If everybody holds bitcoin and do not use it, bitcoin will be useless. So the price will drop to 0. We need to hold some and use most.

The bitcoin industry is still too small for many full time jobs. The price of bitcoin is still to low for bitcoin owner to quit day time job.

For gamblers as a whole, it will lose eventually. For individual gamble, he might win some time. For profession gamblers in some games, he can win for very long time.

I do not like any Ponzi schemes. But it seems MMM is very effective in promoting bitcoin. So many people know about bitcoin now.

The catalyst for next rise could be reaching the consensus of block chain size. The argument was the cause of last drop.

Re: cash remains the only option if there's an emergency
Yes, this kind of situation mainly dependent on where you are living in. I believe with bitcoin debit-cards (even it has some higher fees compared to our bank cards) it is completely possible to face any situations with bitcoin.
If other fiat credit cards work in emergency, bitcoin credit card should also work in the same situation.
Somehow I feel this is not just ordinary pump and dump. We might go over $1k again. Also, this time BTC s spread over way more people so a couple of guys cannon dump and affect the market.
Yes. This time there is no quick pump. Whales are accumulating slowly without disturbing the price too much. So this time the price rise could be huge. Easily over $1k.

Re: cash remains the only option if there's an emergency
This is the biggest weakness with using Bitcoin - if the electricity goes out or you're unable to reach the blockchain, your funds are not accessible (they might as well be worth nothing).
But, Bitcoin was never designed to be a doomsday currency. It was meant to be a more fair, more efficient way to conduct current financial transactions.
This is the beauty of it, it won't need to replace fiat (nor should it) because fiat will always be necessary in emergency situations. This will help prevent the rulers of fiat currencies from meddling with Bitcoin.
If you have battery for your smart phone and there is wifi or 4G phone service, then it might not be a big problem.

I will still do my day job. It is impossible to go full time on bitcoin and earn a living. Bitcoin related industry and business is still too small.
The next run-up wil be after the block size fix, during that time we will see a drop to ~$200-$250.
Dont buy now, just wait 2-3 months.
The price rise has just started. Hold your coin tight. If you need money, it is better not to sell the bitcoin in exchanges, but use it.

-snip- I am living proof of this. When I started I actually didn't know about this forum at all. I was simply doing faucets and trying to earn some free coins. I think I found a different forum at one point but then found this one. The faucets eventually brought me to this site and I have been here ever since.
Yes, faucets could help a user familiarize himself on transacting with bitcoins, but what others don't know is that if there are too many dust inputs/outputs on an address, that would have a problem in terms of fee as it is calculated per kB on every transaction. To be able to create a tx using that address, you have to abide by the fee it requests or just let the balance in there and never bother using it again.
In the future, today's dust could be worth thousands of dollars. So we can use those dust coins without incurring large fee.

Honestly this ponzi scheme of Sergey Mavrodi is so appealing because of it's 20% interest rate for the investment but the risk is very high for your investment not to be returned as there is no guarantee.
Appealing for people who absolutely no idea economics. Everyone with a straight mind and a little bit of knowledge should smell the rotten fish here he is going to get.
We may have to do something to educate people about the potential danger of Ponzi schemes like MMM. All the governments should do something.

Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin?
I have a hunch that this is a false dawn. We have been in a bear market for so long and everyone has been waiting and hoping for riches that we are seeing what we want to see.
We've had a few false signals before though, now that China has given the seal of approval on Bitcoin combined with the halving next summer and the Bitlicense taking effect I think now is the time to start going up.
Yes. Two big events in two different events must have significant impact on bitcoin prices which may be the reasons for next big price rally. People around the world are already started holding bitcoin on expectation of halving boom. Satoshi must have implemented halving for every year to make price surges often.
Satoshi should implement a smaller drop like 0.l% for every week or use the mining output schedule like Monero, which reduce the output every block.
This is how I approach gambling. I really only gamble on poker and sports betting, and I do it for the entertainment. If I win, that's awesome, and if I lose, I was simply paying for entertainment.
I also started doing parlay betting on NFL a lot recently. It's quite a cheap hobby, and just being right a fraction of the time yields insane profits.
That is the spirit. Gambling is just for fun. Most of us cannot live on gambling. You need special skills to live on gambling.
Well all altcoins went red this days its insane, even knowing that bitcoin is getting more value these days, the pump and dump is profitable just for some .
True its all pump and dump now
It is difficult to know when there is a pump and jump in before the pump and get out before the dump. That is the reason some whales will earn money.
