Ah, thanks, Lauda. On my mobile screen (using firefox) the page is shifted to the left because of the media player. That crops the left part of the countdown.

On the front page of nvo.io there is a countdown timer of 15 hour (at the moment of writing). What's this for? The crowdsale doesn't end until at least 26 days.

FYI, newcomers!
Did you know you can mine NXT (and buy Ardor with it on the Nxt Asset Exchange!) in the Lucky node project?
Computational and bandwidth requirements are very low - some users run it on a Raspberry Pi.
Run the node 24/7 or as often as you can while you work or play.
Join in with the over 100 nodes that are already in the project.

I still have some ARDR tokens in my NXT wallet. By Ardor did you mean those? or is there another asset/currency specifically for trading in the Nxt Asset Exchange?

They are targeting a big amount and yet they are not doing any marketing for this project, and the ico is started very fast without a week notice, I will have to see how this projects go by without marketing something is wrong there's absence of effort in the part of this team
This!

a strange project here - early adopter use their own affiliate link  Shocked
this make me have so much doubt with this project

maybe you should explain about that ?  Huh
This. It's foul play, if you ask me. And it's been promoted multiple times. Even though it is probably the doing of (one of) their devs. And probably without the consent of whatever team there is.

But more importantly, the overblown potential marketcap of 300 Million USD!!
It is a really interesting project that has got me sitting on the edge of my seat reading everything about it. And it has huge potential for making a difference. But, I think I'm going to have to sit on this one.

Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs

The purpose of linking a private blockchain (Mijin) to a public blockchain (NEM) is for immutability. A private blockchain has a central authority which can alter that blockchain at their discretion. Linking it to a public chain which is immutable due to it's decentralized nature solves that problem and you get best of both worlds.
Thanks for the explanation. If I understand correctly, it is still up to the company running the private blockchain to decide whether or not they want to leverage the public blockchain by linking the two. Immutability in this case could still be achieved by running the private blockchain on multitude of nodes effectively making them decentralized—although it would not be as reliable as linking to a public blockchain.

Can somebody explain if private NEM blockchain affects the public one we use.
Are they on a completely separate network and don't share transaction fees with all the public harvesters?
When Hitachi starts using NEM, will it be a private or public blockchain they use?

Private chains do not share transactions/blocks/fees with our public network.
And Hitachi sure is using a private chain, at least for testing.
So how will that help with growing this blockchain?
Everyone is saying "Hitachi new 150 mil users, to the moon etc." but it doesn't even matter in the end. Because all the serious tech companies are going to use the private version which doesn't do anything to increase the value of XEM and share bigger rewards for nodes.

Yes please explain how this will benefit us.

My understanding is that all private blockchain networks will eventually need cross communication publicly and this is where NEM can be employed to facilitate cross private [Suspicious link removed]munication
Yeah maybe. I would still appreciate if someone from staff or development team could clarify this.
I would also appreciate a verification from a dev or any staff member of NEM

.........
As far as I know, silver coins were planned for early adopters. It's ok buy why not giving the coins an additional marketing function and sell it outside the NEM-circle to achieve more publicity for NEM.
(my idea: 1ounce .999 silver, 24k goldplated, for stakeholders, limited and unplated silver version for public sales???)
other marketing silver coin ideas welcome
Perhaps make them redeemable to all the original stakeholders first, and once the deadline finishes, make the unclaimed ones available to others new to XEM?

Would need to give a decent redemption period to avoid controversy.

I agree with nzminer and howl53. A decent redemption process and period targeting a wider audience would seem to be a good way to go.
But that's my opinion. I don't really care that much about the original stakeholders being at the top of the priority list for the silver coins.

... I think it's a good idea to distribute the silver/gold funds to the original stake holders we've waited long enough for them ....

I really don't see why original stakeholders should be pandered to in any way whatsoever. They've either blown it or reaped the rewards already. It would make NEM look like a closed shop to benefit a small inner circle. ...

Because when everyone else was laughing at NEM, we stood by.

Everyone had a chance to become an original stake holder, some even got in for free.

Besides those funds were voted on by the community at the time and everyone agreed to hold on to them in a community fund. We all threw BTC at NEM with the intention of having the original funds shared amongst the original investors, this is not a charity.

Now what each individual original stake holder decides to do with their share, is completely up to them.

Also, just because they are not vocal in the closed community that is BTCtalk does not mean those original stakeholders do not exist. Many of them just left it as a forgotten investment and are waiting news from the members who acted as their representatives on NEM ICO.

Yep. Well said, LemonAndFriesOne. I am one of the original stakeholders and I am still here. Waiting patiently. Watching NEM grows and following the news regularly. Since day 1. Do you realize how long ago that was? I'm here for long-term investments. Please, do not disregard the stakeholders that truly believe in NEM and have supported all these years.

Holding NEM coins doesn't mean you are an investor? how can you actually invest in the project.

Buying XEM means you are investing in NEM. The belief is that as the larger NEM ecosystem grows, so too will the demand for xem. We are already much further along than Bitcoin was when it was 2 years old.
What's stopping these companies from rolling out their own private blockchains (say, their own copy of Mijin), and entirely exclude NEM, and then make them available for their target groups (read: not the NEM stakeholders)?
(Please don't tell me it's the relationship between these companies and the NEM devs and their good hearts.)

Guys, please help. I think there are more people having the same problem here.

After cleaning the database (nxt_db) for the third time (each time, the client shut down for no reason, nothing in the nxt log, and had to be boot up three times before finally reached and downloaded the last blocks), I still have encountered the same error/debug message:
Code:
[2014-02-18 16:37:50.365] DEBUG: Failed to accept block 12287095647751898123 at height 69655 received from panda.nxtbase.com, blacklisting
[2014-02-18 16:37:51.932] DEBUG: Failed to accept block 12287095647751898123 at height 69655 received from panda.nxtbase.com, blacklisting
[2014-02-18 16:37:53.667] DEBUG: Failed to accept block 12287095647751898123 at height 69655 received from panda.nxtbase.com, blacklisting

What's going on? does this mean that I am most likely to be on a fork? how to prevent this?
and what the heck is panda.nxtbase.com doing? have seen more people received 'faulty' blocks from this very node.
