it's funny how authorities respect the 1st amendment a little more than the 2nd it seems, considering that the 2nd is so much more strictly worded. 1st amendment  , or at least the first part of it, just says "congress shall pass no law" abridging free speech rights.    2nd amendment says "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed," implying a much wider cross-section of the government may not bother you over it.

police didn't exist until, what, 1850 or so?   somehow the world managed to lift itself out of the longest dark age in recorded history without them, maybe we don't need them.   Certainly we don't need to be taxed to fund them.

Re: NH: Bill would let state agencies accept crypto

sorry for slow response. in answer to the question, I would put the chances of the bill's passage into law at about 40 percent this year.   It has now passed the committee unanimously , which means it will likely pass the full House.  But it then has to pass the senate and then get not-vetoed by the governor.  that's three more total hurdles, most bills get stopped somewhere along this process but there is no clear opposition to crypto in the NH elected government.  I would assume some of the bureaucracies must be against it since they'd have to do some work to implement crypto acceptance.

NH allows guns in schools, bill aims to change this
by

New Hampshire has no law forbidding non-pupils from carrying firearms on school grounds.   Perhaps in part because of this, there has not yet been a major school shooting in New Hampshire.  I can't even name a minor one.

A new bill aims to change the legal framework somewhat, though I'm not sure it would create a situation where guns could become outright illegal on school grounds. As the summary from Legislative Services puts it:

"This bill allows a school district, school administrative unit, or chartered public school to adopt and enforce a policy regulating firearms, firearms components, ammunition, firearms supplies, or knives within its jurisdiction."

Bill text: https://legiscan.com/NH/text/HB101/id/1833256

One worrisome question would be this: Just how big *is* a school district's "juristiction?" Could schools create a situation where they are forbidding guns in a wider area than expected?  And what exactly would "enforce' mean?

Between now and roughly late Feb. 2019, if you live here you can take action to oppose this bill which would endanger children, details on some of your options are below.

According to the link above, the public hearing is slated for 02/13/2019 09:00 am
After that it is still possible to weigh in before the vote occurs (probably around late Feb.) This link lets you email the committee members: http://www.gencourtmobile.com/2019/hb101

it seems like open carry is good for general deterrance in an area...or generating discussion, especially if you're publicizing it yourself.  google new hampshire open carry litter pickup.
concealed carry is probably better for maintaining surprise in an actual fight that someone starts with you.  each has its place.

NH: Liberty Alliance fights to keep legislator salaries at $100/year
by
RidleyReport
on 30/01/2019, 19:55:24 UTC
No, the headline is not missing any zeroes... New Hampshire lawmakers really do get paid just 100 dollars a year, plus mileage.

The New Hampshire Liberty Alliance is trying to keep it that way by opposing a proposed constitutional amendment that would open a path to increasing this amount.  This amendment would, in their view, threaten the state's tradition of a what amounts to an  all-volunteer legislature.

If you live in state you can contact the committee that will vote on this, at HouseLegislativeAdministration@leg.state.nh.us
I'm projecting that February 4th would be roughly the deadline for contacting them before they decide.

Does your state have an organization that tracks and fights nearly every anti-liberty (not just anti-Republican) move by your legislature? If not, move to NH where we do!

Also there's the good old fashioned peacable protest.   as they say, if police were not afraid of simple first amendment demonstrations, they would not react so hysterically to them on so many occasions.

https://www.coindesk.com/new-hampshire-bill-would-...

The New Hampshire Liberty Alliance (http://NHLiberty.org) is backing a bill aimed at widening crypto adoption in the state. The alliance is the only institution I'm aware of that comprehensively rates a state's bills and legislators for how pro-liberty they are.

I believe at least one of the sponsoring reps is a free stater (a person who migrates to NH for the purpose of liberty activism). The number of free staters in the legislature has been hovering between 10 and 20 over the last decade; most win election as Republicans or Democrats.

The Alliance is encouraging in-state supporters of the bill to make their position known by emailing relevant legislators before roughly Feb. 4, 2019:

nah there are many ways to limit police.  Filming them is the obvious one, in more or less everyone's power in the West.  If it were ineffective, why do they react so negatively to it in so many cases?

But I do "tech"nically agree with tec... passing laws is a questionable way to fix problems.  If someone does submit a bill, you can sometimes  use it as an opportunity to generate debate.  Or, in our case, remind people that there is a liberty struggle going on in new hampshire and that they are invited to move here and join it.

With U.S. police killing about 1,000 people a year
compared to German police who kill about four
I can appreciate the spirit of this bill.

https://legiscan.com/NH/text/HB218/id/1833526

Some of the Stockholm syndromers online are upset that the bill comes from "liberty Republicans."  In New Hampshire, Republicans are more  libertarian than in most places and really do want to limit the govt.

One of the state reps who i think promised to keep carrying ... has now been banned from exercising his first amendment rights as well.

From state rep John Burt's facebook post 1/17 roughly:

"Attention Pro Second Amendment folks. I need help. I need people with video cameras to help me. Please Share.

Anti Gun bills are coming to the House Criminal Justice committee and the Chair today has BANNED me from taking videos or photos from my seat. See video below.

I told him I will still take them. He went and brought the Speaker in to the committee which the Speaker said, If I keep taking pictures the committee can and will take a vote to remove me by force if needed.

The chair last term sat next to me and took several pictures. Picture 2 - 6 are the pictures I took this week. Many Reps takes pictures. This is to stop the Anti Gun bills from being posted on Youtube for the NH citizens to see. Please help me.

Do not get me wrong, I like the Chair and the Speaker but what they are doing is wrong. This is the first time I have ever heard of anyone being banned from taking a video or pictures at the NH State House.

Here is the video of the vote. Watch what Rep Welch said at minute 4:40. Thank you Michael Yakubovich for the video.
