This has the potential to ruin the coin or result in it coming back stronger than ever. We still hold the remaining 70% so as long as vericoin holders continue to be so active, we're just fine here. Also keep in mind that exchanges will definitely update to the new wallet, and quite a bit was being held in exchanges, so it's not quite as difficult as it appears to reach 51%.

I personally am very excited by this. I know this may be a scary time for the people who currently have VRC missing, but think of the precedent this is setting!

Never in the history of money has there been the ability to just "Rollback" to a point prior to a theft. This is like if bank robbers got away with 2 million dollars, and the next day the money was back in their vault, while the robbers are now magically holding worthless monopoly money.

This really has the potential to change the way that the world sees crypto - it is a tangible benefit that fiat money will never be able to provide. If it goes off smoothly I have no doubt we'll see this in Forbes at the minimum, since they already are fairly crypto-friendly.

It looks like this coin has suffered a failed pump of gigantic proportions.

Some big players on the P&D scene are going to lose a lot on this one.

It is sad looking at my coins loosing its value, I have only 320 VRC which I bought last week for 0.00046. But for me it is a lot of money. I wonder whether the price ever returns to that level.
unfortunately big traders rules it all.
Whales are dumping their coins like there is no tomorrow.
Perhaps it is too late. I lost my money again.

You didn't lose it unless you sold at a loss. It will go back up. Ignore the FUD.

based on the activity, I'm pretty sure that one was additional fud.

FYI everybody, we are unlikely to get to 100K with a slew of hesitant short term investors.  This is the nature of markets.  Many things are in the works and nearly ready for launch.

No sweat here. As long as you keep building it, they will come. People can continue to fud and panic sell and continue treating this like just another altcoin. I'll happily hang tight for the foreseeable future, and many others will as well.

Greetings everyone,

Thought I would introduce myself and say hello.

I'm completely new to crypto and have only been involved for a couple of days so far, but I can see the potential, it's not hard to see where this is going..................

I had obviously heard of Bitcoin before, but I never paid much attention to it, I became more curious about bitcoin after reading some FB articles, and watching some alternative media new channels, it seemed way to complicated for me, as I only had a basic understanding of money and economics etc.

However........TeeGee  introduced it to me and pointed me in the right direction which made it a lot easier, and made a whole lot more sense.

I vote on Mintpal whenever I can, which is at least 6 times per day, sometimes more.

I'm a complete amateur, and I have a lot to learn, but I am probably just as excited as everyone else should be at this stage of the game.

Welcome to the party! Glad to have ya here.

Nicely done devs. Super smooth update. If it took a short delay to make things go that smoothly and get it done right, I say rock on.

Can anyone put together a step by step process on how to securely place your veri in the wallet and allow them to stake with out the possibility of getting them stolen?

Sorry I'm extremely paranoid when it comes to not keeping my crytpo in a paper wallet Undecided

You could stake from multiple wallets to help mitigate the risk a bit.

Apparently the dumping isn't quite over.  Someone just dumped over 200,000 DNotes on Poloniex.

I'd rather have a bit more substantial correction now than continued growth to the point that when the real correction finally hits it sets us back weeks. With a long term coin like this, it strengthens the base of holders every time - gradually funneling more coins away from weak hands and into long term holders. I say bring on the bear for a bit. I'll happily keep staking.

How do I know if my coins are staking?  I've had some in my wallet for over a day now but nothing showing in the "Stake"...

In the lower right corner, you'll see the vericoin logo. If you mouse over it you'll be able to see whether your staking, and if not, why. More than likely you aren't if you encrypted your wallet or just recently deposited - you need to hold for 8 hours and need to have the wallet unlocked.

You won't see anything in the Stake section until an interest payout actually occurs.

I'm new around here so I probably missed the hype that has ppl in an uproar about this new wallet, but aren't we talking about a coin that's only a month and a half old here?! It's unfortunate that the target was missed but it's not like this is a deadline that was going to make or break the coin. If it happened habitually that'd be one thing, but once in a rare while is completely understandable, particularly since for most of us, cryptocurrency isn't our first job.

Throughout the day not a shred of doubt it would be done. And then it was not. That is the only issue.

IMO Developers could to air on the side of caution rather than telling everyone its going to be out x day and then no word until the deadline passes. All day yesterday people on twitter had the chance to temper down expectations. Instead, they kept getting increased.

The roadmap said these would be released before if all work was done. So, all the hype that went into it, and not 1 bit of a heads up things might not be released that day. I mean why not come out and say, issues are happening, our devs could really use the extra 24 hours to put out a premium wallet.

Trust is very important in the crypto community.

I think we've all been bitten too often by scam coins to the point of becoming paranoid. Vericoin development's track record has been very good thus far. I got in late solely because I was seeing a lot of "too good to be true" but even I was sold on it. I think the least we can do is give them a bit of latitude with one missed target and some undercommunicating. Those issues can easily be corrected in the future.

Obviously though, if a month from now, the wallet still has never been released, I'll be singing a different tune, but that's a whole different problem by that point.

Tiny bit of dumping from me the last couple days, sorry about that guys. I missed the Vericoin ride once, wasn't about to miss it again. Waves should be over from me though, and still happily holding plenty of DNotes. Any buyers, congrats, you made a sound investment Cheesy .

Miners have to eat once in a while too Smiley

I'm glad you still have plenty of DNotes!

Rek, don't feel bad. I had to do the same thing. Need to create some BTC fast for an innovative purchase I was making, and needed a certain BTC amount by two Sundays ago (June 15). I had to sell a bunch of DNotes, and of course the price has pretty much doubled since then.

So sadly I'm no longer a DNotes millionaire, but still am happily holding quite a lot.

In fact, I've got a ton of LTC now, and am thinking about switching all of them to DNotes. LTC is getting crushed and I don't see any reason it's going to turned around.

LTC has everything to lose right now, so probably wouldn't be a bad call. BTC has mainstream recognition that will keep it top dog for a very long time, but LTC is completely unknown when even compared to something like doge that isn't even intending to be taken seriously.

So much talk about corrections and bear traps and etc etc etc. I'm surprised we don't have more people staking. I guess I got in a bit late (20k-40k) so I'm a bit less motivated to sell, but is there really that little confidence among some holders that VRC will last? Everything I've seen thus far says it'll be top 3 market cap by the end of the year, and has a very reasonable shot at overtaking LTC down the road.

I haven't checked out the light wallet as of yet. We were considering a web wallet as a way to get new people interested without having to use a desktop wallet. Eventually, even if you use a web wallet, you will want to use a desktop client, for higher security or storage, though there are other options here as well. Making the desktop client more user friendly will be helpful when you get to that point.

Then perhaps something as simple as a distraction while the blocks are loading. Remember Windows XP & 7 installs? There is a moving bar showing completion status but also a box with constantly changing information to read while the install continues, just to distract you from how long the install is taking!  Smiley

Haha Cheesy love it!

Unfortunately if the older/larger coins are any indication, we may need more than just a visual distraction, like Google Fiber going nation-wide. I have 50 down/10 up internet and the bitcoin blockchain still takes about half a day for me whenever I need to sync the blockchain on a new drive. I definitely agree with your fundamental point though, syncing with the blockchain needs to be significantly streamlined in order for mainstream adoption to occur. Your average user won't be too happy with a wallet eating up 30GB of their harddrive for some unknown reason either. That's the fun of crypto though, SO MUCH room for improvement. It's very exciting that we get to be in on it at the ground level.

Rekatan, and this goes for everyone, we would love people to get more actively involved in development such as creating an open source light wallet. Just bare in mind, we would need a good amount of time to review the source and compile it for ourselves to really be able endorse it.

Great, and I honestly am not even concerned if it's endorsed/released or not. If it doesn't get the stamp of approval internally I'll just call it a learning experience and either revise it or move on if it's not worth the time. I just wanted to first make sure that it wasn't something you already had in the works before I got started.

Added two new nodes. I had them available last night but wanted to ensure they updated. Here is the list.

addnode=n4.dnotescoin.com
addnode=n5.dnotescoin.com
addnode=128.199.239.199
addnode=95.85.44.200
addnode=162.243.225.90

The initial downloading of the blockchain is, in my opinion, a big stumbling block on the road to adoption. People don't like to wait especially if its something they are trying and don't really know about yet. I'm not a Dev but, have been in the industry mot of my life and this holds true everywhere: Quick=Adoption=Stability=Profit

Here's an idea: could the standard wallets be modified to download a compressed file containing the latest blockchain data current up to say a day or so old? This file could be automatically updated at the source daily. The file could be made available on a large download site with plenty of bandwidth so it would be fast download, seconds vs what we see now. Immediatly following download the wallet would go out and grab blockchain data only from the point a which the file left off.

-or-

Add latest blockchain data to the wallet files so it comes with the download and again, after install, pick up the rest of the chain?

Just something think on, there must be a better way to do this part. Sounds complicated I know but it could be a fully automated process.

I don't know all the ins and outs of it, but I believe the blockchain is all or nothing. Bitcoin does have some light wallets that bypass downloading the blockchain entirely though, as does Dogecoin I know off the top of my head. Someone with more technical know-how will have to weigh in on this one, but a dnotes light wallet certain wouldn't be a bad idea (though the less users who download the blockchain, the less available connections for those of us who have).

*EDIT*

Actually if no one is already working on one, I would be interested in writing a light wallet. It would be in my spare time and learning as I go, but there's a lot of transferable skills there that I need to learn sooner or later, and DNotes has been good to me thus far, so I should start giving back.

Can a dev let me know their thoughts on this? PM is fine if you'd prefer, and I completely understand if you're uncomfortable with a newbie using it as a learning experience Cheesy .
