So..uhh..whatcha guys mining now? I'm mining Groestl but that's at a loss.  Huh

I understand UTC might be a good profit until the reward drop at block 240000 (and possibly delaying your sells for after the reward drops).
Haven't done the math myself yet...

UTC might be good in the short if your just going to dump but i dont see that premine doing anything but dropping in the future

adding more types of alogo's dosent accomplish anything in the long run

well we also support single-algo coins using Blake, Keccak (cudaminer), and FugueCoin, GroestlCoin (ccminer).

A bit of diversification is certainly a good idea, however the flood of un-original clone coins ("crap coins") is real problem. It makes it much harder for truly original concepts to succeed.

ya i was just saying that in the long run more algo's dosent help for asic resistance

the ltc baffles me when they first made the coin they were the asic answer now they embrace because its too hard.. the man got to them Cheesy if they changed it they would loose faith because of the people that already had asics or have ordered them the price would drop.. if they didnt the price may stay the same or increase short term..

a coin like vtc developers wont be scared to hard fork or whatever is needed to resist them and thats all thats really

really? ltc developers deemed it too risky to attempt (and they didn't see enough of a justification). A failed hardfork can completely ruin a coin.

yep thats the way they decided.. thats why i dont like ltc anymore no balls .. its a bitcoin clone not a alternative

Hey Christian,

Are there any other improvements that could be made for scrypt mining with the GTX 750 Ti's with the Maxwell chips?  It seems like there is unlocked potential with these cards.

I couldn't find such potential yet. Wink And face it: scrypt GPU mining will most likely be unprofitable in 3 months, even for the power-efficient 750 Ti's... we're looking to get alternatives working in time (Quark, X11, Heavycoin, possibly Riecoin too)

standard scrypt will be done but there will always be something to mine that will be profitable too many people that are mining looking for something.. just need to think outside the box .. something with a changing alogorithm not multiple will probably prevail as asics cant be made they will just change the algo..

a coin like vtc developers wont be scared to hard fork or whatever is needed to resist them and thats all thats really needed

adding more types of alogo's dosent accomplish anything in the long run

Any/Everyone, what is wrong with my logic? What am I overlooking?  What really is unique about HVC that has a future? What do I have wrong in my logic?

Carlo

the fact is an asic can be made for any coin and any alogo it doesent matter.. the only ones that stand a chance is the ones that change algo's not the ones that have multiple in ones so yes i have less faith in this than other options... every premine ends up dead

for that reason the x11 would be another band-aid

if your worried about asics consider this http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/1zr9hy/faq_vertcoin_asicresistance_all_the_answers_you/

the main point is no one would attempt a asic if the developers of the coin would be willing to do anything to stop it including changing code.. ltc would thrive if they took a stance against it but devolopers have said they will embrace asic.. that being said this coin seems to be willing to do that however there are other coins more reputable with no premine that already have a market value that would do the same

Does anyone remember the IPO price of HVC (1 HVC = how many BTC)?

I believe it was 0.00005.

thank you  Cool

173 btc over 5 milion hvc: 0.00003460

Oh. Thank you for the exact price!

If you want the really exact price it's 0.00003477 (= 5,000,000 / 173.84775614) Wink

and its selling for ~0.00003104 i wouldnt say its undervalued at this point

vote 1024 more coins woot

In the mint phase the coin limit is 45 million coins. A vote of 1024 just gets us to the limit phase faster. The votes in the next 2 phases are what will determine the total supply.

i know get em before the asics do.. everyone knows bigger is better !

thanks all troll now i have more cheap coin]

I guess stating facts about a coin is trolling now.. or maybe the price dropped from a understanding of a coins value ?

If argument of power consumption, heat and a not caring if its a premine that draws you to HVC.. wouldnt blackcoin or some fully premined coin be an obvious choice over HVC? Where you woulndt have to use power at all..

1. You may be right, but this coin is bright example how premine should be handled and what its good for. And even if it was spended only by devs, they deserve it for what they did. Take it or leave it.
2. Its nice attitude, until there is costly machine behind Your back begging for attention. Furthermore it is like saying "You can trade ForEx instead".

1. right my point was most will leave it..for a non premine
2. I agree there will always be something to mine.

I was just trying to figure out why people think this specific coin is greater than the others that are currently available..Im just looking at say 2-3 years from now people would say this was the best idea and its why it succeeded over all the others..
