Which is better for an S5 miner, to put it on a mining pool like KanoPool or rent it out thru MRR,ebay, etc?

Kano is a great pool, but  not for a single S5. You would probably be better off with a pool that does consolidated payouts because the transaction fees to move your earnings  will be very high compared to your earnings

Would that 1080ti work in that rig. 700 is cheap compared to building a dedicated rig

Hi Phil,

What software do you use to mine? I'm keen to try my hand  at mining alt coins.

Edit - question 1  answered I read your signature

Also, is it feasible/possible to slap one or two of those into a machine which currently acts as a home server and keep its current function and just use the Gpu to mine?

Okay  amd  is smOS

smOS is a dedicated linux  you lose  the pc  for other stuff

nvidia is

EMBF_     in a windows 7  pro  box  .    If you mine zec the pc  can do other shit.

the better the cpu  and 2 sticks of 8gb or more ram in the server  you can run the nvidia in the background.

If you want amd in the background mining  you need a windows box or a linux  not dedicated to smos

there are at least 4 dedicated linux setups

nvOC -- for nvidia

Thanks! I've got an oldish I7 with 16gb ram and a gazillion hard drives, a 1000w PSu Windows 10 and no Gpu, primarily use it for Plex - I am terrified of reloading an OS for fear of losing 20+tb of media in my clunky old raid setup

I'll try an Nvidia in there - just need to check that I have a pci slot that doesn't have a raid card and I could be in for just the price of the Gpu

Do you have any real world experience in advertising?

The organisation I work for is a medium sized retail chain in a relatively small country (ranked 41 by gdp) , and around 20% of our media spend is with Google.  Our annual Google spend is close to a million dollars,  so those numbers are not just numbers on a page.

They are very realistic numbers!

Luno is a South African company that has gone multinational- you can do deposits and withdrawals into local South African accounts. Pretty much fuss free.

You do need to register and Fica , they are fully licensed, and as I understand it Naspers has a large stake in them. (Owners of DSTV, Multichoice, tencent,)

I've been using them since 2013 they used to be called bit-x

There is a big premium being charged by most traders in SA on localbitcoins

I don't find the advertising argument very convincing.

If you were the advertiser, be honest, how much would you pay for Google Ads? Considering how effective it is, I doubt it would be very much.

And think, Google have a huge amount of R&D, some of which is never commercialised, all of which requires top professionals in their field. It doesn't seem to add up. How can Google really be the biggest technology company right now, and probably the biggest ever, just from the advertising revenue that 80% or 90% or users never engage with?

Are you kidding. That's one of the funniest things I have ever read. You should consider a career in standup.

What is the temperature of your miners?
+-80° except for one chip that is 95°. I'm a bit worried about that one

2 Blades on My batch 1 S9 with auto tune firmware frequently run above 110deg in a well ventilated room, even when set down to 600mhz

If you don't mind m asking, what are you doing with your mined coins?

Saving? Selling on Luno/ ice3x etc, or selling on Localbitcoins.com ?

And what is your electricity rate?

I think they are being DDos'd because some players don't like their agenda, but even when the frontend goes down the miners still connect.

I've had an S9 pointed there for 13 days and every day like clockwork at 8:00 am my time (except for 2 days when it came at around 9) I get my .0078... BTC

I like the pool, I hope they last - if they don't oh well I'm at risk for .0078... Btc

I think my complaint about bitmainwarranty was premature - I didn't factor in that they probably have chinese staff - and chinese new year

I'm pretty pleased with the service of Bitmain Warranty in Denver, CO.  Smiley
Even though the board they repaired for me didn't work properly after all (it keeps dropping to zero hash rate and shows a row of x's),
they handled fixing the situation very well.
They will send me a working hash board in exchange after I have sent (I just actually came back from the post office) the faulty board back for them.

I can definitely recommend them for fixing your miner.

And thank you Phil and the others who have shared previous experience with them.

They seem very slow to me, they have my S9 board since 18th Jan and still waiting for a quote

Is there any problem with the pool, my miner shows dead connection on 3333 and 81  to kano -- has failed over to antp00
Nope.

Edit: the account matching your username shows no shares for more than 7 days since march.

Edit2: checking the IP ... the other account that seems to be yours, the IP address is OK, no banning - so I guess it must be at your end.
Shares to that account stopped 15 hrs ago (as your workers page shows)

Hi Account is batminer.  tried a reboot still fails over to ant.

My internet connection was very sketchy last night- not sure if that would cause a banning."?

it is the most advanced machine of its kind with cutting edge technology--- with Chinese "just good enough" engineering

It is bound to have a few catch fire.  ---- nothing to see here ,,, move along

It is still hands down best Bitcoin machine available at any price

that's a S7, this is S9 thread, let's stay on topic as much as we can but much thx for sharing.

will monitor the miners closely.

Do you really believe that this can not happen with S9 ?  I already sent one S9 B1 blade to China. Costs for me 70 euro.
Blade works maximum 2-3 hours since the arrival with lower hasheate. Fortunately, he was not burned. But I have some S7 boards with fallen off chips with radiators.
