Re: Bitcoin Cash what are your thoughts?

The marked cap of BCH is false, because it was a fork of bitcoin, there are millions of bch that has never been claimed. Only reason it is holding any value, is it's low supply and a few large holders that have lost too much to sell.

If it were to ever go high in price, there would be lots of fresh bch sold from people who didn't bother claiming it for 5% of their bitcoin

I also also ran rescan_bc and still ended up with my original amount of MoneroV "x' and not x10.

I just did this process today.  Did I have to do this process on fork date or close to?  As far as I can imagine that shouldn't be the case.

Anybodies thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

There was some kind of bug with importing wallet people talked about, one thing that works is to import from the seed instead if you want a fast easy solution.

Hi All,

Bit of an amateur question but I have a Kraken account and bitcoins on this exchange are ticker XBT and on Coinex bitcoins are under ticker BTC. I didn't realise there were different ticker symbols for bitcoin?
Also, I emailed Coinex to ask about sending Bitcoins (XBT) from Kraken to my Coinex account to buy XMV's but got this message in reply:

"Thanks for contacting CoinEx support.
BTC address is ONLY available for BTC deposit. Minimum limit for each deposit is 0.0006. Any deposit below minimum limit or non-BTC deposit will NOT be added to your account and it is NOT refundable.
Therefore, I suggest you DON'T deposit non-BTC on BTC wallet of CoinEx.

Kind regards"

Can anyone explain this to me please and where can I buy BTC?

Thanks in advance!

Anyone?

Pretty sure Kraken just list Bitcoin (BTC) as XBT, not sure why. But it is still bitcoin (BTC). Bitcoin Cash is listed as BCH. That Coinex site probably just got confused thinking you were asking about some random bitcoin fork called XBT.

MoneroV requires Monero holders’ private keys to receive tokens from the airdrop, leaving many to question the safety and privacy of MoneroV’s launch.  MoneroV has recommended solutions to these risks, but many are convinced these issues should not have arisen in the first place. While the MoneroV project is open-source, the MoneroV wallet is not, meaning the wallet source code cannot be audited prior to launch.
[/b]

That's false. This is like every fork, always remove your original coins to another safe wallet, before you try extract forks. You don't have to risk anything to use moneroV if you take precautions. If you don't do any precautions you'll have a short stay in crypto anyway.

I've just noticed that my GB adress I have now is also different from the one I linked last month with the bot.  Shocked
Hope I still get my GB from the airdrop? Is it even necessary to link BTC adress when your holding GB in your Byteball wallet?

the bot is sleeping again right?

If you have Gbyte you will always get your share of gbyte, but if your not linked you don't get blackbytes.

Mtgox enable withdraws again, people realise they was stupid and sold all their bitcoins way to cheap. Fight over the cheap coins immediatly pushes the price on mtgox higher then the other exchanges ( since it still takes over a month to get out fiat, not to even talk about the US people). Making the other exchanges follow, albeit still at a lower price then mtgox.

Well Savior said that he received Eur at 15 Jan and 4 Feb which i doubt because it's second transfer should be confirmed after 15 Jan , and has we know several people had confirmed sepa from earlier, me included, and nothing yet.

Savior : if o see this post tell us when did ask your 4 Feb transfer .

I think many people already realize that online gaming is going to be a giant catalyst for bitcoin adoption, especially as an MMO in-game currency. It is only a matter of time before you buy your armor and weapons with btc, loot monsters for btc, and can cash out your btc. Imagine the day when you battle another player, loot his armor, sell it, withdraw, and make your car payment.

I project that in a few years btc use in virtual economies will surpass btc use in the "real" economy. If there is anything btc would excel at, it would be for in-game currency. Adoption in virtual worlds could take bitcoins to an entirely different level. Odd that no one is even talking much about this.

Sorry this will not happen.

This makes for a completely different game, the entire game economy has to be based on the fact that it's real money. Hence there is only two games with a real cash economy that I am aware of, the most popular being Entropia Universe, neither of which has a very large player base. Why? Well, people need to lose money for the game to go around, hence the incentive to actually play is alot harder to create. In Entropia the principal is pretty much if you get ahead of everyone else, you can make a small profit. Giving people virtual gold is not costing the company anything, giving out more bitcoins then they take in can't be done. Which is why games like WoW will remain dominant for a long long time.

Markets for virtual game currencies to btc convertions however will become more and more popular, and already exists.

Re: How debt work in a XBT-only economy
by
Savior
on 13/12/2013, 15:44:23 UTC
Ok, let's put it this way.. imagine that last May I wanted to buy 10 Trezor (I imagine you're familiar with it and I don't need to explain), their price was (??) 1 BTC each, therefore I needed 10 BTC which I didn't have. So I ask my friend Bob to lend me 10 BTC, with the agreement I will give him back 1BTC per month. Please note that when we did the agreement 1BTC=100USD (total debt 10BTC equivalent to 1000USD). Now, we are in December, I still owe my friend 4 BTC, but those 4 BTC equal almost 4000USD. Since I am buying those bitcoins each month when i receive my salary (if I had all the money at the beginning I wouldn't have ask my friend) my residual debt is now 4000USD, 4x my initial debt.

This is just in a short period, imagine this in 2 years time, with a longer time involved to pay back and a bigger amount involved. Solutions? Smiley

Don't take a loan. It's really not needed, even for businesses they can get investors instead. This is also only a problem in bitcoins massive growth period, once it slows down, it will be less punishing to borrow btc.

Best exchange out there without a doubt, for norwegians there is no question. Every single withdraw was processed in less then 24 hours. (have to wait on banks ofcourse thought, weekends etc) Only thing still lacking is volume, but it's getting better every week. Now with more then 11 000 registered.

Re: 200,000 people apply to be first to live on Mars
by
Savior
on 12/12/2013, 01:01:03 UTC
Since i have family here on earth, i wouldn't take the trip basicly because i would never get to see them again. But in chase of they all died (very unlikely but still), then i would have no problem with living on Mars. For the love of god, you get to share your daily life with 199.999 other people..
My only concern is how/what currencies system they are gonna use and what they are gonna do in chase of a baby boom suddenly happening.

There will not be 200 000 people on Mars, that's the number of applicants. I think they was planning to send four people first, and then four more while the base was building. I have doubts about this project, but would be cool if they actually made it happen anytime soon.
