We have written this security patch along side best advice from our exchange partners. They will take time to audit the update and let the hard fork stabilise before resuming deposits and withdrawals. We are not expecting it to cause NAV to be delisted from any exchanges. The full list of what's been modified is in the release notes:

https://github.com/NAVCoin/navcoin-core/releases/tag/4.1.0

- New genesis block for the testnet.
- Community fund enabled on the testnet.
- New block version structure. Rejects blocks with wrong version.
- Blocks will still signal version bits even after activation.
- Nodes with obsolete protocol versions get their messages rejected instead of being banned.
- Improvements in the Script check methods.
- Reason for messages being rejected are now registered in the log file.
- Signature Hash now includes nTime and strDZeel.
- Wallet is able to track other wallet’s versions and displays a warning when a majority has updated to a new version.
- New format of stake voting. Votings can be dynamically be pushed into the network. New RPC method ‘stakervote’.
- Adds ‘donatefund’ RPC method to donate to the community fund.
- Moved many consensus related parameters to chainparams.cpp
- Fixes a bug where a transaction could have a timestamp earlier than the outputs it spent.
- Fixes a bug where the staker thread could be interrupted.
- Fixes a bug which prevents node to start syncing at boot under some circumstances.

Community Fund Testnet & Security Updates

Over the last few days we have been working tirelessly with Bittrex to resolve a network issue which they kindly alerted us to and have been assisting us to fix. To resolve the issue and get the exchanges back open for deposits and withdrawals we are required to release a new version of NavCoin Core (4.1.0) and we ask that everyone please update as soon as possible.

We're posting this on behalf of Colvano. The team will be managing the funds and helping out where we can, but this is a community lead campaign Smiley Looking forward to it!

A lot of NAV investors/community members have spoken about NAV marketing. Many want to help with the marketing and the first step is a Banner Contest. NAV could use more attention. Great technology is being developed, now it is time to let everyone learn more about NAV!

Why banners?

Banners can be used for advertising. An Adwords campaign will be started with NAV Coin banners shown on multiple websites all over the internet. The Adwords campaign will focus on relevant cryptocurrency websites. The banners will bring exposure to NAV and generate traffic to the NAV Coin channels.

Is there a bounty?

Yes! The winner of the NAV Coin banner contest will win a sum of 500 NAV Coin! But there is more, the second place will earn 250 NAV. The more banners, the better! Did not win? There is still a chance your banner will get used for the campaign, depending on the amount of banners submitted and quality of the banners.

The bounty is paid for by the NAV Community. All other donations to the NAV address go towards the marketing campaign where the banners will be used. The balance can be viewed here.. You can donate to the marketing fund by sending NAV to the marketing fund shown at the bottom of this page.

What should the banners look like?

The banners have to show the core elements of NAV Coin. What makes NAV unique? Why should people read about it? Examples are the anonymous transactions, double blockchain, NAV Polymorph, fast transactions… Make sure the banners fit the required sizes as shown in the image below. Try to keep it simple, and make people curious to click into it.

Who votes for the winner?

Everyone. NAV Coin is an open source project and everyone will be able to cast their vote. The winner will get the bounty and the banners will be used for the marketing campaign. The campaign will start as soon as possible!

Where to submit the banners?

Please submit your creation(s) to the Bitcointalk forum.

When does the competition end?

Submit your banner(s) before Wednesday 12 July 2017.

Can I submit more than one banner?

Yes! You can submit as many as you like. The more submissions, the more chance to win and have your banner featured all across the internet.

How to create banners?

There are many tools available to create banners, be creative! Google Adwords and Canva can be used to create banners for free. Have a look at it and surprise us all.

The banner sizes should be like those shown below. Those are the most successful banner shapes and sizes.

NAV also has an official Development/General Fund that you can find here: https://navcoin.org/getting-started/

Project Progress, New Engineers, Marketing Strategy Update

The Nav Coin Team has been hard at work this week, making progress on our major projects as well as onboarding new engineers. Behind the scenes the marketing team have been working on some great tools which will be added to the website soon.

Polymorph has entered its 4th sprint cycle with the main user interface built. We are now progressing to work on the changelly and block chain integrations which will enable the private sending of the top 35+ cryptocurrencies through our dual blockchain based private payment system. Last sprint we completed 37 points which is a new record for the team. Lots of great work done and the project is really picking up speed.

https://github.com/NAVCoin/polymorph

NavTech 1.2 has started in full, with Alex and Craig focusing on the adding the new functionality to both the core wallet and the NavTech source itself. We are adding some interesting features to obscure metadata analysis of private payments; time delay, value rounding, multiple addresses and more. We are hoping to bundle this release with some important segwit updates for release as soon as practical. The current sprint will be the main development sprint, followed by a sprint of testing, peer review and bug fixing. We are aiming to release NavTech 1.2 and Nav Coin Core v4.0.4 at the end of following sprint once the testing is completed. After a flurry of wallet updates, we are trying to slow down rate of our wallet releases and make sure we make the effort to upgrade worthwhile and our releases thoroughly peer reviewed.

https://github.com/NAVCoin/navtech

https://github.com/NAVCoin/navcoin-core

Troy Cornwall from Auckland, New Zealand joins the team as one of our new Software Engineers. He will be working with Victor on the Nav Pi 2.0 project, rebuilding the Nav Pi interface using Node & Javascript. Troy has worked with Craig, Victor and Matt in the past and is a great addition to the team.

We have also had 3 Software Engineers from our community offer to assist on our projects. With the Auckland based team focusing on Polymorph, NavPi and NavTech, they will be joining Alex to work on the Core wallet and Copay Wallets.

Expanding our Engineering Team will enable us to deliver an even higher standard of software than previously possible. We have begun implementing team wide peer review of all code committed to Nav Coin Core and NavTech. This is to both begin to educate new team members on our core products as well as providing more eyes on the source code to help find bugs and optimize our code base.

Nav Coin is in essence a community project, our team has been ever evolving as new people become involved and old members fade away. With these latest additions, we have taken some time to restructure the Nav Coin Team section to more accurately display who is currently active on the project with the inactive team members relegated to the Legacy Team section.

We currently have the strongest development and strategy teams in the history of Nav Coin and we are all looking forward to taking the project to its natural next level.

https://navcoin.org/#team

The Strategy Team has been working on a detailed FAQ to add to the Nav Coin Website. This not only will be of great help to newcomers to the coin, but will of course also be a great resource for search engine listings.
Our facebook posts continue to get a higher level of interaction as we refine our advertising strategy and continue to look at how we can extend our social reach.

We have also been reaching out to charities who work on at-risk causes which could benefit from private donations to see if we can help them integrate NavTech payments to their systems. We are persistent in our goal to prove that private payments can and should be used for socially beneficial purposes.

All projects have been updated on the roadmap.

https://navcoin.org/project-roadmap/#in-progress

Talk soon,
Nav Coin Team.
