For miners, just make sure that you and your pool are on the correct chain, compare the block height with the one on the explorer. I believe the explorer are up to date.

When the new wallet software is release, you will just need to upgrade the .exe. There might be some special instructions but it might be a simple delete old .exe and put in new .exe.  Either way, your wallet.dat and associated addresses will not change. Just backup wallet.dat in case of a bug.
