I also can't seem to locate the git for non-AES-NI for cryptonight-lite miner. The one I built from git was for AES-NI only. And the other was a readme file only. Can someone point me right direction , thanks.

here?  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=641696.msg12049159#msg12049159

That is the one that only has only a README file in it.... you will have to forgive me my linux is rusty but it's coming back, I have and do quite a bit of mining using linux but I'm struggling on this for some reason.  Any help is appreciated.

btw I ran the following :

wget https://github.com/Arux-BTT/CPUMiner-Multi-cryptonight-light/archive/04082015.tar.gz

tar zxvf 04082015.tar.gz

Then shows only as README.md under ls command.....I imagine I'm just forgetting something, but I did compile the one for AES-NI just fine, however it was a .git file and not a .tar file ...  Huh

Now who is Mr Break-it-All? Wink  ........ (sorry reference to any earlier funny by myagui)

Anyhow I have converted to my R410 server to ubuntu in anticipation of running a pool. I'm wondering if any of you could give or have a "grocery list" of prerequisites, libs, and tools for most of the things we do. I don't want to do them individually as I go when I need them (frustrating), for miners and wallets etc... done it last year but all those machines are running and I have long forgotten.

I bet some of you have a list like that for fresh installs, I hope . Thanks in advance Smiley

...btw once I get my pool up I'll run a week for donation while I tune it and tweak it ( 3 gpu's and 7 cpu's Smiley  ) I dig this project and all of you here.

Here you go Mr. Break-It-All  Wink
Unofficial win binaries, caution advised, etc, etc: Aeon-Win-x64-0.9.3.0
Note: I haven't tested these myself yet. Just picked up fresh from git and compiled as before.

Quoted from Smooth's instructions:
Upgrade note: Shut down your existing node, delete your poolstate.bin file, then restart using this new version.

Happy Testing!
Too bad I can't change my handle to that, right?! ... Thank you my friend Smiley

I'm working on a non-profit charitable entity structure, planning to use crypto, with another private group that is in early stages of development. A lot of details to iron out in the foreseeable future. Aeon looking like a good candidate network, keep it rolling!!

@SRBOOTH:

If you're wanting to run a full node just for the sake of a full node, but have otherwise no problems with the test binaries for the pruning version, you could also just run the pruning version without any parameter (specifically, without --pruning). This will have you running a regular/full node.

@smooth:

I used Boost 1.59 for the aeon-light test binaries. Should we expect trouble anytime we switch between binaries that were compiled on different Boost versions?  Undecided
If that's the case, I'd appreciate some official direction as to what version to use, so that I'd always use the same as anyone that will produce official binaries, thus preventing similar complications in the future.

Thanks!
I did just that with 9.2 (without pruning) It is "upgrading blockchain format" as I type this Smiley  I always try and break stuff.

Help??

You need version 0.9.2.0. Or you can delete your p2pstate.bin file.

EDIT: "unsupported version" indicates an incompatibility with the boost version used to compile the binary, not with the version of AEON being used. If the problem had to do with AEON the message might be "unsupported class version" though it isn't clear to me the class version was even changed on the peerlist file.

Anyway, I'll note in the future that preserving all of your .bin files before using test versions is a good idea. For now you will need to either delete the offending .bin file (probably peerstate.bin) or keep using the test version (you can run unpruned if you want by removing the --pruning" flag) or talk to the people who are building the binaries about using consistent boost versions.

Thank smooth, great!

I just ran pruned client , double checking instructions and didn't see any reduction in RAM usage. Copied blockchain.bin to desktop, renamed blockchain-pruned.bin, pasted back into appdata Aeon folder. Run new client, saw pruning in the log, save after sync. Re-run client as batch file (aeond.exe --pruning) , resync and rechecked RAM useage is the same. Did I miss something?

Apologies for this TLDR question: Do I need to run the client on each comp where I want solo (gpu)?

The only way to solo mine with a GPU is to run your own pool, since the built in daemon miner can't GPU mine and the GPU miners can't connect directly to the daemon. As I am looking at setting up a pool I may have more advice on this later. EDIT: I see exciter0 posted some instructions. Thanks exciter0!

Likewise, if you run your own pool you can have as many of your own computers connecting to it as you want and you are still effectively solo mining.
Very nice!! yes thank you exciter0 ....I'm  running Windows 2008 on a Dell R410...But I'm thinking of wiping it for Linux. I'm decent at Linux and need to keep learning, any suggestions for what flavor to run on that server so as to use it as a pool machine??  Or anyone out there with a cryptonote pool "how to " for Windows?

@SRBOOTH:

There's no external GPU solo miners for any cryptonote as far as I know. Most definitely not for nvidia, since ccminer will only work with pools. If you really want to solo mine with nvidias (or AMDs AFAIK), you'll need to setup a private pool. That should be an interesting/fun project btw.  Smiley Happy Mining!

Edit: on the pruned version compiled for windows, I've posted (unofficial) binaries just yesterday:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=641696.msg12285871#msg12285871

Official ones should not take long I suppose, since Arux is back from all his summer partying  Grin

Edit ^2: the light-node (pruned) working well for me so far. I have made a couple of transfers without any issues, I have solo mined a block, and have gone through the cycle seeing a misbehaving peer get blocked. Good stuff!   Wink

Sweet!! and thanks for the info @myagui !! I am going to try and set a pool up for myself , I think smooth was looking to do the same.

Apologies for this TLDR question: Do I need to run the client on each comp where I want solo (gpu)? I currently am running a full windows version. I can't get the gpu's to connect to the wallet in the same network. Port 11181?? I solo mine 1 wallet (not a cryptonote coin)  from 3 different comps in the same network all the time. I have never gpu solo'd a cryptonote. Could someone point me to a good set of instructions please??

I want to set this up in anticipation of running the pruned version when the windows compilation comes out Smiley
Thanks in advance!

Can somebody give me a brief summary of what I need to do to set up a pool. I've done it a few times before (for XMR) but I'm not really up on which versions of the code to use for AEON, any patches needed, etc.

Post if you feel it is of general interest, otherwise PM.

Thanks!

I would love this info as well, I have a Dell R410 server machine that is pretty much idle and up to date.

Thanks for the feedback jwinterm. I know that most up-to-date ccminer forks are built with static libraries (so separate dll's are not required), but the cryptonight base from which .....

Working now myagui. Turns out I have cuda5.5, and both versions work, so I guess it was just the missing dll. I'm getting much lower hashrate on that windows computer though, around 250 h/s per 750ti, compared to about 425 h/s per card on ubuntu machine. So, don't know if that's cause I need to update cuda, or just cause windows sucks, but, anyway, it's working now Smiley

I have similar deficiencies on certain comps running my 750ti's. Not absolutely positive but I believe it boils down to the architecture of the machine and/or bios. Bios update risk not worth the reward. ...I know this btw because I have swapped 3 different ti's between about 5 different machines and then played musical chairs with them and the deficiencies persisted among the mobo/processor/bios architectures and not the variations in cards or software. ....not likely your fault Smiley

I'm exchanging PMs with SRBOOTH to see if we can figure out why the ccminer binaries that I posted are not working for him.
@jwinterm, if I read correctly, you also had some trouble on Windows. In case you used the binaries that I had posted, do you recall what was the error on your end?

@smooth, awesome job on the pruning release! I've been happy solo mining, hitting at least one block per day, sometimes two. Need all the power we can have against nefarious Moooooooooo.  Grin  I'll see if I can build the pruning release and start testing that as well tonight.
The relevant file causing the problem was my cudart32_65.dll was not up to date for the 6.5 build even though I had installed cuda 7. Found this out after updating my driver. Then copy and pasted the updated cudart32_65.dll to the .bat file on another machine where the driver was not yet updated and ccminer worked fine without going through the update. Kinda good to know in the case of a driver rollback or other testing. So it looks like , at least in this case, a matching dll would would work for others who have not or do not want to fully update. This was related to the 750ti btw.
