I'd love to use my mined coins to directly fund my Farmville 2 account. The amount I can mine isn't significant enough to bother exchanging to fiat or spending on anything else, and Farmville 2 isn't significant enough to spend my fiat money on. Win-win.

I don't think that was the problem, since I didn't change the conf and it's working now. I think I just forgot to wait until it synced all the blocks.

The instructions I left will set the CPU to mine already. No external miner needed.

Also the OPs command doesn't use -server switch but maunderingcabal includes it. Is the -server switch required to mine with a conf file or can you mine with it this switch and with no conf file? I've been spending a lot of time fiddling with settings and no coin.

Not true, I don't have -server or a conf file and have mined 2 blocks in the last 4-5 hours.
That's weird. With just the -gen switch on Windows, I was getting 0 hashes per second, and the CPU usage was only ~6% (it wasn't even trying to mine).

This is why I personally prefer online wallets like blockchain.info. I know they have their disadvantages too, but I'd rather have my coins in an account than a file.
Having to make 5 filler posts first definitely puts a dumper on the initial impulse to contribute. Maybe that initial impulse will return once I'm approved. Will it still be 'initial impulse' then? Time will tell if there's even an impulse.
They don't have to be "filler" posts. There are some interesting discussions even in the Newbie forum that one can legitimately contribute to.
I would mine Litecoins, except that every miner out there was written with trojan code (not the malicious kind, just to connect to everyone apparently) and the only way to get past it is to uninstall my virus protection..
What antivirus are you using? Microsoft Security Essentials doesn't have any problem with LTC miners...
Ive stopped mining bitcoins, its either LTC or CHN/CNC now
