16:58:48 UTC
WeChat is a very unique example of an app. WeChat has emerged from how people in China use the Internet and how it has become integrated into their society. Adoption of cryptocurrency within WeChat would create users but the users of WeChat don't need cryptocurrency because of the massive level of vertical integration that has occurred within the WeChat system. It could be viewed as the complete opposite to crypto because it is so centralized but cryptocurrency solves different types of problems.

Creating a mobile wallet app for crypto is not a major undertaking but the motivation behind that undertaking needs to be defined to make it worthwhile. A wallet is one way for people to transact with their cryptocurrency but the reasons for making those transactions are what matters.

Re: Has anybody used Tether?
by
ReferralFoundation
on 30/01/2017, 16:38:21 UTC
I have used it a few times for transferring USD across exchanges that accept it. For that purpose it is great and worked fine for me.

We haven't reached the point where USD transactions are completely irrelevant, yet, so Tether is a good service.

Re: When does a coin become officially dead?
by
ReferralFoundation
on 30/01/2017, 16:35:53 UTC
If there are no nodes then coins can't be transferred so the coin could be considered dead. But if nodes came back and coins could be transferred again (highly unlikely) then the coin could be raised from the dead.

Without liquidity a coin is dead. It doesn't need to be on exchanges, people can still trade OTC, etc. but if no one wants to trade anything for it, regardless of nodes, it's dead.

People have to take interest but those people create the above two things, so... No people = dead.

Now, as the price of Bitcoin is over 1000 $ /EUR , Widget shows €27,16 not €1027,60!

Update: Nevermind! Price is back into 3 digits range!  Wink

Nevermind four digits, what about when Bitcoin hits $10K?

I saw a pos algo so I'm sure it's going to be a big ico in the making, the supply is very huge if he put it at at 100 sats then he better hold the ico on Yobit, people are very much scared on ico here especially those without escrow

The coin pre-sale for ReferralCoins is actually very modest in comparison to many others that have happened previously.

Fortunately our pre-sale is being handled by a reputable exchange so that makes things easier all around.

The supply is reasonable with a more detailed explanation coming soon. The entry price is very low to create as much opportunity for people as possible as early as possible.

You are already posting an [ANN], then at least put some detailed info about the proj. & not the generic one.
And you are having such an enormous supply of your coin! What's the logic behind that? Just wondering...

We will be following up on specifics for different parts of our ecosystem as they become available. There is a lot of information that will be coming out soon to help explain our approach.

This information will also be building on previously released documentation. ReferralCoins is a practical application of some more generic concepts related to cryptocurrency development and deployment.

The OP will be updated to reflect new information. Feedback from users will be helpful to us in determining release priority for information.

Typically people like to know the purpose of the coin and general stats which is the nature of the first post. Additional specifics such as milestones, partnerships and other significant developments will be released as we move forward.

We are looking to involve people from the earliest stages to help everyone grow and succeed.

On the subject of the coin supply... Knowing this would come up, there will be an upcoming article about this subject so rather than reply here I will save that response for when the article is ready Smiley

well said! at least you're one of the devs that has better writing skills.  Smiley
i'll just be watching your coin for now. will be checking the sincerity of your proj or if it is just using an idea that in reality there's nothing into it!

so let's see then what you've got...

Challenge accepted Wink

This is an effort worthy of watching and also joining. We are creating as much opportunity as possible for everyone along the way.
