Re: How to do micro payments with bitcoin?
by

on 27/02/2018, 10:30:50 UTC
blockstream has also recently release a micro payment processing system... incoropration of lightning networks claim to potentially solve this issue
- otherwise better of using other coins like viacoin, etc. for micropayments.. fast reliable and dirt cheap transaction fees.

Re: Does the Price of Bitcoin Matter?
by
SerHodlot
on 25/01/2018, 10:53:54 UTC
Price of bitcoin does matter, but the belief in bitcoin's success and its practicalities are even more important.. That is what gives bitcoin its "real" value that is clearly not defined yet.. current price is all speculation whether it goes up or down or to 50k or 5k. I see most people in this thread state the price of bitcoin does matter because people will be happy with it, or people need salaries lol wtf? irrelevant.

mainstream adoption needs to happen (eventually will) but until then, the price of bitcoin is just an attractive investment vehicle for new comers, crypto space needs stability and organic growth.. and will continue this trend, so the price isn't as importance as other variables.

bitcoin is prediction to hit 55k this year (possible, could be higher)...

until then expect major volatility, but it is never too late to get into bitcoin.. especially at these levels after a 50% drop..

if you are planning to invest long term you are fine, if you are planning to invest for quick gains, then good luck and watch out! play safe!

Just the same ol' FUD.

Otherwise you can call it Bitcoin's correction which was long overdue (or due to CME futures, take your pick  Wink )

Moreover, as i think has been mentioned several times in this thread, China fud, South Korea fud, newcomers are so vulnerable to any negative news that relates to banning of icos, tradining, bitcoin, etc. In short, newcomers sell, alt coins drop.

cryptopia is fine... sometimes there is a delay in support tickets, but which exchange doesn't have this...

so far everything has been alright with me, deposits, withdrawals, etc.

just make a strong password and 2fa, and try not keep it on the exchanges for too long (if you wanna put it in cold storage)

a lot of shitcoins on there of course, but as an exchange, functions well.

Re: How to deal with stress?

i read a comment before that said stop looking at bitcoin charts  Grin very true.

if you are looking daily at charts by all means try to stop.

but that aside, try taking walks, 30 mins every day to cool your head off. Meditate if you can, but a lot of people find this difficult.. so i suggest just taking a stroll. Working out takes off a BUNCH of stress, and can give you a strong feeling of relaxation, muscle relaxing and blows out a lot of steam that might be building up and triggering your anxiety and most importantly you will also sleep better as a result!

Re: Hold or Sell
by
SerHodlot
on 19/01/2018, 14:04:18 UTC
i base a lot of my trades on fibs, and previous highs, fractals,... sell a small portion on every target hit.. and eventually you can sell at the top. (mostly with alts - you can also do this vice versa to find bottoms).

in crypto it doesn't make sense to sell all your assets, otherwise you'll find yourself gruding why you didn't hold longer or sell sooner.. If you bought a lot of bottoms in December, then the best strategy is to sell 10%, 25% or 50% of your assets when they all hit between 150-500% increases, and hodl the rest.. truth is we don't really know where any of these coins are going (we can guess and estimate), but most people who sold at the top is based on luck...

when all indicators show oversold, out of bollingers, exhausted, then by all means make a small sell.. i just wouldn't sell your whole position. Save those earnings as ammo when high volatility hits again, and big dumps come in play..

hope that helps a little, in essence there is never really a "right time to sell", should be up to you, and if you are pleased with a x2 gain,  by all means congratulate yourself and be happy with your earnings!!!  Grin Grin

happy trading/investing!

damn lol, talk about being an emotional trader..

110k in unrealised profits should be the correct term here.. if you are better off selling everything for your mental health, as i've seen from the previous thread that your views on bitcoin correlate with price.. then that might just be the best option for you Tongue

So in short, you have only traded in a bull market.. where pretty much anyone can make money.. but also lose if you have no exit strategy..

you are right in a lot of sense, especially with market makers and market manipulation, and without a doubt bitconnect lol..

its a rollercoaster for sure... but sometimes you need to look at how the market is, during bull or bear, you need to implement a proper risk management and exit strategy... before throwing you $$ in.. taking profit at the right time is perhaps the most difficult, and sticking to your original plan... if you make a few 100% on a coin, you cash it out piece by piece.. instead of hoping for the next etheruem boom.

to lose 110k means you pretty much traded so emotionally, buying high and selling at a loss... when in fact (as you may have seen in previous years), the cycles continue.. those who hold and are patient win... day traders will eventually lose. no brainer there.

sorry for your loss, i also lost heavily shorting some crypto in mid 2016.. and never made the same mistake again.

again, the markets will recover.. and in due time you will find a lot of panic sellers rebuying their stock.. if you invested money that you can afford to lose, you would have no emotional attachment to those funds, so just shut off your accounts, or put your coins on a ledger and leave things for a year... Smiley

all the best though!

Re: Why are ICO banned for some countries
by
SerHodlot
on 12/01/2018, 15:26:46 UTC
lack of government laws and regulations around ICOs is the reason for countries banning them... it is a threat to their current financial systems, traditional VC investment fundings..

some will argue that it is to stop scams, ponzi schemes, and people throwing in money into high-tech pump and dump schemes, but that is just the tip of the iceberg.. but let's face it, most governments do not really concern themselves with the financial well-being of their nationals.. esprcially on a mass scale.

if a government can't control it.. then they ban it.. simple solution in their eyes.

you cant really, the alt coins value is too low for the minimum transaction required..

perhaps if you REALLY want to get rid of it, you can buy the exact amount to withdraw all of it (including transaction fee) - but really.. why bother .. its probably just a few cents. and will cost you another transaction fee when purchasing that same currency..

just "hodl" it.. i did that with stellar from almost 2 years back

playful joking is alright (whether this is throwing insults at one another.. just normal as kids, especially when growing up together)... but when things are getting too much and it becomes an emotional strain on yourself, then you can really determine whether they are true friends or not..  it really shows their true colours if they show no empathy to your emotional well-being..

seems like it has been happening for some time..

if you have asked them to stop on multiple occasions, yet they continue, drop them... they are not good for you and for your general well-being.. true friends are there for one another.

there are PLENTY of people in this world, don't resort yourself to those who don't care.. waste of time and you have better things to do and other things more important to care for in your life! you can make new friends very fast, move cities, get a new job and find your ground Smiley don't get stuck with these guys.. whoever they are.

"Mastering bitcoin" and "The internet of money" by Andreas Antonopoulos is a GREAT way to start
- just an easy flowing written book.

others might think otherwise but to start off as a new comer.. this book is ace..

also just browse through some good articles on what is bitcoin, its functionality, use cases, mining, other attributes, etc. try to understand why it is so important, so hyped, and why banks, financial institutions are incredibly wary of the tech.

learn about third party service providers, any service that requires an intermediary and challenge yourself to see how blockchain can be implemented to remove this, is it realistic, feasible? I think that would be a great way to start.

it's so important to learn the functionalities and technicalities of bitcoin and blockchain before doing anything else.

as a first point: understand that the blockchain allows you to take control and safeguard of your own assets. so take advantage of this technology! learn how to do this as a start before anything else.  Grin Grin

Re: Sending crypto from one exchange to the other
by
SerHodlot
on 11/01/2018, 13:11:35 UTC
yes, but the best way is to purchase the bitcoin via btc api in your country (i.e. bitpanda in germany or bitonic in the Netherlands, or your country's equivalent) and just send it to your bitcoin deposit address on the exchange where the crypto is that you want to purchase.

That way you also rule out other transaction costs of sending btc to exchange A and then realising you want to purchase a crypto on exchange B and will have to send btc again..

hope that helps!

use alt currencies like via, ltc, etc. they are much faster, have been very reliable in timing, arrival, and cost effective..

never had a problem with them.

just try to not use btc as a means of transactions if you want to not pay such high fees.

can use binance, bittrex, poloniex, etc. so long as you use certain alt currencies, you are fine.

if bitcoin where to crash 90%.... altcoins will crash x3 x4 fold...

altcoins are only strong when bitcoin is stable...

but anyway, strange title to assume bitcoin crashes and burns :p even if bitcoin where to dump to 8k it still rose 400-500% during 2017  Grin Grin
