Re: Destroy Bitcoin Foundation?
by

Here's another Bitcoin Foundation question...  Why is this secretive foundation had so much turnover? And why are they not pushing for decentralized crypto exchanges? Centralized exchanges are an insult and outright contradiction of bitcoin and the blockchain!
The short answer is greed. In Bitcoin's early days a lot of people were willing to donate to them and they donated in terms of bitcoin, which has since risen significantly in price since they received the majority of their donations. By not being transparent, they can prevent them from receiving pressure to spend more of their money on the community.

If it is true, as Naguib Mahfouz once wrote, that one can tell a clever man by his answers, but a wise man by his questions, what are we to think of a thread that never gave good answers, and has apparently run out of questions?
who says we ran out of questions?

Re: Would this computer be OK for gaming? Input, please!
by

Hey all,

My laptop recently broke and I've been in search of a high end PC for everyday use.  I also do plan to play games often, so I would like your input, would I get a decent FPS (say, 50 +?) for modern day games on medium/high/ultra settings with these specs?

This is a DELL computer (IK, not a customized computer, nor a gaming one :-/)

Processor:
4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4790 Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.0 GHz)
Memory: 12GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz - 4 DIMMs
Video Card: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 745 4GB DDR3 (OEM version, duh.  Not sold in the open market).

http://www.dell.com/ca/p/xps-8700/pd?oc=dxps8700_bt_b107re&model_id=xps-8700

I'm mainly wondering about the GPU; the processor and RAM don't seem to be a problem...
If this computer isn't the best, do you guys have any good desktops to recommend?  My budget would probably be $1000 CAD or less for just the destop.

Thanks in advance!

P.S.  The games I'm looking to play would be: Battlefield 4, GTA V (when it comes out), Far cry 4, and other games on that level. Smiley
for those games yes it would probably work. For others maybe, maybe not.

Re: Will we ever be able to change our avatars?

I think we should be able to change our avatars once the new forum software comes out. I think there was a security flaw in being able to use avatars so they made it so we cannot change them.
I am pretty sure this is accurate. We need to wait until the new forum software comes out.

Re: Do you really earn more money because you went to college?
by
S133p
on 01/08/2014, 01:31:19 UTC
700 euro per year for 5 years = spending more than earning? Hm.
This might be in the US, but only insane people go live there.  Cheesy

700euros per year for college means people that don't go to college pay for people that do go for college, poor innovation, poor quality, lots of waste, bad administration and a useless degree at the end because too many people will get a degree

You lost the money you could have earned in 5years, the skills and connections you would have got as well
You just said that any colledge in Austria is bad because it's 700 euros per semester/year (not exactly sure right now anymore)
You have no idea what you're talking about.  Wink

####
It is quite the opposite, US colleges are way more bloated and inefficient. They increase the cost of tuition way faster than the actual incurred costs for them...

Austria is a very small country, still has some top 100 ranked college degree programs (BSC, MA, MBA and MSC)
This is true. and the fact that there are no requirements to borrow for college make it so colleges have zero incentive to try to keep costs in line.

Re: Which country has the best regulatory environment and taxation for bitcoin

Isle of Man

But we getting conflicting reports from them. One moment they supporting them and the next moment they saying the opposite. Huh

Canada seems to embrace bitcoin and they also seem to have the biggest install base of ATM's.

Are you planning on investing?
i think they are a pretty good place to live and use bitcoin.

I am not sure about the regulation part but they are good for the taxation of bitcoin as they do not change for capital gains.

Re: Purpose of Bitlicense Regulations
by
S133p
on 27/07/2014, 01:00:38 UTC
The regulations are actually only affecting the exchanges that are based in New York, and will not directly affect users of bitcoin except that they need to go through KYC process when dealing with exchanges (however this is nothing new)

Wrongo, Boyo!

The regs apply to ANY exchange which does any kind of business in New York even if the exchange is located outside of the USA.
I don't think the states have the authority to regulate businesses that have no operations in that state.

Re: Will Satoshi Nakamoto be world's first trillionaire ?
by
S133p
on 27/07/2014, 00:51:48 UTC
firstly satoshi does not own 1mill coins. sorry but just no..

between 2009-2011 5 mill coins were produced. and trust me there were more then 5 people mining.. do the maths

secondly lets say satoshi had 500k coins instead (again exaggerated but lets roll with it) would require each coin to be worth $2m each.. or if we use the FUD amount of a 1million coin hoard, it would be $1mill a coin for him to be a trillionaire..

so i dont think so..

i do love it when pople dont think before they make topics like this.. its soo easy to rebuttle the solution and move on with our lives

I have a statistical explanation why 1BTC may equal 1M USD in future...

Value of 1BTC (around figure)

2009 => 10-2 USD
2010 => 10-1 USD
2011 => 100 USD
2012 => 101 USD
2013 => 102 USD
2014 => 103 USD
2015 => 104 USD
2016 => 105 USD
2017 => 106 USD

--- Early Adoption Ends Here and The Price Stabilizes ---

I don't think it is realistic for bitcoin to have a 1000% return every year for this long.

If u look upto 2014, i.e. 2/3rd of the total period under consideration, the figures are almost true. Rather 2014 target of 1000 usd has already been achieved in 2013 and it'll most likely repeat in 2014.
at one point the law of large numbers will take effect to prevent further growth at these rates. You should also keep in mind that previously the market cap of bitcoin was very small.

You do realize we didn't always have exchanges or local bitcoins.com, right? And if you want to buy or sell ฿500, there aren't many places to do that easily...
I don't think there are any places you could buy or sell 500btc without causing a major spike or crash in prices.
