Hold the line, the hard part is next.  When the amount you have invested is now worth 1/2.  get back to me.

Then, hold.  it gets even worse....

The hard part is when you convince you're relatives that you weren't stupid for not selling at this price.

Re: Can you force the US government to accept a private key?

It is legally possible to force the US government to do things against its will, for example look into a Freedom of Information Act request.  They are also legally obligated to do certain things under certain circumstances, for example keeping juvenile criminal records from becoming public.  It is more an example of the second type I was looking for: some existing method I could use to send them a key they were then obligated to keep, and keep privately.

And Seriouscoin?  You need to get out more...

Under current law, is there any way to force the US government to accept and secure a private key.

they already have a bitcoin client and private key. they moved the silk road funds to it.

but i still wonder what your actually asking..

1. you want government to own bitcoins?
2. you want to make a random donation to them?

i thought they already had enough funds with fiat. why give away bitcoin to them, its rare remember. you might aswell give all your gold and silver jewelry to them for no reason. i would also say your house, but the way mortgages work, they already own your house.

1. no
2. no

I am interested if i can force them to be a party to a 2 of 3 transaction.

Do you believe that bitcoins will be worth more in the future than they are right now?

I understand where you're trying to go with this, but this is the only bitcoin rally song we will ever need:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7TuFy0fcuw

Not at all. I believe in the long-term viability of Bitcoin, and my song was composed in that spirit. I doubt we're ever going to see those single digits the proudhon song insists will be coming "soon" (since April of last year...).

I read the Proudhon song as pure satire.  Every time the price starts to rise, I can't get it out of my head.  (If you don't see what I mean, play it when we hit $5000 and yell "It's only a BUBBLE!" triumphantly at the appropriate point.)

However, I didn't realize that you had composed that other song.  I'll quit screwing with your thread.

How about you sour lames relax and take a moment to take care of yourselves? Let others do what they want, but hey if you need a mob mentality to get you through your days then do your thing. See how no one cares about what you do? That's how it should be, take some time to think about that.

Sour lames is awesome, quoting to remember.
