What is the supply?

Is it a pre mine?

Why does 1 address have over 99.9% of the available coins?

What's the block reward?

I have been away from sia for awhile and my wallet version is pretty old.  Last time I was here (like 4 months ago) there were issues with coins being lost.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can safely download the new wallet version and how to get my old wallet.dat file in the new program?  There were changes on where the wallet.dat is saved so I'm not sure how to proceed I don't want to lose any coins.  I also had sianotes as well.

Thanks for the help!

1: Download and sync the new sia client. Don't unlock your wallet until it syncs.

2: Click the wallet tab then "new wallet" (or something like that) on top right of screen.

3: SAVE the long password they give you! That is your password.. and you can also recover your coins with it even if you lose your wallet.json file

4: Unlock your wallet and then click load legacy wallet. Point it to your old wallet with the old funds and you should be good to go from there.

If you have siafunds.. I believe you can import them using the same method. I haven't done this myself though not because we can't but because I just want to make damn sure everything is working the way it should before I play with those.

FYI: Your wallet.json file can be found in your sia folder under resources>>App>>Sia>>wallet
You should probably still make a copy of this even though the long password is as good as your wallet.

I see the network is currently ~16 TB of data, but is there any graph of this over time? (to see how fast it is growing)

There's actually 42 TB available at the moment and 16TB being used for contracts.

I would check this out... it has a ton of graphs and useful info

http://siapulse.com/page/main

though I don't think there's a graph for storage growth over time.

potential investor here  Wink

any news?

cloud storage working?

Yup it's working.

You should check out the new client.
You can upload and also make some money on the side if you've got extra storage space on your hard drive.

c:\COIN BACKUP 2016 OCTO - COIn\Sia-UI-win32-ia32\resources\app\Sia>SIAD
Loading...
(1/7) Loading gateway...
(2/7) Loading consensus...
error opening consensus database: MapViewOfFile: Not enough storage is available to process this command.

THUS i cannot access my 7.7 million SIA and they may be ..... lost ?

This release is full of bugs, i only tried to upload a file, then i deleted the file and now this happens.

How am i to recover my coins ? I deleted consensus and every time it gets to 1gb and something this happens. Every time. SIAD closes and then i get this error when trying to restart.

So yeah, maybe not sabotage, just bad coding ? BETA or not, this shouldn't happen.

Backup you wallet.json. Keep a safe copy (or 2, or 3) in a different location in case you accidentally move/delete stuff. Your coins are NEVER lost as long as you keep a backup of your wallet and the seed (your passphrase).

The issue you're reporting is not something I've seen reported before. But, we need more details in order to help you. Such as:

* OS
* are you running the latest version i.e 0.5.1?

I would advice you to just do a clean install, and resync the blockchain. Copy the wallet over (COPY!!! Keep a backup, always!!) before you run Sia again.

The "Not enough storage is available" is very clear. Are you ABSOLUTELY sure you have enough disk space? How much space is available on the drive where Sia is installed on your system?

If you continue having problems, seek help on the official forum at http://forum.sia.tech

I am running 0.51

I have 12gb free space

I have made a few clean installs, deleting everything and copying wallet.dat

Problem is once it syncs ALMOST completely siad quits and if i try to restart i get the afordmentioned error.

I synced blochcain a few times, this happens every time so it is a wallet problem, specifically with the consensus.db.

I think it is because i've test uploaded a file which failed to upload, closed siad then when i restarted i deleted the unfinished upload. I think something in the consensus bugged really bad.

Now i hope on 0.5x next version i will be able to get my money back.

If you got any other ideas, please tell. I mined for a long time to get that amount of SIA.

Well I'm not sure if this is the problem but... You said you're using your "wallet.dat" file...

Sia uses a wallet.json now and you have to use the Load Legacy Wallet option probably. Click the wallet tab screen. Click on the unlock wallet thing then on load legacy wallet). Do this after you install a fresh copy of SIA and make sure your block height is at whatever it says here http://explore.sia.tech/

Thanks for the update.

I'm assuming you guys (you and poloniex) will have everything all fixed up soon hopefully.

Looking very forward to 5.0 and glad to see the development coming along.

Sia is trading again on Poli  Wink

Although "deposits and withdrawals are temporarily disabled"

FYI here's a message I got from polo support which should give us all some relief.

-----------------------
I am afraid the wallet is not syncing, we are indeed speaking with the coin developer and awaiting a solution, when the wallet is re enabled all deposits and withdrawals will be processed at once. Wallets are backed up regularly so we can recover everything if needed.

I apologize for the inconvenience.

Best regards,

They probably lost them like the rest of us due to a "bug" in the wallet..

Or they're just having trouble catching up with the chain...   Wink

Well i'm pretty sure if they "lost" them it's due to their own incompetence and it would tarnish their reputation if they didn't refund us either in SIA or BTC.

As long as they kept the password they should be fine..

Updates would be nice.

Well it is limited to their wallet. I am updating a 4.8 wallet right now, and all seems fast and normal. However I am only doing this because my trusty 4.6 I had been using stopped working out of nowhere  Huh "exiting Siad" "Code 0" error ...has a few coins in it, so I am hopping to transfer the wallet json and pick back up those coins.

In those cases, it is worthwhile checking what siad returns on the command line. I've seen EOF errors due to renter issues. Anyway, you better stay with the most current version for less bugs, more bells'n'whistles. PS: Don't forget to back up your wallets. Its just a text file and you just need to do it once.

Yo, 4.8 working like a charm  Smiley moved json out of 4.6 wallet and plopped it in 4.8 all coins accounted for as always....

Thanks for the input,  Wink

PS: now I am just wondering when we will have access to the millions of coins on Poli  Shocked

Yea i'm in the same boat as you. Everything is on Poli, still waiting on answers.

Guys a few questions :

How many mh/s should one obtain with an r9 290 ?

How /where can one see the total GH/S of the network ?

Are there any pools ?

about 900-1000 with stock miner.

http://explore.sia.tech/

No pools yet but, devs are working on functionality I believe.

Are you nuts? lol I am thinking about buying up 10 more mil while the gett'n is still good  Grin

This project is doing just fine. Great strides are being made in its development.

Couldn't agree more. It has such huge potential. Once they actually launch the publicity campaign people will find out exactly what this is and the price and use will spike. Before that happens they definitely have to weave out the bugs.

The price of the coin aside.. these guys are pioneers (it's never been about the price, it's about all the doors this opens up for an open decentralized democratic internet).

I've just run the new sia-ui.
Clicked on load legacy wallet.
It asks for a password even though the old wallet wasn't encrypted.
I entered an empty password but no way.
Please help.

I would just redownload and start fresh with a new copy of the client. Wait for it to download the blocks before you try anything. (It took a really long time for mine to update fyi like 6-7 hours or something)

When you click wallet the first time it should show you the password. Just copy and paste that somewhere safe.

If you don't see anything on the screen where it says something like "here's your password" just double click to select the text, copy and paste it somewhere since sometimes there's a display error and it doesnt always show.

Then just load your legacy wallet again.

This is what I did and it worked for me (and I ran into the problem where I couldn't see the pass it generated for me too.. but I got around that by double clicking the text to select everything and then copy/pasting.

Goodluck

I started fresh.
It stopped downlaoding blocks at 16374, so I assume that's the last block (no way to check it since the explorer is down).
If I go to the wallet tab, there is no password.
What next?

I think the password should have displayed the first time you clicked on the wallet tab. Did you just dismiss the popup? I can't remember how I did it but also try clicking on the on "locked" at the top right of the screen when you're in the wallet tab.

I'm pretty sure when you click "wallet" (ONLY for the first time) the popup shows up and you have to copy and paste that lonnng password.

The only thing I can say is to try a 100% fresh copy and then write the password from the popup when you click "wallet" for the first time. It only shows up ONCE.

I don't know what else to tell you, perhaps others can chime in on the subject.

also fyi, we are in fact currently at block # 16374

question: should "siac miner status" return the total blocks mined or just the number of blocks found by the current running instance of a running miner? from my own experience it seems to be the latter as my current output shows 0 and 0 stales. however, my one block i mined 5 days ago finally showed up in my wallet balance after I gave up waiting for it to confirm 2 days ago and especially after running the miner status command a few times after I had to restart my pc and hence wallet. it went from showing 1 mined block to 0.

If you restart SIA it forgets you mined the block so you just have to wait the 144 blocks before it shows up in your wallet.

If you haven't restarted SIA the command will show you the # of blocks mined along with the # of stales.

Good. More SIA for me!

I actually happen to think this is a great investment... it's just that it isn't going to explode overnight. This is going to take some time but it will be well worth it.

The price of SIA is intrinsically tied to the price of storage/bandwidth and decentralization of data... What people are willing to pay for those is what the price of SIA will end up being.

This project has amazing potential and I for one believe it's going to be the next big thing.

trying out mining and am using the windows miner. it reports it has mined 1 block so far. I know there's a 144 confirmation requirement for new coinbase transactions but i'm pretty sure it has been over a day now. is there anyway to check on the blockchain for the two addresses I have, according to my 0.3.3 gui, so see if the coins have been in fact credited to one of these accounts albeit in an unconfirmed state? the current blockexplorer does seem to support queries by addresses and the windows miner output is very sparse so i dont even know what block height it successfully mined.

Blocks are coming in slow right now because of the difficulty explosion so it may not have reached the 144 blocks.

You can check out
explore.siacoin.com

for addresses but that's not going to give you much info about blocks you've mined (at least that I know of).

It's better if you go into the
resources>>app>>sia
folder

open command prompt in the folder and run the following

siac miner status

That will show you how many blocks you've mined along with any false positives

Hello,
I'm trying to send some coins to another wallet, or to poloniex,
but it wont make any transaction. I'm trying to send it through GUI.
Lets say I send 1KS, my balance is lowered, but on the other side its not credited anywhere.
Also I've mined 4 blocks, but after 48hours i have only 285KS, so I'm not sure where is the rest.
Does anyone know what could be possibly wrong with my wallets, or what Am I doing wrong?
Thank you.

One option to see how many blocks you've mined is to run
siac miner status

in the command line.. within the sia folder

there's no max.

Each block is worth 300,000 minus current block #.
It hits the floor at 30,000 so every block after block # 270,000 is worth 30,000
