Mining difficulty at ATH
by
SheepRock
on 30/11/2020, 10:27:56 UTC
Bitcoin mining difficulty at ATH which confirms a healthy price increase along with dominance and increase in number of wallets and volume.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-mining-difficulty-approaches-ath-as-price-stabilizes-above-18k
Please correct me if I understand this wrong, when mining difficulty, hash rate increases that means more miners are interested in mining Bitcoin, increases competition.

Technically it's very possible to establish some platform or use a cruise ship either in the ocean or on some island but in reality no government or world authorities will ever let this happen. They want control and power over people's lives and soon as they see a threat to some state establishment they will do anything to ban it or destroy it, they don't want us to think that we may live without them, without corrupt systems and fiat money.

Agree, $3k is quite extreme price, $5-7-9 are more realistic, do you think you can trust this trading volume data? Percentage of bitcoin unmoved for over a year has reached ATH which is more reliable information cause it's on blockchain.

Ok, and what if the price goes to $3k again, will it still look like expected correction?
I don't think the price goes down to $3k again if we look from bitcoin price yearly lows. To be honest I'd say $5-$7 will be the lowest price in 2021 since we're in Bullish moment, also the volume trading is quite high in this month (around $40,000,000,000 USD) it mean there's many demand on it.

2010 – $0.01
2011 – $0.30
2012 – $4
2013 – $65
2014 – $260
2015 – $150
2016 – $350
2017 – $780
2018 – $3,122
2019 – $3,322
2020 – $3,850

Agree, there's been a lot of emotion on the market lately and some cool off needed but terms "overbought" or "oversold" are very subjective and may last for a long time.

Bitcoin whales number has hit ATH, price went up so fast to $19k and suddenly dropped by 16% today without any rational reason with huge liquidations happened on exchanges. Does anybody else see a conspirasy theory here or it's all pure coincidence?

I don't think there is a coincidence, the market is very on the overbought region for some time now, so all points to a solid bearish signal. And at $190k a pop, there is a lot of emotions in this zone, so obviously, a sell-off happen.

But it has slow down a bit for now, price is above $17k, and in 24 hours timeframe, it is now on the ~10% drop.

Yeah, this could be a reason too what you mentioned. Thanks for the welcome, it's been a long time. I wish I kept my btc from that time lol

At $19000, there are a lot of people who are in profit like 1.5x, 2x or even more considering they have purchased at the dip last year (or this year, cannot remember when it happened around $4000). So, I think most of them have liquidated their money as BTC was stable for a few days and they had speculated no ATH this time too. This is what I think.
Great to see a mate from 2011.

I asked a similar question before, what if the price doesn't reach or reached ATH and goes back to let's say to $3-4k many say now: no it's impossible. But if it does, then will you still think -it's just how the market works, supply and demand, just deeper correction ect.?

I do not often like to play conspiracy theorist when it comes to Crypto otherwise we are asking for problems with "insider trading".

Pure coincidence is what I believe to be the reason for the $19k and then sudden drop.  But in a few hours or maybe days we could re reach that point of almost breaking the all time high.

I don't see any conspiracy theory here. In fact I think that correction was expected and the only question is how long will it last and how deep it will go.
Also, I think that too much importance is given to whales and their influence on price but I guess that people like conspiracy theories and every explanation for price drop that isn't rational.

I agree that whales always want cheaper prices but what would be considered "normal" correction ? If price continues to go much lower I guess it's still ok for many whales cause they probably bought it long time ago but if many bought at $10k and above they must defend these levels.

The Bitcoin whales don't actually want a new ATH.They want to create panic selling,by selling a part of their coins, causing the prices to go down,so they could buy cheap Bitcoins in the future, while cashing in profits at the same time.
A stable upward price trend has to be supported by millions of newbies buying BTC.I don't see this happening,so it's normal for a price correction to occur, sooner or later.

Re: Can bitcoin make someone the richest in the world?
by

Well..the main idea of Satoshi Nakomoto was to cut off middlemen and make payments cheaper and faster, not as a wealth generator, people's greed is perverting this idea again which I can't blame either because we were brought up this way in this money system. If you gain profit from bitcoin holding or trading you can reinvest part of your profit in something else and if lucky get rich too. Bigger profit almost always means more risk.

Re: What is the biggest threat to Bitcoin?
by
SheepRock
on 25/11/2020, 10:52:38 UTC
Agree, the government is the biggest threat to bitcoin, the second threat is power shortage, nor electricity-no bitcoin  Wink

Why do people keep on thinking that the government can ban bitcoin? To ban bitcoin, they will have have to ban the central authority in their country. But bitcoin is decentralized and has no central authority. To ban bitcoin, the government will have to "ban everyone" that is helping the bitcoin network stay active which is impossible. If it was possible, wouldn't the government all around the world already put a ban on p2p torrenting? Secondly, the government can't suddenly tell its people to stop using bitcoin and abandon everything they have.
They can do it, if you are underestimating the capabilities of your cy then you are dead wrong, they have the ability to ban websites and services that are connected or even acquainted to bitcoin if they want. There might be some that will slip through the cracks but the witch hunt will be unforgiving if they want to and financial institutions will be in support of the government effort to eradicate traces of cryptocurrency because it is a threat to them ever since.

Why don't you think it's private and possibly government honeypot? Any information? I've read somewhere that Monero made by Chinise developers, but I don't have exact info on that.

Monero isn't private and is likely a government honeypot. I sold my XMR a long time ago for 0xMR.

Yes, the hoax virus comes from corrupt politicians and media, they don't listen to sane scientists and researchers, they have different agenda.

Befor you can make a vaccine the virus must exist. To this day SARS-CoV-19 has not been isolated, aka does not exist from scientific standpoint.
If you have scientific proof (not idiot box propaganda), be so kind and forward it.

Thank you for useful advice, agree that ETH 2.0 and some possible adjustments in DeFi will be a big thing soon.

The governments and states are stepping more on people's privacy and rights. Here is another example that CipherTrace in cooperation with US government files a patent to be able to trace Monero transactions: https://cointelegraph.com/news/privacy-coins-no-more-ciphertrace-files-patents-for-tracing-monero-transactions
I think altcoin projects who work on privacy protection and anonymity is a promising trend and will be one of the most very popular ones. What do you think?

You want a simple advice? Avoid privacy coin because of their reputation. Unlike bitcoin that's pseudonymous, transactions can be trace but monero isn't something that can be crack down. It has given regulations bodies tough time especially cases that involves investigations. The $600k Bounty is still on, you don't want to jeopardise your funds except you don't need it or perhaps free money to spare my friend  Kiss Kiss
There are other importants altcoins to dive in and make out same profits on this privacy coins. It will be better if you look into DeFi instead of privacy coins, Ethereum network I believe will skyrocket DeFi with updates this coming 2021.

Agree, I also think DEX have a good potential for growth, just need some time for better adoption

I think coin privacy coins does have the potential to make a trend in 2021, but remember I think more about DEX,
because Uniswap have a good start in 2020, privacy coins is more prone towards criminals,  so don't join fomo privacy coins.

In order to claim a vaccine is effective takes years of testing, in order to claim a vaccine is safe it takes tens of years. Sure the Big pharma never lie and they care so much about people's health and good.
