Um, why would it not be a good idea to just do this with bitcoins? You've got more chance of loosing your  money investing in crapcoins. There is great potential for profit just by holding bitcoins long term though you could sell them and buy back with every rise and fall.

Holding will likely make you the most money in the long term but obviously nothing in the short term. I believe in 2-5 years bitcoin will be worth multiples of what it is now so I think it'd be wise to save, but in the meantime you could try trading for profit. Risky to do this though.

You can get a virus from any wallet or miner software. People will try hack sites to upload a malicious version and people frequently try to post them on here to try dupe people into downloading them. This is why I don't really bother with new alts are they're largely a waste of time anyway/

Yes, because they are a digital currency. You can stop calling them altcoins if you wish though and just call them cryptocurrencies instead. Maybe altcoin will go out of fashion eventually but you can't really force people to change but you can lead by example.

He's referencing the guy who purchased a pizza on here for a massive sum of coins back in the day. It ended up being a million dollars or something for the purchase (though likely much less with todays price). I wouldn't want to spend any of my coins just in case bitcoin skyrocketed again.

I think people get the two types of banks mixed up. There's the central banks that issue the money and then the regular banks that give ordinary people loans and hold their savings etc. It could in theory get rid of the central banks because we don't need them to issue our money any more and others could be prohibited from creating it out of thin air themselves though loans etc. If they haven't got the cash or coins to make a loan then they can't load any money because if it's not on the blockchain then they don't own it.

I think the average user may be concerned about keeping their coins safe but I don't think it will have much effect on the price, though adoption will rise along with new wallet technology so if it happens it will be coincidental.

I think it's only a matter of time before the price starts to creep back up. Alt coins may follow along with it but I dpn't see much gains for alts personally but do with bitcoin. Bitcoin has big money and merchants getting behind it and alts dont.
