The final match of the Major League Cricket 2025 is currently underway, with MI New York batting first against the Washington Freedom. I was initially surprised to see the participants, as I thought that San Francisco Unicorns and Texas Super Kings were much ahead of the rest during the first half of the group phase. Anyway, MINY has got off to a good start and they are 149/4 after 16.2 overs. A target in the vicinity of 180-200 looks possible at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

This match is really close. England did not score much in their second turn which gave India chance. But India also started badly losing four wickets quickly. Still with KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant now batting India could definitely win if one of them stays in and scores much of runs but England is bowling really well at this time so anything can happen tomorrow is result day so let's see who will win. Right now either team could take win making it very exciting game.

Even now, the probability is that India will win the match. They lost 4 wickets till now, but don't forget that one of those wickets belong to the night-watchman (Akash Deep). So in short, India has lost just 3 of their top and middle order batsmen till now. KL Rahul is still there, and so is Rishabh Pant. And it is a sub-200 target. India should win unless they do something extremely stupid. And this is going to be a real achievement for the new captain, Shubman Gill (although personally he just scored 22 runs from two innings).

Quadrangular Twenty20 Series (Malawi) competition is going quite smoothly and only two matches were interrupted due to rain. Tomorrow, 3rd playoff match and final match will be played. By defeating Germany squad in today's match Tanzania squad succeeded to reach final match which will play against Bahrain squad. In Germany squad against Tanzania squad, Germany squad displayed weak performance in both inning and 140 scores were not quite good scores off 20 overs and bowling side more bad compare to batting. Ajith Augastin played wonderful inning from Tanzania squad side and he managed to collect 56 scores off 40 deliveries. Tanzania emerged victorious after playing 17 overs almost and lost 5 wickets. What do you think about final match? Will Tanzania be able to deliver another outstanding performance in this match as well?

First it was Uganda, and now it is Tanzania. Africa continues to produce teams who can surprise the powerhouses of world cricket. Now defeating Bahrain is going to be an uphill task. Bahrain has a lot of former first class cricketers from India and Pakistan, which gives them the advantage. On the other hand, the vast majority of the Tanzanian players are natives, and they don't have any experience of playing against the sub-continent players. But I will be rooting for Tanzania for the final match.

I highly rate washi as batter but he's one of the braindead batter when he bats with the tail, virtually no game awareness, zero focus on doubles, he doesn't know how to farm strikes and always expose the tailenders.

Good thing for India is that for now there won't be any substantial damage and overall happy with the batting effort, anything from here is bonus.

Washington Sundar has the same weakness as Ravichandran Ashwin. He can't take wickets in SENA grounds. So when he is playing in SENA countries, he is more of a batting allrounder. Now the question is whether his place in the team is justified or not. India already has one spin-bowling allrounder who is much better than Washington (Ravindra Jadeja). And as such, they have to more pace-bowling allrounder options (Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shardul Thakur). I would suggest the selectors to include one extra batsmen in the place of Washington.

Italy lost this match by a big margin, In fact the Netherlands team won it by 9 wickets. But good luck for them that even after having a poor defeat, they qualified for the T20 World Cup that would be played next year in India. This is Italy first ever participation in any ICC tournament and man they are happy. Their captain Joe Burns told the media that they gonna win every match they play in the world cup. High ambitions from the captain and the team.

Anyways, I felt sad for the Scotland team. I really wished they would have Qualified with Netherlands, but that didn't happen. They play more better cricket than Italy but somehow can't make it.

Scotland is widely regarded as the strongest associate nation. But they have been unlucky at times. Remember the 2023 ODI World Cup?Scotland had defeated Ireland in the group phase and then they shocked everyone when they took down West Indies in the Super-6 phase. They also managed to defeat Zimbabwe, but that was more or less expected. But when it mattered the most, they narrowly lost to Netherlands, and it meant that Netherlands qualified for the 2023 World Cup instead of Scotland.

I have high hopes from Scotland but they have not lived up to it and their weakness was due to their match target and if I look at their perform it is very poor which is useless to expect anything from them. They should have defeated this match with a difficult target, they would have defeated it with a good effort but they are losing the match after giving an easy target. Although jersey it was difficult for them too and that is because they have scored 134 runs in the entire 20 overs and this may make Scotland's bowling tough but if they had tried to play better at the end, perhaps this victory could have been achieved. Scotland worst game was their batting because in this they scored only 133 runs while they should have played above 160. The highest run-scorer among the Scotland  batsmen is M. Cross who has scored 43 runs.

Before the tournament started, Scotland were the favorites to become the champions. In the end, they finished at the 4th place with just the small island nation of Guernsey behind them. Netherlands escaped the same fate, and they avoided defeats against the weaker teams (they lost one match, and that was against Scotland). But the big news from this tournament was the rise of Italy and Jersey. The presence of Joe Burns (former Australian international) and Emilio Gay (who has represented England A) definitely helped. But most of their players were natives, including the Manenti brothers, Mosca brothers and Marcus Campopiano.

✂✂✂✂
Originally the Asian countries aren't known for possessing some extra ordinary football talent enough to possessing brilliant football prowess but ever since they began to move to the European sides and have been playing on some other international arenas,  their performance has improved greatly and soon they will be making waves in football like their European counterparts.

LOL.. the fact that African and Asian teams are performing well nowadays has nothing to do with the participation of the players from this confederation in European leagues. It is purely demographics. Asia has the fastest growing economies in the world, and both Asia and Africa has a very young demographic structure (with the exception of East Asia). On the other hand, in Europe the population is rapidly ageing and most of the teams are dependent on immigrant players to fill the vacuum.

India felt some pressure in the beginning where Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed early but KL Rahul & K Nair helped India to reach 74 runs from that pressure but it was thought that Shubman Gill might give India something special in this match but Shubman Gill could not do well in this innings. However, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant are both trying to build a big partnership and if India can build a big partnership in this case, then it can be said that they will be able to give a run lead in the first innings. So far, India have lost three wickets but have scored 143 runs, while India are currently trailing by 242 runs.

India is still not out of the danger zone. When KL Rahul and Karun Nair built the second wicket partnership, I thought that they maybe able to get India to a secure position. But when it mattered the most, Nair got out and then within a short interval India again lost the wicket of Shubhman Gill. Now Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are there, trying to stabilize the Indian innings. As of now, India may not be too much worried. They do have depth down the order, with Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar yet to come.

Yes, FIFA hasn't done anything for the countries whose football is developing today. That's the result of clubs investing their resources in scouting or building academies, which are very helpful in developing talent. And then it's also the result of their governments constantly striving to improve the quality of their leagues and enable these players to compete better and develop their talents. As for FIFA, what they do is not much, especially since FIFA is the most bureaucratic, non-transparent, and overly political sports organization, so there's not much to expect from this organization.

No sporting body in the world right now is perfect. And I would say that FIFA is far better when compared to other sports organizations such as the ICC. In cricket, rather than trying to  expand the sport, the ICC is trying really hard to restrict the sport to the 12 "full members". 89% of the ICC revenue goes to just 12 full member nations (with 40% of all the revenues going to just one country), while the 96 remaining ICC members get just 11%. At least in FIFA, they have a very unbiased system to distribute the funds.

Nair hasn't really used his opportunities well so far, but Rahul is totally fine since he scored a century and half century separately. Their middle order is in sublime form while their tail is practically useless.

So far he got opportunities to bat in 5 innings, and made a total of 117 runs, with a top score of 40. Perhaps time has come to give opportunities to some of the other batsmen. Sai Sudarshan was given just one opportunity and after that he was dropped. Perhaps time has come to bring him back. Nair can focus on county cricket and Ranji Trophy for the remainder of his career, and he doesn't looks like a suitable fit for the national team. BTW, Abhimanyu Easwaran also need to be given at least one chance in this series.

Italy has made a sub-par total of 134/7 after 20 overs. In order to get a win, they had to get at least 160, but they fell short. Emilio Gay got out for a single digit score, and Joe Burns also got out cheaply although he got a good start. Roelof van der Merwe is 40-years old and he returned figures of 4-0-15-3 today. Italy never really got going, although Ben Manenti made 30. The Dutch are off to a very good start, and after 2.3 overs they are 19/0. Michael Levitt and Max ODowd are looking good out there.

They did wrapped up things quickly but considering the first hour of day, i feel they gave away 40-50 runs extra.

They should've bundled up poms on to around 320-ish and 350 at worst. Dropped catches did play its part. Sometimes it feels like Indian team lack killing instinct when they are on top. Yes, opposition is allowed to play well but fielding is one department which is totally in your control and they seems to be fumble a lot on crucial moment.

Edit

Lol no love between IPL teammates, poor Jaiswal.

I guess today's not Jaiswal's day. From what we have seen from the previous two matches, usually 2-3 Indian batsmen play well, while the others get out cheaply. KL Rahul is still there, and Shubman Gill is yet to come. So till now I don't have any concerns as such. BTW, Rishabh Pant is still able to bat I believe. If not, it will add a lot of pressure on the Indians. I am trying to watch two matches simultaneously in my laptop.  Grin This one is playing in JioHotstar, while the Italy vs Netherlands match is being streamed through Fancode.

Last match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Region Final is currently underway, with Italy batting first against the Netherlands. If Italy either wins this match, or lose it by a small margin then they qualify for the T20I World Cup of 2026. But ramifications of a win today is much more than that. Participation fee for the 2024 T20I World Cup was $225,000 and additionally, $31,154 per match was distributed among the winners of each match. And these amounts are much higher than the annual funding received by Italy from the ICC.

I think that if Nair finds form, India could make something out of it: Bumrah's comeback timing was great, and he should help knock off those that remain.

Well.. partnership is broken now. Jamie Smith has departed for 51, with Mohammed Siraj picking up his first wicket of the match. Now he has figures of 64/1. Looks like India will be able to wrap up the England innings at max 370-380. Brydon Carse is still there, but he has been joined by Jofra Archer at the other end. And they have Shoaib Bashir (who is neither good with bat or ball) to come next. With the wicket of Smith, England has lost the psychological advantage they enjoyed till now.

Good fight from the lower order, poms were in bit of worry because of Bumrah but after his spell, nothing went anything on India's way and once again tail wagged against them.

81 runs partnership for the 8th wicket and counting. England will be mighty please with this outcome.also, 100 overs are done, now extra miles will be on their tired legs.

If India can wrap up the England innings under 400, then they would have the upper hand. So far in this series, Indian top order batting has been of top quality. And this time the middle/lower order is also quite strong, due to the additions of Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy. My only concern is in having Karun Nair as no.3. He needs to perform in this match. Anyway, India needs to take 3 more wickets, and looks like Bumrah needs to come back in order to do that.

Jersey is now fumbling against Scotland. They need 20 runs from 18 balls now, with 4 wickets remaining. Most of their top and middle order batsmen are back in crease, as the Scottish spinners picked up some quick wickets. If Scotland loses this match, they are out of the T20 world cup. At one point, they were 81/1, and now they are 114/6. The required run rate has gone over 6 runs per over and they are down to the tailenders with Mark Watt and Michael Leask bowling from the other end.

The partnership between Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse is now worth 78 runs. And remember that this is the 8th wicket partnership. I am a bit confused here. When Bumrah is not there in the playing XI, other pacers such as Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj does well and pick up wickets. But when Bumrah is there in the XI, entire burden falls on his shoulder and the other bowlers doesn't pick wickets. Is there any reason for this? It should be the other way around, right?

There is even more drama from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Region Final. Now it looks like Jersey has a realistic chance of qualifying for the T20I World Cup of 2026. The small island nation with a population of just 100,000 need another 57 runs from 10 overs, with 9 wickets to spare. In the end, the competition to qualify will be between Netherlands, Italy and Jersey. In case Netherlands loses to Italy later today, then both Italy and Jersey will qualify. If not, Netherlands and one among Jersey and Italy will qualify (the one with better NRR).

This was completely unexpected for me because I only knew Italy as a strong football team and in this match I thought they would lose to Scotland in a zero competition, but the result was actually the opposite.

Anyway, Italy's next opponent is the Netherlands and I would put the Netherlands ahead in this case because the Netherlands team has been doing very well recently. And here too, if nothing unexpected happens, Italy won't be able to win.
And I can already see Scotland winning against Jersey.

No doubt that the results were unexpected. But we will get the confirmation only by tomorrow, when the final round of matches will be completed. Italy will be facing Netherlands, while Scotland will take on Jersey. Technically, all these teams can qualify given the results go in their favor. Talking about Italy, I am quite impressed with them because most of their players are Italian citizens. This is unlike some of the other European teams such as Norway and Austria, who have teams comprised 100% of foreign citizens. Yesterday, it was Harry Manenti who gifted Italy with the win, as he picked up 5 wickets. His brother Ben also did well with the ball. Grant Stewart and Thomas Draca were economical in the first powerplay. While batting, Emilio Gay scored 50 from just 21 balls. He didn't got much support from others, as Marcus Campopiano, Joe Burns and Justin Mosca got out for single digit scores.

Surprised with the inclusion of Karun Nair. After scoring just 77 runs from 4 innings at an average of 19.25, I didn't expected him to be included in the squad this time. But I guess he got lucky. He will bat at no.3, which was given to Sai Sudarshan in the first test. BTW, Nitish Kumar Reddy picked up the important wickets of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett in the first session. And this probably gives him the edge over Shardul Thakur when it comes to the role of pace-bowling allrounder.
