Re: What's your guess on the price of bitcoin for Jan 2016 and July 2016?
by

on 29/09/2015, 09:31:45 UTC
The price of bitcoin probably wont have changed much by then unless we get some big news. The only thing that I can see pushing the price up is the block halving which is late July I believe but on the flipside if the price doesn't rise considerably it might not be profitable for miners.

Bitcoin has helped me but only a little in being to able to earn some extra money. However I plan to save my coins so hopefully they'll return dividends in the future but only time will tell on that.

Personally I think you should be able to use bitcoin to buy anything you want good or bad. It's up to the authorities to police illegal purchases. Organ selling is quite a big black market in some countries so I could see bitcoin being adopted by them but as for the ethical questions on whether it is right or wrong I'm on the fence personally.

I seriously dont like the BITCOIN XT approach, it will really divide bitcoin, and ruthless miners dont seem to care ,they just want to mine some easy coin.

We the savers who saved our money in bitcoin should be the one protesting against their imbecility, and the devs who push this XT crap.

Damnit why cant they just fking increase the protocol to 2 MB and leave these craps. Or use an offchain model like bitpay or whatever.

We do not know for certain that it will "really divide bitcoin", perhaps a huge majority will support the only remaining valid fork?

It has already divided many, but its clear the majority don't want it, but if that's the case then it will not succeed. The whole situation was handled very poorly.

The future, with all the smart homes, can be very interesting. You screw in a light bulb and it hacks your door lock.

I can't say I'm looking forward to a future where this is the norm. It's an Orwellian nightmare just waiting to happen. If it's connected to a computer or the internet it can be hacked. Most people will be oblivious to who and what is watching them through the webcams on their TV and microphones on their fridge etc.

Re: Bitcoin at $600 before December?

It's no way going to double by the end of the year. By the block halving (which is actually mid 2016) I think it will go up in value but no idea by how much. Maybe a hundred dollars or so. I expect a crash shortly after though as it will likely be caused just by people buying coins thinking the value is going to sky rocket.

I used to say not having bought more but bitcoins are not worth as much as they were so there wouldn't have been that much profit (though I believe in the long term there will be). I'd rather just earn them now instead of buying them with my own money though.

DO you think Greek crisis is good tourism? Will the Greek crisis make travel there cheaper ? Will the economic turmoil in Greece frighten or attract tourists?

People tend not to go to places once they're hot by these things so it's going to have a very bad impact on tourism. Many tourist resorts will likely shut as well. Maybe if they started accepting bitcoin though they'd get some bitcoin tourists  Cheesy.

Re: Bitcoin or gold?
by
Silly Money
on 15/07/2015, 14:22:03 UTC
Bitcoin is far superior in my opinion. Gold has it's real world uses don't get me wrong, but as an investment and currency bitcoin will likely dwarf it in the future. It's already much better as a currency, but I'm sure it will surpass it in investment value soon enough.

The Bitcoin supply is, in fact, limited and finite. It is set to reap immediate benefits going forward when it comes to supply and demand, the most basic sound money concept. No worries about mere fiat currency principles like inflation or deflation. You can chart the amount of digital currency in circulation at any time in the future.

There is a finite number of bitcoins but they are infinitely divisible so are they really rare?

infinitely divisible? when we are at 1 satoshi you're done, there no more dividend, and in fact this could be a problem if one satoshi in a distant future will be worth too much like 1 dollar or more

Quite easy to add a few more decimal places.

Exactly, and this is what would happen if it became a problem, but I think we're a long way off from that and we should be so lucky  Cheesy.

Re: should i move my ''saving'' to Bitcoin?
by
Silly Money
on 03/07/2015, 13:43:51 UTC
So you want one person making all the decisions for bitcoin and you want people diversifying and buying altcoins?  Might be the 2 worst ideas ever...

just the update alert, which is different from having consensus on a specific upgrade about bitcoin, still i'm a partially against the idea of diversificate your money in mnany altcoin, at best i could diversificate in one altcoin only additionally to bitcoin, and that's monero probably

Personally I wouldn't bother with alts. None of them show the promise that bitcoin does. As for putting savings into bitcoin I'd put an amount you can afford or more importantly are comfortable with. I think bitcoin will be a good investment longterm but its certainly not guranteed.

It will have a knock on effect and people will be interested in alternative ways to store their wealth. These sorts of crises in Greece etc wont be isolated events and more of them will happen over time. I think there'll be another  major worldwide crisis within the next ten years as well. Maybe bitcoin could take a foothold if that did happen.

Woodcollector is the most recent one and got a lot of hate for what he did, his idea was pretty unique too, he made cheap wood carvings and claimed they were hand calved so he could con people out of a lot of money for it.

He didn't scam that much but at least he actually sent the product, he just sold it as something it wasn't (though they still looked great regardless that he didn't actually hand carve them).

I saw that article earlier when googling for some info on Ross Ulbricht. The thing is, the vast majority of them will get away but the ones that are caught will send a message of fear across the deepweb but it's never going to stop them as there's people always willing to take risks. Prison or the death penalty doesn't stop bank robberies drug dealers murders or rapists and jail wont stop the tor markets. What it will do is force people to find new ways to stay safe and develop technology to evade capture. I look forward to one day when markets continue to run indefinitely without interference from the governments. Maybe eventually they will get the message and concede defeat.

Re: Who are THEY? Are they Muslim?
by
Silly Money
on 14/05/2015, 12:34:46 UTC
First let me tell here an Ayat from Quran:

If any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole humanity: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole humanity.

What in the actual fuck is the definition of 'spreading mischief'. People can interpret that in any way they wish. The attacks were Sunni against shia, right? Maybe the sunni's think that shia's are spreading mischief therefore they're fair game to be killed. I know not all muslims feel this way but killing members of your own religion only with slightly different views just shows you how ridiculous this is (though of course all religions are equally ridiculous any way).

Here, spreading mischief means making wars, killing people and spreading hatread and violence etc... It perfectly fits with what ISIS and similar groups are doing. I think they haven't see this! Roll Eyes

Where is here? Like 311 said that all depends on a persons interpretation and that's yours. Like most people who follow religion they interpret teachings or rules in their own way or even choose to blindly ignore other parts.

I dont know if they're muslims or not,
but one thing for sure, theyre humans,
and religion is not to be blame for it.

They ain't humans.

Of course they're humans. Backwards with perverted ideology maybe, but they're still humans.

Re: Does the Price of Bitcoin Matter?
by
Silly Money
on 14/05/2015, 12:19:23 UTC
The price or value of bitcoin is a double edged sword to me. The fluctuations make it poor as a spendable currency but those same fluctuations are attractive to speculators and it makes bitcoin a possible investment. The fluctuations also however stop merchants holding onto or dealing directly with their bitcoins so they choose a payment processor instead.

I admire your confidence and dedication to bitcoin but I wouldn't have the balls to go full bitcoin. I still like the comfort and security my bank accounts and cards bring but I am also a big fan of the financial freedom bitcoin brings but its not at the point where I could ditch fiat all together unfortunately.
