My biggest concern: Coin creation rate vs. Market Demand      example-Pennies/CENT

If it stakes too high or too often people are going to make regular profit takings and drive the value down in a tragic "CENT death-spiral."  Unfortunately once the average alt-holder makes ROI they won't care if the coin holds value, they'll just keep dumping.

To be fair, I did keep a few million CENT for the fond memories Smiley

Ok, ManicMeddler. You were the first one to give me a working trade code. I used it!

Don007, I needed the trade code, not the referral link, but thanks anyway! Maybe someone else will use your link to sign up.

I think the link is for brand new members.  I'm not too worried about the cryptsy points, just want to be sure new members can join in.  Thanks brother, it's the thought that counts.  To DGC *cheers*

New trading system at crypsty.  I think people need to be referred into the exchange.  Here is a referral code if it helps anyone out.

YOU might see your images, we see ads for lego deathstars...
...

Look closely at the prices of the lego deathstars, you will see USD, Bitcoin and the "brand under test"  Wink

I did choose purposely an unrelated toy. Just to get the feel for the brand as a general purpose currency.

Let me know how you feel about it. Thanks.

Could you do one: Red circle with  'CAP'  in white letters?    ex: (CAP)  (No selection here for white letters...)

eBit made a good point.  CAP is simple.  CAPcoin or CAPcurrency are the most marketable solutions.

We're not selling coffee...  I like the design and I see what you did there (good job) but it just doesn't relate to crypto.

Coin note: I like the way the diff adjusts.  I think its the best solution to combat profit hopping pools.

Anybody with writing skill to write at http://www.coindesk.com/ about DigitalCoin?

I've got a BA in journalism and communication.  What in particular were you thinking?

Difficulty adjustment is working well according to the graphs at miningpool.co.  The hash spikes have been successfully minimized.  The future of DGC is looking a whole lot brighter.

Here is a make or break proposal for CAPs:
Make the POS equivalent to at least 30% interest per year... for the next 10 years.
For holders it means a doubling of their position every 3 years.

I didn't agree with this idea at first because of what PoS stake interest did to CENT's price.  However i could agree with a  15-20% per year PoS generation If it required 1 year to mature.  Or possibly a graduated system where investors stake 10% the first year, 15% the next and so on.  We need to find a balance between generating long term bag holders and watering down the coin supply.  I think the annual PoS bonus may do this.

I love the name bottlecaps but I see it's up for debate due to its impression on 'traditional' investors (Disclosure: I loved the game fallout so I have a biased opinion). I think the CAP acronym is still valuable.  Just to throw out some ideas: CryptoCapitol, CryptoCAP, and CAPcurrency are some mainstream options.

A slight diff adjustment to a 5-10% higher diff per mh/s (would spoil my good mining) but also deter the autosellers.  This would prevent the current GDC situation: It is still profitable to mine and dump gdc into oblivion.

Getting CAP on another exchange or two would help attract some more needed attention too.  Of course trading options, uses and services are key.

Just my two cents...

Just to lend a hand and put a little water on the fire.  This is a convo I had with Baritus on cryptsy. The subject is a faster difficulty adjustment and why he decided that was a risky option.  He said the problem comes down to variability and he explains it like this:

baritus320: Variance is the potential random variability in the computing power of the network. In the extreme example of 1 block retarget variance: One guy gets lucky and mines the block in 1 second under 1 difficulty, the next guy also gets lucky but now the difficulty is 3, so it goes to 30. network = struck.  The more blocks, the less the chance of something like that happening due to variance.

Network hashrate: 316.84 MH/s
Current difficulty
4.5503
Next difficulty
1.8623
Is again some coin-switching pool jumping on dgc?

Again? It did not stopped

Multipool of course. They are also bringing a tone of orphans with them (lover coin difficulty with sudden flow of high hashrate miners "fighting" for a block). What is funny after that found is bashing on a coin and Developers Angry.

It has happened again.
Current Diff: 1.879
Global Hashrate: 1,213,870 KH/s
Next Diff:  5.1274

We should look for ways to build circuit breakers into DGC to prevent the swarm of locusts from pumping and dumping DGC like a cheap hooker.  Here is a few ideas I've seen thrown around: Rejecting blocks from a single source with more than %40 of the hashpower, To reject or que blocks that violate the minimum block time, or adjusting the difficulty at a faster rate.  CartmanSPC suggested "Develop the wallet/coin to throttle new blocks found based on an average of blocks found over the previous "x" period of time."

I know these solutions will produce orphans during spikes but I fear what will happen if we do nothing. In the short term its creating shortage of dgc and pushing the price up, which seems good in relation to the block reward dispute.  But in the long term it may drive off loyal miners making dgc vulnerable to attack between or during hashspikes (like what happened to FTC a few months ago).  If you look at the Multipool thread you will see the admin has a sadistic attitude towards most alt coins in general.  Something needs to be done before people loose confidence.

A good DGC pool
http://dgc.epools.org/

stratum+tcp://dgc.epools.org:3338

NO!!! NOT A GOOD POOL!!! It has over 50% of the network hashing power.  Its obvious neither you, nor the pool operator cares about the future of DGC.  I can't believe that site still takes registrations.  It's crossing the border between reckless and malevolent.

dgcepools stats currently according to its own page: Network hashrate: 1039.13 MH/s Pool hashrate: 583.94 MH/s

Zap! Works for me and I have a back up or two, 3, maybe four.

Didn't mean to be a dick! Just thought you said that to spite my work from the page before. My Apologies.

Due to DGC's increasing profile I'm back on my "Spread the Hash" soapbox.  Stop mining dgc.epools, It's network hash rate % is dangerously high.

DGC sponsored Alternatives to the two major pools:

Pushpool:
http://digitalcoinpool.com - ethought | 1% | getwork, stratum | PPLNS | Nuremberg, Germany (HETZNER) *Recommended
http://digitalcoin.scryptmining.com - nearmiss | 2% | stratum | PPS | New York, NY, United States (ServerStack)  *Recommended
http://dgc.cryptocoinmine.com - dreamwatcher | 1% | LP, stratum | PPLNS | Dallas, TX ,United States (SoftLayer)  (Closed do to lack of miners.)
https://dgc.d2.cc - d2.cc | 0% | LP, Stratum | PPLNS | Montreal, Canada (OVH)
http://digi.cryptcoins.net - MarKusRomanus | 0% | stratum | PPLNS | Quakertown, PA, United States (Verizon)
http://dgc.coinmine.pl - feeleep | 0% | stratum | PPLNS | Lodz, Poland (IWACOM)
http://digitalize.bounceme.net - akabane | 1% | stratum | PPS | Paris, France (OVH)
http://swmining.mine.nu/dgc/ - the1silverwolf | 1% | stratum | VARDIFF | DYNAMIC-PPLNS | TX FEES TO MINERS | Chicago, IL ,United States (Continuum Data Centers, LLC.)

Or use P2pools:
http://p2pool-dgc.com:9500 - fenican | 1% | Ashburn, VA, United States (Amazon)
http://pool.bounceme.net:24397 - akabane | 0% | Paris, France (OVH)
http://95.211.25.2:24397 - akabane | 0% | Amsterdam, Netherlands (LeaseWeb)
http://p2pool.dsync.net:21111 - x3maniac | 0% | Yaphank, NY, United States (Optimum)

http://dgc.xpool.net:8810 - CartmanSPC | 1% | Irvine, CA, United States (SAVVIS)
http://p2poolmining.org:8001- schnebi | 1% | Cologne, Germany (HostEurope)
http://gldmine.info:9788 - schlopper | 1% | Quebec, Montreal, Canada (Protected.CA)
http://s01.plurapool.com:24397 - plurapool | 1% | Atlanta, GA, United States (Namecheap)
http://next.afraid.org:8119 - faraway | 2% | Paris, France (Free)
http://pool.1nusa.org:8119 - faraway | 2% | Portland, OR, United States (Amazon)
http://208.117.43.200:5400 - Decagrog | 0.5% | Chicago, USA (Geekstorage)
http://mineallcoins.com:19327 - napoleon2121 | 1% | Paris, France (OVH)

Its becoming more important than ever.  DGC is gaining attention, we all know what that means.  Make our network more resistant to attacks! Spread the hashrate!

EDIT LIST: With the help of CartmanSPC

http://digitalcoin.scryptmining.com is a Scam. I just mined for 18 hrs and got half the coins I should have. Mining at 2150 KH/s -estimated 270 coins/day. I have 105 after 18 hrs.

How difficult is it to solomine on linux? or where can I find a pool that actually pays as it should?

Edit: Or maybe my low payout is a function of pool luck?

Anyone who joins a board and starts posting "SCAM" before they look into the details is a douche.  Help find the problem or ask around but we don't need people spreading FUD.  Please try to work with the pool operator before you go sullying people's good name.  Never begin a post with "This popular pool is a scam" despite the hundreds of others on the pool not having a problem.  Hell, PM me and ask me and I'll try my best to help.

P.S. Karsy, calling something a scam in the first sentence is not the way people should ask for help.  I think ending FUD is a good way to support crypto currency.  My etiquette may not be the best, but it is fully deserved.

For those who want to start a Vircurex account before they adopt DGC and need a referral code.

Code: 863-30964    or click https://vircurex.com/welcome/index?referral_id=863-30964 to take you to the registration page.

Thanks to all who join!

Thanks Techbytes and MashRinx!

----------------------------------------------------
P.S. http://dgc.cryptocoinmine.com/ could use some hashing love too.  Solid payouts for consistent miners. (It's not my pool, I just like to mine it.)

http://dgc.cryptocoinmine.com/ :7070stratum or 7339LP

dgc.xpool.net:8810

http://digitalcoinpool.com/

http://digi.cryptcoins.net/

These are all small pools and a great way to spread the hashrate around.  Great alternatives to the mega pools out there.  If they are smaller pools and use pplns it could take awhile to pay but be patient.

ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY MINING DigicoinPool.com.  That pool hash rate is getting is too high.  (No disrespect to Bigvern but attackers used his FTC pools popularity to 51attack feathercoin)

Help make Digicoin a more stable network, spread the hash!

+1 to http://dgc.cryptocoinmine.com/   Great pool. I love not being overshadowed by 30,000khs miners like in the other pools.  NOTE: PPLNS won't pay out until 5 or 6 blocks are found and confirmed on the pool itself.  It's a smaller pool so it might take a little while but there's a nice share-per-block average. Don't forget to "add your worker" on the webpage after starting an account or you will be unable to connect to LP or Stratum.

Admin also does a great job with any mining issues.

As for the wallet sync issue: I do what barritus recommended awhile back delete all wallet files but your config and your wallet .dat and restart.  It scared the crap out of me the first time I did it but it reconnected.  There are instructions on page 1 at the bottom of post 1.  Works ok for a week or so after that.

dgc.cryptocoinmine.com

Would start making much more coin for both the miners and CCE, if more people would throw some hash power at it.  Grin

It is at 0% fee (for now) and the bigger it gets, the more encouragement I have to get it switched over to PPS.

I have seen people ask about a PPS pool, but I need a large enough reserve of DGC to run that kind of  payment system.

FYI: I've been mining the pool for about 12 hours now (alot more in the past) and my dashboard and account don't show any recent credits. And the dash shows about 1/2 the shares compared to "pool top hasher" list which matches my CG miner report.  The pool has worked great in the past and the block luck fantastic but the dashboard and payout issue may scare away other miners.

The dashboard only shows the shares of the current round. I will get to work on displaying total unpaid shares now.

Payout issues? This is the first I have heard of it. Please tell me what issues you are having so I can fix it.

Dashboard makes alot more sense knowing its per round but I've been mining about 500khs for the past 6 or 7 blocks and don't see any payouts.  Is there a certain time of day the server pays out?  My miner name is the same as my screen name if you want to check.

EDIT UPDATE RESOLVED QUICKLY: Pay issue had only affected my account.  All other accounts were reviewed for the same issue. I had the pool's LongPoll url setup as the backup to the stratum link and the pool dropped me on a switchback. Admin kept me informed and resolved the issue that day.

P.S. The dashboard will only show the shares you put into each block and will reset when the block is complete. Its not an error, just different from most dashboards I've seen. Don't forget to "add your worker" after starting an account or you will be unable to connect. This should prevent you from doing crazy things like adding two links to the same pool in your config.

btw: http://dgc.cryptocoinmine.com has great share per block luck and I've never had a problem with payments in the past. I Definitely recommended this pool.
