Re: A guide for mining efficiently on P2Pool, includes FUD repellent and FAQ

Has the advice at the beginning of this thread been updated to take into account current difficulty and network hashing power, and newer hardware?

Also, what is best practice for tacking "/2000+512" or whatever onto the end of your BTC address to set a higher share quality and manual difficulty?

I'm finding myself on a good network connection with low latency on good hardware and I suddenly have 2TH of miners on my node, but hardly anybody is getting shares.

Thanks In Advance

So to be clear, when someone stops mining for a short period of time, you steal all their untraded and immature coins.

Keep the 0.004 btc. It was worth it to learn the lesson.

The numbers aren't adding up. My 7MH with 0.01 percent rejects rate should have made more than it did. Your payout rate for me yesterday was 250 instead of the 277 you claim you paid. That, and for some inexplicable reason not showing in my logs you recorded my hashrate at 2.5MH for about four hours when I know it never dropped below 7MH. You guys feel shady. Sorry. If the numbers added up like say, they always add up on clevermining (who is more profitable than you are anyway) then there'd be nothing to complain about. It's math. I suggest everyone do the math and see if it adds up. I'm going back to clevermining.

I was sending the last coins to cryptsy but in my wallet the transaction is confirmed and i do not see anything on cryptsy... Someone?

Cryptsy suspended deposits pending investigation. AC is down on Cryptsy. They are only allowing withdraws right now.

phi.altmine.net p2pool

* Dedicated servers in Europe with 1 Gbit/s connection and DDoS protection.
* No user account required.
* Instant payouts when blocks are found.
* Only 1% fee.

Could I steal a copy of your networks.py and bitcoin/networks.py ? I want to set up a North American node.

Thanks In Advance

I'd love to set up a p2pool node. Could someone link the p2pool code, or the diff for networks.py? Thanks In Advance

Here's the code for a frontend that somebody just made https://github.com/justino/p2pool-ui-punchy
Good luck!

Actually, this is just some custom p2pool front-end code. I have my own. I need the actual p2pool/networks.py and p2pool/bitcoin/networks.py for Nautiluscoin to set up the pool.

Thanks though.

Re: With ASICs on the horizon should DigiByte switch algorithms?
by

GPU miners only want their hardware to work. DigiShield was all the fix any coin needed. Scrypt asics aren't the multiple orders of magnitude more powerful than GPU's like sha256 was because scrypt is a lot harder to "game". You end up with an asic that is marginally better. Switching algorithms means that huge farm GPU guys (the children whining) can monopolize a coin. At least right now someone hobby mining can go buy a gridseed for a hundred bucks and compete. Switching algorithms is pointless, and a huge waste of time that only benefits the whiny GPU miner.

But more importantly.... look what happened to Blackcoin. They ended up having to set up a compromise multipool just for their coin because nobody likes weird algorithm coins. They all fail. Switching the algorithm will kill Digibyte. People don't like unpopular algorithms. Those coins all fail.

There has been issues with the P2pools, check the settings for the protocol version, we have changed it a few times to fix forking issues, your protocol version should be "70006", of coarse I don't really know the specifics of p2pool but it may be the problem.

I'm on 70006. Thanks for the quick reply though.

I've had to stop my cga p2pool server twice to re-download the blockchain. It keeps getting hosed. Something is wrong with the daemon or network. I'm going to keep it down until there's a fix.

Just a thought.... It might be a good idea for EMC2 to see if they can get some sort of cross licensing thing, or at least help out with the new Cosmos series somehow. A lot of science dorks (like me) have subconsciously drawn lines between EMC2 and that series already.

Why anybody would use anything other than p2pool for a coin that pays so quickly with just a few MH is beyond me. If you can find a p2pool node you ping better than 30ms to, it's going to beat any regular pool. It's like this coin was made for p2pool. Hell, set up your own node. I did.

I pulled the source from GIT literally days ago, so unless the devs didn't have the GIT code updated, I should be fine.

Correct, this is the latest version (protocol 70003 / version 80701).

Good! I love your coin, and I've had a few visitors to my pool.

If you can find a P2Pool within 50ms they always payout better anyway. Not using P2Pool is just giving up profit.

I picked EMC2 as my "Up and Comer" coin to host as a p2pool on http://p2pool.sawilson.org . 1 percent fee. Very low latency if you are on the east coast (check!). So if you are a big fan of p2pool mining like I am and you can't get a good ping to the tiny handful of EMC2 p2pool servers, try mine.

can you confirm you are on the proper fork ?

we believe a node that started today is still on the old fork.

I will send you a PM as well.

Thanks.
