Hence my girlfriend and mother in law both invested in Bitcoin. The step to really start using it is now much smaller for it is in their own interest that user adoption increases.

Inmiddels hebben we weer wat meer tijd en hebben we het weer opgepakt. De website is ook recentelijk geupdate en we gaan met wat nieuwe partijen in gesprek.

Daarnaast hebben we kort geleden een kleine meeting gehad met een aantal personen die ook graag mee willen helpen om dit initiatief verder uit te rollen in Rotterdam.

Aanmelden voor de Facebook groep is ook handig. Hoe meer mensen hier aan mee willen werken, hoe sneller het echt groot kan worden.

Sorry to say, but the title of this thread is very deceitful. It is great that you are a follower of Martin Armstrong, so am I, but that does not necessarily mean that all his predictions come true. As you know, he often changes his predictions down the road (an example is his recent turnaround on diamonds).

In addition, I see no reason why Bitcoin should follow the exact pattern of global markets such as the euro, commodities like oil or gold, or anything else. As Luthier has shown, Bitcoin has not followed the same price patterns at all as other commodities during the last 6 months. Another important point is that the Bitcoin market cap is completely meaningless if you compare it to the market cap of for example gold or oil. The people behind it, the people owning large chunks of Bitcoin are also a completely different group than institutional investors with different ambitions and long term goals.

I am not saying here you are wrong. You could be right. However, the way you present your information is very misleading for newbies. There is absolutely no guarantee that your predictions will unfold. Looking at the current market sentiment and the last six months you actually have the odds against you.

Last but not least, put your money where you mouth is and show us a printscreen of your shorts. Otherwise it will only look as incitement to other people.

Binnenkort hopelijk weer updates over nieuwe merchants

I am from the Netherlands. I guess most people here have at least heard about Bitcoin, including old people like my grandmother. Might have to do with the tech savvy population and one of the highest Internet adoptions around the world (almost 100%). Even my 87 year old grandmother has a tablet with Internet. In addition the level of English is high, which helps as most information about Bitcoin is in English.

Nevertheless I am not satisfied at the speed it is being adopted. I notice it is especially difficult to convince the older generations like my parents as the fiat system has always played out rather beneficial for them.

Among young people almost everyone knows what is Bitcoin and most of my friends also own a bit of Bitcoin. This also has to do with the fact that when I owe them some money (e.g. from taking drinks or a bbq) I always transfer this in Bitcoin. That is my rule. Some of my closer friends also deeply invested in Bitcoin however unfortunately some of them lost big sums of money with the Mt God fiasco.

In term of merchant adoption we are doing great. We have some big webshops accepting Bitcoin and several Dutch cities are growing quickly in terms of merchant adoption such as Arnhem or Amsterdam. Together with a few friends we are now working on increasing the merchant adoption in Rotterdam.

The community here is also strong, with some cool start ups like Blocktrail and a nice mix of Dutch and international people. So in the end it is not so bad, compared to other countries, but we could still do so much better. There is enormous space left for improvement and more adoption

De Witte de With staat zeker in de planning. De Hofbogen, Nieuwe Binnenweg en de Fenix Food Factory lijken mij ook mooie locaties waar wel wat mogelijk is.

Inmiddels hebben wij de eerste twee ondernemers binnen. Alan & Pim's en Vessel11, beide gesitueerd in de Wijnhaven tussen het Laurenskwartier en de Witte de With, accepteren nu allebei Bitcoin. Ze zijn ook al allebei toegevoegd in www.coinmap.org.

Voorlopig zal het hier relatief rustig blijven, omdat een aantal grote merchants waarmee we bezig zijn de beslissing over de zomer heen willen tillen. Mochten deze besluiten om Bitcoin te adopteren, dan wordt het iets heel erg groots en iets wat zeker de media gaat halen. Zoals ik eerder zei, zullen we nu wel proberen om al contact te leggen met kleinere merchants.

Graag wil ik jullie wijzen op het feit dat ik samen met drie anderen bezig ben om Rotterdam op de Bitcoinkaart te krijgen. Middels dit topic wil ik jullie op de hoogte houden van de laatste ontwikkelingen.
