Hey people, 95% of traders lose money, only 5% (not 95%!) of traders will become successful like Poker. Congratulations If you are one of the 5% winners but you are more likely to lose lots of money. Don't dream too far about it!

This aint'T the easy get rich quick plan.

OP why don't you start thinking for yourself. What is Bitcoin worth to you?

In my opinion Bitcoin is like mobile phones. It will take some years to develop the infrastructure and get people to use it.

We are here

And the potential is

It's a bad example.

Nokia 3310 is the best mobile phone ever.

- Charge it once a month even if you use it everyday.
- It will never break even if it falls from the heavens.
- One of the cheapest phones ever.
...

New technologies are often accompanied with new problems and difficulties as history has proven many times.

Bitcoin is a market like any other market.

Mr. Elliott showed that the movements in the financial markets were not chaotic, the markets are repetitive and cyclical in nature. It's the first thing to understand about markets.

I think 275 is not the bottom, it's much lower and it seems more like a big bull trap right now.

My two cents.

BitSwamp has been under the control of that guy with the 1000k ask wall since July ... someone needs to clean his clock and take him out once and for all ...

The exchanges make a lot of money. Where the money goes? I bet the people behind these sites are not innocent at all like some rigged online poker sites. and they animate the market, their business can continue. Mark Karpeles is just the tip of the iceberg.

Profit taking on an up trend?

Bitcoin is a game, the goal is to find good bottoms, buy low and dump sell high.

Maybe this wall is real? He wants to sell his coins but he doesn't want to kill bitcoin with dumps.

Satoshi, Tim Draper, Winklevoss twins, Ethereum?

The wall is very real (when it's up)

Seems like the behaviour of a lone whale deciding to get out. prolly mined them all on a laptop.

Any org like ethereum would probably get out in a more sedate manner, trying to stay under the radar.

such as the guy who sold a pizza for +10,000 BTC. They are numerous.

But one thing is sure, the price will fall quickly if this wall is not removed in the next hours.

You forget the most important.

Cryptoccurrencies are not made for geeks and kids, it's made for traders and investors.

No. They are made for everybody.

I agree, but no investor, no money, no people.

Re: Monero (XMR) Speculation thread
by

on 21/08/2014, 14:27:01 UTC
I am interested to invest in Monero for the long term but I have many concerns.

- I use a virtual machine and I can't install monero on XP (32 bit), all platforms should be supported.

- When BTC is rising, LTC/BTC goes up but not monero, so we loose money, it seems difficult to grow without btc-e and bigger exchanges.

Why should anybody support a platform that is outdated like XP?
Should we support Amiga and Atari too?

Is Monero a cryptocurrency for geeks only?

Don't forget the people that don't use the latest hardware.. They are numerous...

People with old hardware can always use Linux. Easy to install, easy to use.

I have no idea why so many people are still using XP. Using XP is the best way to loose all your coins.

I don't use old hardware. I use a virtual machine for my wallets and XP is clean by default.

look at all other coins, they lost 95% in value! Litecoin is strong compared to these. Litecoin will always be number 2 and the silver of the cryptoworld  Smiley
Litecoin is abject trash. It does nothing that Bitcoin can't do, so your silver analogy doesn't make any sense. Litecoin will stagnate and then die, being replaced with whichever anonymous coin comes out ahead of the others.

You forget the most important.

Cryptoccurrencies are not made for geeks and kids, it's made for traders and investors.

LTC is a good coin for traders and investors, It's supported by major exchanges: btc-e, btcchina, huobi, okcoin... on strong volumes, it will go up like BTC did.

Do you think some scam devs are related to some exchanges, hashrate rental websites, and pool opertaors?

Yes, these altcoin exchanges are one of the main problems.

I've a simple soluiton to this problem

I suggest the community start its own exchange with 0% (or vey low) Fee Trading, we can add a Donate Button like Wikipedia.

I think this solution is the best way to short-circuit all these scam and shit coins.

This exchanges will be trusted by the community and reliable members in this forum.

If anyone is interested here, I can help to build that plan.

The code Java one of the most common and robust and well known open source codes in the history of mankind.

Java is the perfect language for mediocre programmers. It's easy to find programmers who can produce working code, a bit like Visual Basic if you knew it... Ask in the developers forums what they think about Java, so many programmers hate it.

There's a lot of bad code but it's not a problem because Java allows you to produce bad code that you can't do in C and C++.

But Java is really easy to make and maintain extremely large enterprise applications, that's why it's popular and many enterprise projects are done in Java but many enterprise projects were done in Visual Basic too, no it's not a reference...

POS is actually more secure than POW.

It's false.

It is a widely spread belief that crypto-currencies implementing a proof of stake transaction validation system are less vulnerable to a 51% attack than crypto-currencies implementing a proof of work transaction validation system. In this article, we show that it is not the case and that, in fact, if the attacker’s motivation is large enough (and this is common knowledge), he will succeed in his attack at no cost.
