Legality of Tron and illegal file sharing?
by
RomanPoman
on 22/10/2018, 16:34:43 UTC
So if I understood correctly Tron is planning to incentivize seeding on BitTorrent by awarding it with Tokens. Seeders get tokens and leechers can pay tokens for faster file transfers.
We all know that a huge deal of torrents are used for illegal sharing of movies, games etc. So if all of a sudden all the seeders on PirateBay get "paid" for sharing their files....won't there be any legal repercussion from the entertainment industry?
I mean Tron is basically paying people to pirate in that case and the entertainment industry won't like to see people eating from their cake.

well right I see the increase is now around 18% and it's good enough, it's not possible that it will go up to 30% later,I think it's also pretty good ni coin for the long term

Brendan Eich is a beast, I mean just look at what he accomplished in the past. Given his history I think this is a solid long term project too. They just have to onboard a critical mass of users. Hope they don't skimp on the marketing moneys

Re: IS HOLDING TRULY THE SOLUTION TO DROP OF BTC PRICE?
by

on 22/10/2018, 13:46:29 UTC
It might be effective but you can't control users and investors in that way that you can prevent selling. To my opinion just holding bitcoin isn't the best strategy also, bitcoin is created to be actively used not only as an investment asset.

What exactly is bitcoin currently supposed to be used for? As of now there is no mainstream use case for Bitcoin and I believe there are other alternative coins out there who tackle the payment use-case way better than bitcoin. Intuitively I would say that most people treat Bitcoin as a store of value, nothing more, nothing less.
So I would say holding is indeed the best way to survive this massive drop.

They are smarter than that. There are already plenty of chinese crypto projects moving forward.
China will harness cryptos, rather than destroy them.

Re: More Regulations For Cryptocurrency?
by

Goverment has a responsibility for that i think  it they implement that can harm the growth of crypto we all know that banks are control by the goverment (central bank)
They are many possible speculation that they can manipulate the price of bitcoin. Because in thier part its alarming to them.

Not sure if banks are controlled by government or government is controlled by banks  Wink

Either way, I don't think that cryptos are alarming to banks or governments at all. If anything it gives them even greater leverage than FIAT money to control and regulate people.

Re: how governments can regulate digital currencies?
by

Though it’s easy to see why governments would want to regulate the movement of digital currencies, the reality of doing so is much harder. A lot of wallets have no identification to them and rest on a server in a third party country. In the case of offline wallets in devices such as the Ledger Nano, they’re not connected to any network.so is it possible to regulate ?

It's hard for them to regulate cash but they do their best and largely rely on information from third parties  -- your employer and bank etc -- and hope people are just being honest and then cracking down on those that aren't. They wont actually regulate actual bitcoin directly just like they can't really regulate the cash in your pocket or under your bed, but they will regulate it via exchanges and the services you use. Lets look at exchanges for example. Most if not all -- especially legitimate ones -- already require KYC to open a new account. They might not know about the bitcoin in your wallet or ledger nano, but they'll know about it when you send money to an exchange. You might be able to avoid that by dealing in cash only but then you've got a lot of cash that is unaccounted for and you'll have to explain the origins of if you ever put it in the bank or try buy anything substantial with it -- houses and cars and so on.

So all of your movements that go through exchanges are transparent to them. Are there currently ways that they can trace your money BEYOND the exchanges?

Re: If the bull market recur periodically, how long dose a cycle take?
by
RomanPoman

If it was possible to predict the length of the cycle, then there would be only millionaires on this forum Smiley In the speculation section there are thousands of posts about what will happen in the near future. And as usual, some believe that at the end of this year the price of BTC will be above $10k, and others that it will fall to $4k. I think that the truth is in the middle and the price should start growing slowly now. So in my opinion, we are at the beginning of new cicle.

This.
No one can exactly predict the timeframes of each market cycle but it is likely that the price will grow more steadily with all of the recent hype having cooled off.

Most people are not fit to trade coins to make constant profit and also most of these coins are gonna tank in the short-term anyways. So just pick a couple soild long term investments.

No one can say when the bulls return but it is safe to say that the market will recover eventually with all the good news pouring in.

More aggressive than the USA?  Huh
I don't think so. Yes, Putin is displayed as the bad guy and yes he is doing shady stuff, but so is everyone else. They just have a better image. Also without Russia there would be no counterpoint to the dominance of the States. No good if one global player has overwhelming power.

Re: Is there an institution that protects the circulation of Bitcoin?
by
RomanPoman
on 21/10/2018, 16:59:55 UTC
~ is also not a financial institution, so there is no oversight institution that has so far sheltered it.

there are "institutions" that have that "oversight" over bitcoin. it just happens that they are plural instead of being 1 centralized "institute" controlling everything. and they are called full verifying nodes. at the heart of it, the concept is the same. these nodes are doing the verification and in short enforcing the rules just as 1 governing body would do in a centralized system.

But what if that group of full verifying nodes "gets into the hands" of some institution that aims to enforce the rules? In that case that institution would effectively have said powers. Whether this is an official institution or a non-official group of people, I believe this has happened already in the crypto space before, right?

Also Etherium is already a platform with MANY projects running on it. Therefore it has a secured spot in the crypto-ecosystem, which makes the token a valuable asset of course
