Re: Suggestion : Merit Jail
by
S.Sandberg
on 24/04/2018, 20:40:37 UTC
not only merit is already very hard to get, but it also freeze a lot of accounts into their current levels.

a lot of members that were a few points away from being "full member" are now frozen into "member" for a few months if not a few years.

a lot of  jr members, newbies etc....

the merit system is like "ok, your a new to the game ? ok then f**k you, you just had to be here earlier."

proposing a merit jail is just like trying to stop a fire using oil. good luck.

if such jail were to exist, people would eventually move to some other forum.

twitter already have put a serious blow to bitcointalk.org in terms of crypo-related traffic ratio (%).

you certainly don't want this forum to lose the edge isn't it ?

Re: How will crypto go long term?
by
S.Sandberg
on 23/04/2018, 19:48:10 UTC
long term ?? VERY FEW PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THIS :

wealth is into different fields over time, but never come back.

from 1st century to the late XIV century, kings and emperor were the richest people. ( wealth into kings hands)

from XV to XX century the richest were the bankers. ( wealth into bankers hands)

1960-2000 Microsoft Apple Hardware and system providers made it into the richest places and the most powerful. ( wealth into hardware corporation's hands)

2000 - 2015  Internet race with Facebook, Google, Amazon, Alibaba wealth got owned by Internet linked businesses. ( wealth in social & internet corporations hands)

2012- 2018 is about blockchain businesses. (wealth into crypto businesses hands ).

the true question is : what's next ? and when ?

THE THING is that you might argue that X or Y currency has better features etc... but the truth is, when an even more advanced technology come, it will whipe out the profit from cryptocurrencies.

and technological breakouts are hapenning more and more often, happening faster and faster.

so a good advice : try and keep looking around, at the Not-blockchain new tech, that might be threatening our world. If you find such a technology, it will be time to leave the crypto world.

an exemple : quantum computers. ( very far from now but still ). this is the kind of thing you all should up to, when t comes to long term.

Re: Expected predictions
by

on 23/04/2018, 19:31:48 UTC
For ethereum my predictions are around 2000$ in a month.
Its cause of technical analyses and trading patterns called cup and handle.
Check the chart h4 time frame and you will see a clear pattern.

2k$....That is indeed a very likely target, as long as world governments don't get involved into crypto-bashing again. otherwise, it doesn't matter how clever Ethereum community is, governments will still have the last word.

Anyway, let's hope that ETH reach this target. in a bullish world, this is very possible.

Re: Merit & new rank requirements
by
S.Sandberg
on 25/01/2018, 15:29:27 UTC

if this system is here to stop people trying to climb the scale up, then it is an absolute success.

It probably is. It is essentially freezing the rankings.

you nailed it : it will FREEZE rankings.

what the admin doesn't get, is that if the majority of people are still posting directly or non- directly, to get a better ranking.

when the majority will be tired of these too harsh rules or whatever, they simply lose patience and move somewhere else.

if theymos has a made a full life / earning from the forum, he has to understand, not everybody here is in such situation.

and people may not be willing to farm so hard to get some small and incredibly slow reward.

if i was about to launch a new crypto i would not waste so much time and energy on this forum anymore, and i'm sure tons of new people might start to think this way.

discouraging is easy especially when better alternatives exists.

just like bitcoin, this forum is aging, and sooner or later it will get replaced by some other community.

this is very sad, but such rules might make the end of this forum sooner than later.

LOL so basically someone is trying to launch a merit market.

on a bitcoin community, its pretty obvious that some people here are gonna have to buy merits to get up.

also i would like to show that excepted some senior/VIP/moderators members.

Next to no one got "merit" points. and the thread already has almost 40 pages.

this means to my humble guess, that its gonna take me and other entire year to reach the "full member" level. (ven though its only 40 activity points away ).

where the hell am i gonna find 90merit points ?

if this system is here to stop people trying to climb the scale up, then it is an absolute success.

it is not that i need a profile pic so bad, but i hardly understand why one would need to make it so difficult Huh

anyway i'm not especially negative toward this, i'm quite used to natural selection, and fairness is just a human concept, not a reality.

given the number of ETH is considerably higher than that of bitcoin, it is unlikely that it ever reach the price of bitcoin.

on the other hand it is indeed very stable. and will probably be regulated.

as a matter of fact, bitcoin dominance, is at an all time low about 30% of the entire crypto market.

so its possible for ETH to take over bitcoin easily. but brace yourselves, because riple might take them out both.

ETH will pass the 2k mark, 3k is also likely. but more ? we need to get more informations.

Re: MARKET IS CRASHING : WHAT'S YOUR THOUGHTS ?
by
S.Sandberg
on 18/01/2018, 00:08:40 UTC
it's not a market correction neither a crash, its a shift.

value is shifting from bitcoin to : financial institutions linked cryptos on one hand and anon crytos on the hand.

mark my words, these regulations are just the begining.

in the end only will stand bank approved cryptos, and the other ones will be illegal anon cryptos.

they don't try to eliminate cryptos they just want to control.

the big picture is that all government of the world will unite against bitcoin, and make it useless or highly taxed.

on the other hand, government controled cryptos will robably be used such as Ripple.

and maybe anonymous cryptos will be used in black markets

that is still a dificult topic as more counties ban bitcoin, the more difficult it will be to attract new investors.

especially bitcoin.

evading reality and government is just like watching a movie, at some points it has to end.

just like "freedom" its a big illusion.

i still remember using background music for my youtube channel during the late 2000's.... and then everything got blocked or deleted for copyright infrigement.

it took years, but the governments won.

wishful thinking is kind of a bad thing, it may lead to great lossses.

on 16/01/2018, 21:26:49 UTC
the problem is that everybody here thinks "ripple ripple ripple.".... no, it's just bitcoin and only bitcoin.

there is NO FLOOR for altcoins. ripple included.

if BTC drops to 5k$ then rippl will keep dropping do 0.5$ or even 0.3 easy.

all depends on bitcoin behavior. but i'm quite sure we might see bitcoin hitting the 7-8k, therefore ripple hitting the 0.7$

Re: Is bitcoin dead?
by
S.Sandberg
on 11/01/2018, 21:41:44 UTC
Bitcoin, no doubt was a revolution.

but maybe you are aware of the fact that our technology and environment is morphing at an exponentionnaly fast pace..

thus the changes that occured these last ten years will face an equivalent change for the next five years. and then the next 2.5 years, then the next 1.25 years, then the next 6 months etc

at a constant pace, i would say bitcoin would still have a decade.

but given our actual pace, i would still give it 5 relevant years... Maximum.

2018 Bitcoin will probably lose its first place.

by 2020 Bitcoin may be falling from the top 10 cryptos.

by 2025 an other technology may have  showed up, making Bitcoin entirely useless, much before the last bitcoin be ever mined.

but these are just statistics, maybe i'm all wrong, who knows ? Smiley

Re: Do you think billionaires invest in BTC?
by
S.Sandberg
on 11/01/2018, 19:06:16 UTC
There are two kinds of investors that invest in crypto.
The  crypto enthusiasts that loves bitcoin and innovation on one hand  and the pure financials investors.

Crypto enthusiasts are usually  Multi millionaires.

But the pure financial profile usually are banks or  funds... and they are interested.... in ripple.

Thats the problem here. These two categories of  investors are the ones that will decide the fate or cryptos.

This year, odds are high that bitcoin lose its first place and egemony.
This just as important as all the news and listing of ripple.

When ripple take the crown, tons of scared investors will turn to ripple instead of bitcoin.
This means literally dozens of billions of dollars.

Get ready for the next skyhigh lol

money and wealth are just one particular definition of power.

from prehistoric era to the late XIV century, kings and emperor were the richest people.

from XV to XX century the richest were the bankers.

in the late XX to early XXI, Microsoft Apple Hardware and system providers made it into the richest places and the most powerful.

2000 - 2015  Internet race with Facebook, Google, Amazon, Alibaba wealth got owned by Internet linked businesses.

2012- 2018+ will be about blockchain businesses.

but be careful as you can see wealth is made over new technological leaps.

so the next leap will not happen with bitcoin. it will happen somewhere else.

also, you notice that all revolution and wealth changes happends faster... i think you get it.

the funniest thing about banks is that their interest rate is lower than inflation rate.

so no matter the interest rates, your bank account number will never rise as fast as prices!

banks are just a waste of time ! Smiley

three digits looks indeed possible, especially with the airdrop hysteria.

i had invested in NXT for the same reason : air drop hysteria.

the thing is here we have only one and a half exchange and very low coverage.

i still think 30-50$ is feasible before the end of the airdrop. that's an easy x5investment from now.

but tht would be a 10x to 20x investment to early adopters hehe

Anonimty is basically the future especially when we see all these retarded government policies. people are getting really tired of gov monitoring...

I got scammed one times in the INTcoin ICO, but excepted this everything is fine and i believe even if governments all around the world are banning icos, we still have a large chunck of investors that doesn't care at all.

people will get rid of government enforcments, and there will more and more anonymous coins.

So NO ICOs are far from dead. "forbidden" might be a better describing word.

And no smart contract.

So I guess there were enough red flags... be careful with scams !

by

I read somewhere on this thread that btc dominance was like 1vs 1000 altcoins....

Times changes.. btc marketcap is 275B. Ripple is 130B ethereum 100B and bch is 50B .

Bch + eth + xrp >bitcoin.

Btc is down to 32% and it only takes 3altcoins to overtake bitcoin.

next step will be ttwo coins vs btc.

And then btc lose its first place.
