The noise of S9's fans are quite higher pitched than the old S7 Antminers, but both are really annoying.
If that's the case, you will be forced to pick one Antminer S9 or your wife?

Okay thanks. So with just the one it'd be pretty loud, but the heat is easily controlled, right? From what I've heard from other people, the noise is the only real problem with having just one in your home. I've seen some videos on noise reduction and cooling in a sound-proof box. I'll be closing this thread now, thank you for all of your (such quick) answers!
You can run one in your house, it will get a lot warmer, but probably not overheat.

I'm getting an Antminer V9 soon. I just refer to them as "computers" sorry if that's unclear. But will just the one in my air-conditioned house be fine? Or will I need a whole cooling rig? Bitmain says that it runs at a high of 40c or a little over 100f. Will it overheat without a special cooling setup?

I'm not sure if I need a cooling rig for just one computer, but some sites say I need equipment that's more expensive than the computer itself! I don't think this is meant for a residential environment (just my house not some big warehouse full of computers). So I'm wondering, do I really need to get a huge cooling setup, or will just keeping the room it's in at a reasonable level be enough? Thanks for any help in advance!
