Re: Most promising coins of 2018
by

Funfair (FUN) is a really promising token with some groundbreaking state channels that will allow for provably fair gambling while merging several rolls into a single ethereum transaction.

I also like Kyber network as they will introduce decentralized markets with extra features like derivatives and options trading.

FUN does seem to be an interesting project, probably the most "serious" one in the gambling section of cryptocurrencies. I'm definitely taking a closer look at it whenever i rebalance my portfolio in the upcoming month, for holding through 2018.

Re: Why chose BITCOIN rather than other investments e.g. Stocks/shares

Its not only about money, you know. I'm in bitcoin because i believe in the potential the coin (along with many other cryptocurrencies) has to change our world into something better for us regular folk. Stocks and shares dont have that, they're just fluctuating numbers.

Well there's your answer i guess, lol. Ethereum reached 700 in the same day it reached 600, all crypto is witnessing an insane bull run. I hope it continues the same way next year Cheesy

Re: What would happen if bitcoin miners stop?
by
Saifher
on 12/12/2017, 23:48:25 UTC
It is not possible for them to stop as it will always go back to being profitable at some point and nobody will miss the chance to mine then.

This is true. It'll always reach an equilibrium where it will be profitable to mine for someone. I think only a tragedy would mean everyone stops mining Bitcoin, or if the price suddenly tanks to almost zero.

Re: ETH and LTC which is valuable ?
by
Saifher
on 12/12/2017, 13:59:20 UTC
They are both valuable in their own ways, but Ethereum is out to do much more than Litecoin, which aims to simply be a currency with fast and cheap transactions (which ethereum will also have). Invest on both, but if you have to pick one, go for Ether.

Re: 12 000$ to invest on cryptocurrencies

For your portfolio i'd recommend buying monero, litecoin and ethereum. All 3 are having a bit of a run now though, so wait for a dip. Their 2018-2019 is very promising, so any discount price you can get in now will be worth a lot in the mid term.

I dont think we'll see a crash soon. There are so many people first hearing about cryptocurrencies and investing now, it's crazy. We might see insane growth before a correction comes along.

Not all alts will survive, but the best ones definitely will - and they'll thrive in this new cryptocurrency craze that has been taking most of our society by storm. We have the chance to be early adopters for most, luckily Smiley

Re: 2018 The year of the altcoin
by
Saifher
on 12/12/2017, 02:19:24 UTC
I think 2018 will be a crazy year. Many altcoins will grow exponentially, going 10-20x even... But i think some others will not be able to deliver a good product and will end up labeled at shitcoins before the year ends. Next year will be hit or miss for many with the increasing adoption of cryptos.

Cryptokitties was just a taste of whats to come. But if plenty of popular dapps start popping up too quickly i think the fee problem will come back to haunt us... We still need more capacity to withstand the huge crowd that is coming

I think IOTAs price will go sideways for a bit. Thats usually how it goes in cryptocurrencies - after a long and steep bull run the hype dies a little (which is natural) and the price consolidates for a few weeks. We can expect it to start moving again early next year.

I think the next few months will see a lot of money flowing into Monero. It usually lags behind other cryptos in gains but then makes up for it with some insane bull runs, usually (almost) doubling the price.

The discounts didn't last long unfortunately! Prices are already recovering to their previous support levels and we're headed into an unpredictable week with the futures bitcoin markets opening up... I hope there are no more 'red sundays' for a while Tongue

Re: what to do if bitcoin decreases?
by
Saifher
on 09/12/2017, 23:39:38 UTC
If Bitcoin decreases then it's time to buy more Bitcoin.
Bitcoin dumped many times but still pumped back and surpasses the previous price so, then time Bitcoin's price dumped, I would choose to dump my Ethereum and other tokens abd buy Bitcoin.

Pretty spot on. If Bitcoin dips too much then it is a good decision to switch back from alts to bitcoin (maybe not ethereum, but most others certainly).

I believe in the technology for the long term, so a short term dip is nothing but noise when you zoom out and analyze without your emotions.

Re: I have lost hope in ETHEREUM - Pending transaction won't complete
by
Saifher
on 09/12/2017, 10:07:04 UTC
Growing pains.

If everyone lost hope every time the early internet was extremely lagged or went down then we might not be talking to each other online in this way.

It does suck that your money is in limbo and hope you get it out soon but please be patient and hold on to hope.

Qiwoman.. now that is a name I haven't heard since the good of Poloniex trollbox days!  You make your riches yet?

Great point. I think that all blockchains that succeed will have to struggle like Bitcoin and Ethereum are struggling now in terms of transaction capacity. It shows that there is a huge demand for the network and that many people are trying to use it, and once the tx limit is increased, it's going to be insane in terms of adoption and price.

Re: What Should I do as a newbie?
by

on 09/12/2017, 10:05:11 UTC
You've got a lot of reading and catching up to do if you're a newbie. Cryptocurrencies are no joke, and you'll be better off knowing what you're getting yourself into before deciding to invest any savings you have. This forum is a great place to start with, but also make sure you gather information from many different sources (reliable and neutral sources, otherwise you should consider it noise).

Re: Bitcoin as payment system
by
Saifher
on 09/12/2017, 10:02:37 UTC
I really wish bitcoin is still seen as a payment option/currency in the future. We have a great and innovative technology in our hands, it would be very sad to see it being wasted. But first we need to find ways to enable more transactions per second on the blockchain, so that any number of people can use it fast and cheap.

Re: Bitcoin disadvantages?
by
Saifher

I think the main disadvantage right now is that its growing too fast! The capacity of the blockchain is not high enough to withstand this many people using it and transfering their funds. Whenever we are able to send tx's cheaply and fast again, then bitcoin will conquer the world.

Re: Would you still buy Bitcoin?
by
Saifher
on 09/12/2017, 09:53:48 UTC
I always buy some bitcoin whenever i can. I dont even think much about the current price because i believe it will be worth much more in the future. Save some percentage of your weekly or monthly paycheck and invest with it, you won't regret it in the long run (remember to only invest what you can afford to lose without ruining yourself financially).
