THE BENEFITS OF IMBALANCE

THE BENEFITS OF IMBALANCE

Almost all commentators on "cultural imperialism" treat a recipient culture as if it is static, all absorbing and all passive. Western media and influences are seen as the cultural invading forces, like an army moving into an open city, while the indigenous cultures are helplessly being homogenized. However, every culture, regardless of how primitive it is, is a dynamic, viable entity, sufficiently flexible and dexterous in coping with exogenous influences. Of all these charges the only one that can be readily substantiated is the quantitative imbalance.

The disparity in communication resources and lopsided command of both technological and professional leads are the basis of cultural imperialism. Based on Rada's (1980) distinction of three disparities - disparity in the information infrastructure, disparity in the distribution of scientific and technological capability, and disparity related to industrial capability - the cards are, indeed stacked against the Third World nations. The sentiments in developing nations against North American or European dominance are understandable.

Imbalance can facilitate cultural exchange and diversity as people from different regions or backgrounds interact and share experiences. This cultural exchange enriches societies, fostering understanding, tolerance, and creativity.

Imbalance in resources or capabilities can create opportunities for trade and cooperation between regions or entities with complementary strengths and weaknesses. Through trade, entities can access resources and goods that they lack domestically, leading to mutual benefit and economic growth.

P2P has always been the best option to buy and sell for me. I have not seen a BTC ATM and I have not used such. Interesting is the fact that your device can do all that the ATM is offering.

See CBN Approach to Tackle FX hike Rate

In trying to find a solution to the falling naira, the Nigerian government through the Central Bank will now confiscate every dollars sent to you from abroad. They will refuse to pay you your dollars and convert the money and give you naira instead of the dollars sent to you. They believe doing so will starve the Bureau the change operators of dollars that if they starve them they will be able to control the exchange rate through the official rate alone. Now recall that the Central Bank don't have enough dollars to satisfy Nigeria and official rate is never available to the average citizens.

Now the people that feed the bureau the change operators with dollars are the people that they just stop from receiving money through IMTOs. So this directive is like cutting off a major source of supplies of dollars to the Nigerian market because it is never available in the banks. Can a merchant go the banks and get dollars up to $5,000 to demand commodities abroad, will it be available.

Why is this administration skating round the problems? They should stop treating symptoms and treat the disease.

The major problem is that there is shortage of foreign exchange. It was not the case in 2000 and early 2015. What change is that they mortgage future earnings by taking loans, what we are suppose to earn in the future has been use to take loans.

Why are they not affecting areas we can earn dollars?

  • Stop Oil theft and stealing of our natural resources it is a waste of dollars
  • Nigeria must move from consumption to production

Cutting off supply of dollars to the bureau the change is a try and error policy and don't be surprise the exchange rate will jump to NGN 2,000 per dollars. The bureau the change are the ones serving Nigerians with the purpose of Exchange. Let the government find a way to get supply of foreign exchange.

Bro no vex, we don already talk about this issue in the past, so I suggest you lock this thread, make we no dy spam out local board, dis na the link to the other thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5483957.0

This my topic is not about the Domiciary account. That approach was not agreed upon by the assembly. If you read my topic i focus on the new plan to cut the supply of FX to bureau the change. Go through am it is entire different from the one you shared.

Hitting the Street is Inevitable

Hitting the Street is Inevitable

Everywhere you go to from Lagos to Kano to Port-Harcourt etc. people are saying the same thing in Nigeria they are crying about the high cost of goods and services in the country. As at January rice was sold for NGN 45,000 and now It will surprise you to know that a 50kg bag of rice is NGN 68,000. A bag of Sugar was NGN 62,000 and now it NGN 75,000 the same thing for Fuel, Tomatoes, Cement etc. all increment was within a space of one month.

My First question is what would be the prices of these commodities in December?

Is the president trying to pass a message to the people. We are very good at adjusting and praying to God that already have heard us and bless our lands. The government don't seem to care. Just recently custom duty was increased from NGN 1300 a dollar to NGN 1400 to a dollar. The custom duty will drive increase in goods imported and it is the consumer that bears the cost.

When are we going to reach our Limit as Nigerians?

Savings worth nothing again especially when you convert it to dollar. Minimum wage cannot buy a bag of rice. Is it not time to hit the street and demand for better leadership and governance. We have three more years to go

The richest have influence and are very powerful but one thing you will note why they are ranked the richest is because they build something i.e a brand, a business or an invention etc. not base on having money alone.

I think acquire or Hodling BTC will increase Net worth especially as the prize  increase and value gain. It is worth noting that BTC hodlers will do well in the nearest economy. This s just my perspective.

Good Input. I like the fact that you made mentioned of the incremental value of Land as well as BTC. One thing you got right is to encourage people to own BTC stating that it would be a life changing decision in the long run. In my own analysis I don't think it would be appropriate to put Land and BTC in the same stream as pertain investment.

Land is a fixed asset and BTC is not. The fact is the price of BTC fluctuates and it is volatile whereas land has a fixed price this demands on so many functioning factors and the region in question.

To own a landed property is a decision that marks your territorial advantage. BTC will do well in the nearest future and beyond.

Re: Manipulation / ETF's
by

Is there a general consensus on how much volume it takes to move the BTC market price?
Is the SEC not worried about market manipulation?
Is there a legal framework in place to deter / reprimand BTC manipulation? - I realize this could only apply to US patrons.

My theory was that BTC was too susceptible to manipulation to issue an ETF yet.  Apparently I'm wrong, which is understandable, because I make beer for a living...

Any friendly opinions welcome!

Manipulation is what makes the market interesting. The SEC itself has their interest they are not innocent. They want control as it favors their government.
What you should be sure of Bitcoin has come to stay and the value will increase with time.

Re: Rollercoaster of emotions. How to deal with?
by

Hey everyone, I've been grappling with a question lately and would love to get your thoughts. How much of my monthly income should I realistically invest in Bitcoin, considering the emotional rollercoaster of the crypto market?

I understand the potential gains, but I'm also thinking about the stress of watching the market's frequent ups and downs. Seeing those price fluctuations can be a real thrill ride – exciting one moment and nerve-wracking the next. So, what's the sweet spot? How do I balance a smart investment percentage without getting overwhelmed by the market's volatility?

Would love to hear how you all manage this balance. I already have some amount invested, but way less than I'd like to have, but I have that fear of being put on risk more than I should.

Rule 1- Always Invest what you can loose

Bitcoin is profitable for Hodlers i.e Those that buy and keep it for a longer period of time. So the thing is that you should buy low and sell high. They are timely event that for BTC this year 2024. This include ETF, Halving etc. So by speculation BTC will end high.

Rule 2- After making your analysis allow the market to play out

If you keep checking chart, you will always make hasty decisions.

Rule 3- Be Patient

We cannot completely say Bulgaria owns the largest BTC. However Bulgaria is one of the countries along India, China, USA, Nigeria etc. who has a good number of its citizens owns BTC.

From all occurrences there is no better time to buy Bitcoin but for last year. The price of Bitcoin fell to a lowest of $17,000 Just spot you own minimal and buy as many as you can afford. You can start accumulating gradually which is one way a lot of persons here in this community did. However this year 2024 will pose another opportunity which you can profit from but remember ETF approval is at the corner, Halving Event is forth coming. This serve as opprtunity for BTC to go high.

Be watchful.

Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved
by

Who cares with Bitcoin ETF, either it's accepted or not, there's no reason to buy Bitcoin ETF since it just an IOU.

However, from now till 2026 will be promising for BTC as there would be favorable outcome..
Why it must be 2026? do you think Bitcoin went to $0 in 2027? Roll Eyes

Bitcoin price will keep rising in long term, sudden dump or bear season is inevitable, but that doesn't enough to stop Bitcoin to rise and break new ATH.

We care if Bitcoin ETF is accepted. I made a post concerning the timing of event which I would like you read;
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5474531.msg63178407#msg63178407

Why 2026? I have put into consideration several factor. One major factor is the Halving and another is the Bull run. There have to be a gap for possible eventuality.
I agree with you that Bitcoin prize will keep rising in a long run.

What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved

What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved

Whereas optimism is high as regards the approval of Bitcoin ETF which could be a milestone for investor to come in. Bitcoin topped $42,000 in December and the yearly gain compared from 2021 is 160%. One major factor at play was the hope to list Bitcoin ETF which is a very progressive discussion between the Asset managers and the Securities and exchange commissions.

When we plan we plan for possible eventuality and please do not consider this negative bias. Wisdom Tree, BlackRock etc. has meet the criterial as said and are waiting for a positive signal. Should we bank on it. The question is still pondering in my mind if it doesn't go as suggested or the approval is denied what then happens?

I can only see a sudden fall if Bitcoin ETF is not approved and you may as well add your input on this. However, form now till 2026 will be promising for BTC as there would be favorable outcome. It is a game of patience.

Selling prize differs from person to person. However the general rule is that when it gets to the zone of your satisfactory target feel free to sell. For me I don't think it is the best time now to sell because we are yet to see BTC Halving and ETF is looking promising.
Hodlers keep put.

What is the drive to Bitcoin? A lot of person are positive about the ETF and also Halving by the side. Notwithstanding the decrement you are seeing is for a short term as the market is finding a resting position before it takes another major move.

Americans Must Look to Parliament for 2024

Americans Must Look to Parliament for 2024

Our eyes has been on the Presidential seat ahead of the United States elections scheduled to be held on 5th November, 2024. We completely forgets the Important place of the parliament to the future of American as a state and as a people. The United State Congress is the legislative arm of the government and it has 535 voting members. It is made up of a higher body Senate and a lower body House of Representatives. For the next elections a total of 468 seats in the U.S. Congress are up for regular election where 33 are for Senate seats and 435 House seats.

We must look to our Parliament as a people. A lot has been going on there that are not worthy of mention because actions from members of the parliaments are not building our strength as it was before but making us weaker. It is certain we must stand firm on our feet as the next elections have a lot to do with our advancement and progress. Let us be guided there is still much to be done.

Few Questions I would like to get you own input on

Is buying Bitcoin or cryptocurrency good for Kids?

How do you teach a kid to secure Bitcoin in case you are not there?

Should authorities or agencies place age restriction on owning Bitcoin?
1- I don't think buying Bitcoin is suitable for kids who are still in the early years of their lives and whose cognitive processes lack awareness, consciousness, and the ability to maintain a sequence of thoughts in their minds. Those who buy Bitcoin should be adults, mentally open, and equipped with sufficient experience and necessary information to secure their own Bitcoin.

2- It doesn't seem prudent to have my Bitcoin holdings in the possession of my kid, and he is the one securing it in my absence. This task can only be entrusted to another mature and trustworthy person, preferably from my family circle. My child can take on this responsibility when he acquires greater awareness and matures. I attempt to teach him through simplified methods that align with his cognitive and understanding abilities.

3- Bitcoin is a decentralized currency with no authorities that can control the Bitcoins you hold or know whether you are a child or an adult. In addition, this is the sole responsibility of the parents.

If a child can operate an android device properly, play video game, use communication gadget, use different computerize device etc. why will I not introduce them gradually to Bitcoin. Digital currency is the future and should I not be responsible enough to start channeling them gradually to that direction. I don't agree completely that kid cognitive processes lack awareness, consciousness, and the ability to maintain a sequence of thoughts in their minds.
Note: It is in record that Tiger Woods turn Professional Golfer at 20 but was expose to golf at child hood.

I do not suggest that you should have your Bitcoin holdings in the possession of your kids. I wrote on the possibility, advantage and the need for a child to own Bitcoin. Although still trying to put in place parameters to avoid risk and other vices.

I agree with you when you say that it is a sole responsibility of Parents.

Parental Guild on Bitcoin

Parental Guild on Bitcoin

I have observe that there is no parental guide to buying and selling of Bitcoin. However, some central exchangers do put age restriction if you want to buy/sell digital currencies and some do not see the need to do so. Specifically, I would like this discussion to focus on Bitcoin or you can make reference to other cryptocurrency to drive in your point if you choose.  I do encourage parents to buy BTC in smaller amounts for their kids that's depends on how they can afford. One of the most likely challenge is how a parent can communicate to the child on the usage, what BTC entails and how to secure there funds.

I have put in written form some ways I can communicate this;

BTC is real and it is money in digital format. You can access it anywhere in the world and convert it to local currency to be use for purchase. Bitcoin is own and control by individuals who uses the internet for access and can do it using Laptop, Phones, tablet etc. Bitcoin is stored in Wallet which has its own unique key or addresses. Buying and selling of Bitcoin is legitimate but there are restriction in some countries and there is also risk involve. You can actually trade bitcoin too but I will not want you to because you need the right knowledge to do so if not you will lose all of it. Bitcoin has lot of benefit but should not be use as a game and get rich quick. You should also no share you password or personal key to anyone as it you funds can be withdrawn without your notice.

Few Questions I will like to get you own input on

Is buying Bitcoin or cryptocurrency good for Kids?

How do you teach a kid to secure Bitcoin incase you are not there?

Should authorities or agencies place age restriction on owning Bitcoin?

I will appreciate you immerse contribution to this discussion.

Never use public Wi-Fi  for transaction.

Do not use other people device to access your account, wallet, mail etc.

Verify every CEX, before engaging or avoid them completely

Most Importantly;

Gain Adequate knowledge on Cyber security or read Security tips. it helps.
