Re: Ethereum price dump

The etherium falls because the buyer does not appear on the market ready to buy it at the current price. This is due to the general mood in the market, which means the market is expected to be even lower.

I think the market will be around the current price for the next few months. Then it will go up.

from my personal experience I will say that this is still the best way to survive the crisis. In my country where the average salary is $ 200 per month, it is not possible for yourself to postpone something for the future.

I save about 5% of salary into bitcoin every month for the future.

Ethereum is a first choice in altcoins after BTC in crypto market and it is growing slowly and first choice for ICO as maximum new ICO issuing ERC20 tokens which require ETH wallet. They have a strong developers team behind them.ETH is the highest gainer for the year 2017.

I agree with that. It also is developed actively. There will be a update in a few days.

If the witness is attacked by DDOS, and the 12 witnesses are attacked and unable to issue witness blocks, what shall we do? Does byteball's network stop? Will it be as unsafe as DPOS?

Witnesses are likely hidden with TOR so you won't be able to find them even with the complicity of the hub they are connected to. In the case you still managed to find their IP, you would need a huge DDOS power to take all them down since they are hosted all around the world on several networks all having their own DDOS protections.

Is it safer to have 100 witness than just 12? Would more resources (block size) be required if there is more witness?

Stay away: because its a premined, centralised fuel, it not not even a coin so you cant compare it with good crypto like bitcoin. It is not owned by the people like bitcoin, but by bankers, and big company's they use the technoloy of it and they can set the price on what they want. Dont get trapped in this scam. Stay in bitcoin or only use it for short term pumps

Never mind, but with all its features, updates and hype, it seems like it is going to go more up.

It has very strong support, perhaps whales behind.
Yes for the coming weeks ethereum will continue to grow, and bitcoin will go down it seems. Whats wrong with bitcoin? Bearish times incoming.

After the bitcoin block size is increased, the price will go up again.

Ethereum has been a good coin for these past few years. Its been prove that this coins can be the best in cryptomarket. When you invest, invest on what you can afford to lose this is what we called dont invest in one basket. So, ethereum is one of the best altcoin for me...

I have some confidence in Ethereum as it has good development.

Etherium is still good for investment as its price is on the uptrend again. Some predicts that this trend would continue next year.
A lot of gud exciting things coming to ETH next year, not least Metropolis, POS, sharding, etc.
Most of the opinions I see regarding switching to POS algorithm are negative comments. Will not this bring elements of centralization to the system? Why would this be good news?
You're seeing it as not gud news because you are holding nothing of note. Negativity begets negativity.

PoS is not good.

I traded Etherum for a few months a while back and i made a good small amount of BTC out of it, it was very predictable and its highs and lows were the same every week for a while. but now i have no idea, i haven't followed it for some time now.

If you have lots of bitcoin, it is good time to buy some Ethereum now. The price of the ETH is quite low now.

no doutbt that Ethereum is a good alt, you should invest here and it will really give you good profit, although its price is stable for last few days and i think that the reason is that people are holding bitcoin and not going to invest it any where as they are expecting that the price of bitcoin is going to increase in next few months.
Yeah ether still good to choose altcoin since its a 2nd from the top cryptocurrency from coinmarketcap
But it is not good to buy right now because the price of ether right now is high .. and i think it is better to wait more days or weeks if the price will goes down..

For the time being, the Ethereum is the second largest coin. But if it is not developed properly, it might be replaced.

In fact it's not: it's about trading. You could well buy those coins instead of mining.
Mining is about fun and efficiency.
Yeah! Mining is to mine most profitable for today!
All other is trading/investment

What is the most profitable coin to mine?

Is that still the Etheruem based coin? I have mined it for long time.

Thats totally depends on your own view on ETH. You can try investing some btc to convert to etc and then hold it long enough to reap profit and then sell it. However the current altcoin market is not going well and it is suggested to stay away from it. Hence it is totally upto you to decide whether etc is a good alt or bad  Grin

The ETH is supported by several big business. For example, the bank Santeander will issue cash on the main chain.

Spanish banking giant Santander is making a bold move in the direction of Ethereum by creating a way to tie bank accounts and fiat currency to tokens on the Turing complete blockchain system.

Demonstrating this innovation was the bank's partner within the Ethereum community, EtherCamp, which has been building out the Ethereum Javascript environment for past couple of years, among other things.

The first use case of the Santander/EtherCamp CashEth project is micropayments, so leveraging the agility of the Ethereum blockchain to pay tiny amounts to read newspaper articles with zero fees, recorded on the blockchain.

Roman Mandeleil lead developer of EtherCamp told IBTimes UK: "It's a way of using a Santander bank account to convert fiat currency into tokens to be used on Ethereum."

That is good news. So it will make a big usage of the Etheruem block chain. It will be a good start for the more application.

but where would be the bottom ? difficult to tell. Maybe its already in, maybe not...

This is the question every investor is making now. We may be in front of the next big opportunity to make some great gains, but we can't know where the bottom is.

About the hacker, like I said before, I think we will not see the hacker dumping, he is not stupid.

You could be right. The ETC price is quite stable at the moment. It seems there is no sign that the hacker is dumping.

I'm bullish on ETC, but its gonna take a fight.
the ETC from the DAO will be released + the hacker's ETC is available + some new exchanges are allowing for ETC distribution.

I think its largely in the price, but we could see some volatility in the next few weeks before the market can rally hard.

After all, on Day 1, almost all the ETH longs (i.e. everyone except for the guys in the situations above) could sell their ETC. Still ETC rallied hard. So with much less supply than on Day 1, I feel it can be absorbed as well. but where would be the bottom ? difficult to tell. Maybe its already in, maybe not...

TLDR: I think 5 weeks from here we will be significantly higher than now and rally mode, because the supply shock will be behind us, but in between it could be quite some scare.

I agree with first part of the commments. But I think the fate of the ETC is controlled by the hackers and ETC DAO holders.

For now its risky to invest  your bitcoin in ethereum because i think hackers are still holding their ethereum they are waiting  for the price increase so if you fall about this again.. you will lose..

That is right. It depends on the fact that if the hacker is part of the ETC team. It is possible that they are related.

Will we find out that in a few weeks? I heard there will be a law suit on the Ethereum Foundation, he might be exposed.

The price of bitcoin is now stable and I think we have to love its stability as with that more people will invest their money in it and no one will fear for the volatility of its value.
i really like the stable prices, for me personally it is even better than all those fluctuations as i lose bunch of money during them and i just like to get bitcoins and hold

the recent price drop is good for the long term price performance. It will absorb some big profit taking.

Re: BTC to 5000$ soon
by
Sitkack
on 30/06/2016, 10:11:28 UTC
We have seen the surge in the gold's market cap lately. This is just the beginning, the first cracks in the current financial paradigm. The problem with gold is that it is physical and thus poses a psychological problem to mainstream investors when it becomes scarce due to extreme demand. The investors will see that they could physically only acquire a miserable and pathetic looking amount of gold (as it has become "too expensive") so they will run into silver. But silver too, has the same intrinsic problem.

So far, bitcoin's deception has lied in the fact that we are presented the idea that one bitcoin is divisible up to 8 decimal places which gives the false image of a bitcoin being a floating point number. In reality block rewards are represented by unsigned integers. Thus instead of 1 bitcoin one has 100 000 000 satoshis. To break the psychological barrier of 1 bitcoin costing too much we should just switch to satoshis. The latter will be plausible when BTC rises in value.

The market cap of gold is $7,252,708,420,909.
The market cap of bitcoin is $ 6,549,170,380 (0.082% of gold's).

I can say that gold is already psychologically too expensive for an average Joe on the street. Imagine when it grows 5x as it has done previously during financial collapses. Owning a gram of gold doesn't make you feel good about it, it feels sad as it is just a tiny speck. So, naturally, other stores of value will gain popularity. If bitcoin was only 1% of gold's market cap, it would already cost more than 5000$ per BTC. If 1 bitcoin costed 5k, then 1 satoshi would be 0.00005$. The world's least valuable currency Iranian Rial trades at 0.00004$ . So after 5k $ bitcoins it would be nothing new to this world to have satoshis for the main units to represent the value of your bitcoins. The world has already seen such a situation in Iran.

Daily recommended minimum amount of money for food per person is 10.72 $. With 5000$ BTC, a daily meal would then cost 214400 satoshis. Let's be honest, 200 000 is not that big of a number any more to be uncomfortable to use in daily basis. This is also the reason why poor countries could adopt bitcoin more easily. They are already used to making transactions of such order of magnitude in their currency units.

I am sure that price will rise to 5000$ just i am not sure when, but probably not soon as price will have to rise 6 or maybe even 7 times

Closest date i can think is 2020 after halving, then price could rise to 3000$, or if we will be lucky even to 5000$, but only then

I agree with that. It might take 5 to 10 years for the price to go to $10,000 or more. It needs many users.

The users numbers of bitcoin is increasing. The paypal has teamed up with coinbase to provide a service to users.

Bitcoin was indeed stable and that is bad for the most people with already Bitcoin because they want to earn some profit with Bitcoin and that was not possible so they have to wait now a longer time until the can make profit.
But of course it is hard to know when you can sell it but you also can see now that the value of the Bitcoin is rising slowly so that is really nice for the people with already Bitcoin.

The problem is now the price is rising too fast. It would be better if the price consolidate here for a few months.

To some extent, I like the Etheruem price to drop further, so that people will not add mining rigs, I can mine more.

The Ethereum mining difficulty is rising so fast at the moment. At his rate, most home miners will make a lot in 6 months.
