I used extruded aluminium rod (T-slot).

Its strong, sturdy and can be built with just an allan key. The slots allow easy fitting of attachments and joiners such as feet, handles, hinges, fans etc. Most suppliers will cut your order to size if you dont have an angle grinder. As no drilling or riveting is needed, you can take the rig apart to extend or modify very easily.

I have enjoyed this post, thank you OP. You should start your own coin; I cant wait to see your White Paper...

If I get rid of my girlfriend, join MENSA and shun society will my coins increase in value? If my coins go up, so will everyone else's so I would have rescued crypto and stabilised the market. I willing to give it a go. Who is with me?

Odd, usually when a product sells out Bitmain leave it up and just grey out the Add to Cart button. This time they have completely removed it. I wonder if the $12k price tag was a mistake and they have just realised it or if they are too embarrassed as the entire crypto community has called their bluff.

Lets wait and see...

Cant call it a scam. Dont get me wrong, there is no way in a million years I would buy one, and dont agree with Bitmain dumping used equipment but all the information is available.  Anybody looking to spend $12k should be bright enough to do some research. 10 seconds on google or on here and you have 1000 comments explaining why not to buy one (ROI, fork etc.).

As MindfulPar mentioned at the start of this thread, Bitmain even put on their site about the possible algorithm change. Anybody stupid enough to buy one after all the warning...its their own fault, not Bitmains! Bitmain are just greedy and dont care about the damage to crypto's.Teach them a lesson nobody buy one!
(Buy the way I bought a first batch A3...not regretting it but wouldnt mind Sia incresing in price a bit!)

Anyone that owns an A3 or other Sia miner needs the price of this coin to move. It’s barely above 1 cent at the moment. What are people’s predictions on this?

Re: Antminer A3 Electricity Setup Help?

In the UK house run 230v. the socket ring will start/end in the fuse box usually in a 32Amp breaker. (go check your fuse box; often the rings are labeled). So you can draw 32*230 = 7360W on the entire ring. The highest rated fuse you will find in an appliance plug (including your A3; and yes the Bitmain APW3++ is the easiest way to go). 13 *230 = 2990W, therefore the maximum total wattage you can have plugged into an individual socket is 2990W. I believe you need to not exceed 80% of maximum load (someone please correct if wrong) of this if you are running continuously (like a miner). 80% of 2990W is 2392W. So in theory each socket can draw a max of 2392W until you reach the total ring load of 5888 (80% of 7360W).

Typically a washer will be around 700W but may go higher for shorter periods of time. All appliances will have a sticker telling you the info.

The A3 is 1186W and a washer of 700W so these could both be on the same ring (probably best not to have them in the same socket), with quite a few other appliances.

Again, I am not an electrician so if anyone else here has and more informed information please chip in. If in doubt get it checked!!!! But one miner shouldn't cause you an issue. What country are you in?

Places to host? There are various companies in various countries, so check the forum. I have recently started hosting with KPM Hosting (kpmhosting.com) in Canada, they post on here so use the search function and stick KPM in it or email them from their website.

****The best advice I can give is to have an electrician or at least someone familiar with electrics to visit you.****

If you have any doubt about it at all you should spend the call out fee and get a professional advice. Mining isnt worth burning your house down. Its very difficult to give accurate advice in a thread without knowing the age or installation of your electrics.

That said, you probably shouldn't have any issue running one miner in your house. Most electrical appliances dont draw much but pay attention to things like Kettles, irons, washing machines, dryers, electric heater or air conditioning. Too many of these on the same ring at the same time could in theory overload you.

Cooling and noise are another matter. You are aware how noisy they are arnt you? For cooling you can get 6 inch flexible ducting and try and draw in air from a cool part of the house (air con?) and also more importantly use the ducting to expel the warm air through a vent.

Or, send your miner to be hosted somewhere and not be concerned about any of the above. Depending on the cost of electricity where you live, you may find that it works out cheaper to have your miner somewhere like Canada or Iceland.

Enjoy!

If the profitability went from $500 a day to $40/day shortly after the first batch got plugged in, surely once the second batch goes live its not a huge stretch to go from $40/day to $1/day. Don't think its worth it for batch 2, within a day of receiving it it will be worthless...and that without even mentioning Obelisk...

Hello,

Just wondering what everyone who got an Antminer A3 has been doing with the Siacoin that they are generating? People sitting on it? trading it?

Thanks for the reply Patatas.

They offered Credit card payment for fees which interested me due to the protection until we had build up a relationship. Once I got into conversation they said they would only accept wire transfer or crypto currency.

I decided to leave it. Not saying there is anything dodgy with them, but I didn't get the vibe I was after so I didn't pursue.

Thanks for the reply. Ok their website looks good and they are new but I cant find many people who know anything about them. They are one of the few colocation places I have found that have current free capacity...so why arnt people using them and talking about them? Their facebook and twitter pages dont have too many posts either.

Do we know who owns them or operates them? I am hoping they are legit but but just need a bit more confidence.

Hello, I am looking at hosting options and came across the coingeeks.io website. Looks like the have a good setup in Utah and also capacity. I couldn’t find too many comments online from people who have used them to host their miners.

Anyone here have any feedback?

Thanks
