IMO, they will just dump the coin if you give it to them. If they see any value in the PMC they can buy it.

I have to agree with this ....

Yep. All giveaways should be done with a proof of wallet pic required (to prevent direct deposit to an exchange). Someone mentioned a half now, half later strategy. I'd go for that too.

Also, a pool is really needed (P2P preferred). We should have a bounty for this, with regular payments for upkeep included (to prevent the pool operator running off with the funds, like one of the faucets).

Although I agree that it would stop dumping on the short term, it would stop them to dump everything one month later (or whenever we give away the second half).

Maybe we could give money to users that can proves that they had brought PMC. For example, send a screenshot showing that you have brought X PMC after the beginning of the giveaway and one month later, if you still have this amount in your wallet (or on the exchange) we give you X PMC. Of course we would need to cap the number of PMC.

I understand that people could still wait for the free PMC and dump everything but at least, it would make the market more active  Grin Grin

A generic symbol that contains all three N - E - M characters. Someone with artistic skills will need to work more on this.

Yes, this is one of the biggest problems. It disrupts the whole idea of equality, fairness and stuff Cheesy But it can be changed Smiley I don't know how at the moment.
Maybe the fee should be divided equally to everyone?
That would attract more users.

I agree, but the problem is that if I have a million NEM, I could open up 1,000,000 NEM wallet and put 1 NEM in each and receive 99,999,999 more share of the fee than everyone else. I don't see how we could get around that a side from rigid account control or minimum balance, but even then, people would find way around that.

I think the most frustrating part of NXT for small account was to see the next block could be forged in 325 days 12h 22min. I didn't look at the NXT code yet, so I don't know if this is possible, but if we could introduce fraction, we could pay divide the fee amongst all NEM user based on the ratio of money the have.

So, i we divide 1/4,000,000,000 we get 0.00000000025. This mean that for each NEM of fee, every user would receive 0.00000000025 NEM for each NEM they own. If we decide that the smallest unit is 0.00000001 NEM, we would then have to wait until 40 NEM in fee has been collected before distributing 0.00000001 NEM to everyone for every  NEM that they own.

Anyway, just an idea  Grin

Cheers

OMG your idea is even worse than mine  Cheesy
This way you don't even have to create 1 million wallets to get the coins:)
Cheers

That's kinda the point Grin It's actually the same think as the current distribution NXT distribution scheme, but instead of having 0.00000001 chance of forging 1 NEM, your receive 0.00000001 NEM. In the long run, it should end-up being the same.

I don't think my idea is practical anyway, so the point is moot  Wink

Anyway, I agree with you that distribution is a problem!

To everyone saying that 100 satoshis could easily happen or 150 satoshi isn't that hard to see for this coin:

I've been watching this for the entire time it's been out and people aren't willing to pay that much anymore. Most of us sold millions at 50 satoshi the second day of the coin and prices haven't even tried to go up.
There are simply to many people that just want to dump their 11 Million COYE they got in 1 hour mining at 2 satoshis and because of the volume it's high enough price. If people were working together and we all posted at 50 satoshis, buyers would have to buy at 50 or not at all. Ill post the million I've got left at 50 in solidarity but I never expect it to sell there unless others follow suit.

+1

As long as people will sell a 4 satoshis, this coin will never go up. I applause the tipper bot and all the other initiatives and I really hope that this coin will become something special, but if we stop selling low, we can't expect this coin to go anywhere.

A few NEM logo sketches, on behalf of my friend who does not have an account here.

I prefer the first logo on the left of the version 1. Actually, since we are aiming at being the silver NXT, I'm guessing that the siver one shoud be more appropriate, but I found the gold one to have more punch.

The two on left side of the version 8 are also very good.

Anyway congrats your friend, he did a very good job!

Guys/Gals,

You really need to secure your wallet. Having your wallet encrypted is not enough because a malware could wait for you to enter your passphrase and then empty your wallet.

You should have your wallet on a secondary PC (or VM) that you dont use to browse the internet.

The passphrase for your different wallet should be differents for each wallet.  Use a offline password safe program to keep track of your password. Personnaly I use password safe http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net/.

This is also true for your mining pool. Dont use the same password for all your pool. Also, in your profile setting, put your account in anonymous. This will prevent other user from knowing your username and try to bruteforce your password.

If you use password safe (or any other similar application) you can configure it to generate long and complex password. Since you dont have to remember them anymore, dont be scare to use very very long password.

Also, dont forget to backup your password safe database to another location in case that your PC crashes.

I managed to get a a wallet address yesterday before going to sleep but I decided to wait until this morning to do the deposit and then it was gone. I'm not complaining about this, I knew they only had a couple of active wallet address at the time, but I wanted to share this so you guys dont make the same mistake I did. If you can get a hold of a wallet address, use it  Grin

Also, to all the price seems to have stabilized at 9 satoshi (far from the 2 satoshi yesterday). When this exchange will go officially live and that other coin will be added, I can see this coins getting at the 50 satoshi everybody is talking about.
