Your profits will vary, but right now in my opinion mining is still a good thing to do.  With prices lower, profits are lower, but the price of graphics cards have come down a bit too which increases your profitability.

Try it out, although look to mine alt coins for the best profit.  BTC is not your best profit right now and graphics cards won't suffice for BTC mining.

I slept on it, and I now realize I was afflicted with a streak of bad luck.
I’m still determined to “outsmart my luck”.   I think I was greedy with the 2.5 payout.
Just set a "goal", in like a day, or in hour/s? Then be contented. Greediness is the key for this gambling sites. You experience this first hand. Goodluck.

You are 100% right.  I did a test on this with some of my BTC.  I moved over .03 BTC (.01 in fees), so net .02.
I was up to a little over .04 within about an hour or so.  I thought about quitting for the day and come back the next day.  But greed sure got me.

I am going to try this again to see how it goes.  It is for entertainment and personal gratification only.  Hope I win some BTC, but my real goal is to not end up with 0 satoshi again.  Sad

Maybe I will lower my payout from 2.5 to 2.25.  Also set the goal that if i am up 100% in a day.  Quit.
Also, when I am up 25% on the day - refresh the browser
Last, never make a single bet that exceeds 10% - 15% of my total balance.

I know I am as prone to bad luck as the next guy. But wait a minute.  Did I really lose hi/low 20 times in a row with 38% chance of winning.  OK, yea; that is possible.

So, the inquisitive mind of mine went to the audit logs.
And....
WTF!!!! I should have WON!!

I will let the attached picture speak for itself.

I sent Freebitcoin.in a message on their portal and I am hopeful they respond to make this right.

If Freebitcoin.in reads this.  Please fix this and do something for your reputation because this is definitely not right.

Re: Saving Bitcoins for your Children.

I would definitely recommend including BTC to your children's portfolios.  I do wish it were easier right now to manage their 'total' portfolio in one account - but for now, we will have to make due and manually reconcile their traditional securities portfolio and digital portfolio.

I would by no mean recommend "all eggs in one basket", more so for older persons than children as we have a reduced inherited risk tolerance the older we get.  But, a diversified portfolio should these days include crypto.

The traditional rule of thumb in portfolio management is to subtract the investors age from 100 - that represents the split of bonds vs equity (30 year old would have 70% stock and 30% bond).
The modern model should be subtract age from 100, then the age is their bond holdings, the remaining equity structure (the remainder of their age) should be 1/3 crypto and 2/3 traditional securities (traditional securities should be diversified across multiple asset classes of course).  We could diversify cryptos as well (some BTH, ETH, LTC, AltCoin, ICOs...).
Then naturally, rebalance 1-2 times per year.

Point of this, I would absolutely recommend holding cryptocurrency for your kids.

You may be surprised that before long, they know this stuff better than you do.  Smiley
