This post for beginners in blockchain, cryptocurrency, mining.

At first you need to read these books:
1)Nathaniel Popper - "Digital Gold" (the history of bitcoin)
2)Don Tapscott - "Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Behind Bitcoin Is Changing Money, Business, and the World"
3)Andreas M. Antonopoulos - "Mastering Bitcoin: Unlocking Digital Cryptocurrencies"
4)Abraham K White - "Cryptocurrency: Mining, Investing and Trading in Blockchain, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Ripple, Dash, Dogecoin, Emercoin, Putincoin, Auroracoin and others (Fintech)"
5)Christian Newman - "Bitcoin From Beginner To Expert: The Ultimate Guide To Cryptocurrency And Blockchain Technology"

Watch these videos (all are free in Youtube):
1)How Bitcoin Works Under the Hood
2)How the blockchain is changing money and business | Don Tapscott
3)How the blockchain will radically transform the economy | Bettina Warburg

Go to the conference, find friends who interested in this theme as you!

Read more in this forum and ask if you dont understand something !!!

If I give you my email address, will you share the PDF versions of those books (the ones you have)? I will be very grateful for that!  Smiley

I would also add the YouTube channel of Ivan on Tech, he is good in explaining certain ongoing market developments and helping those who are interested in the blockchain development staff.  Smiley

Enjoy!

Is it possible to become a specialist studying by yourself?

Yes, very possible (even more effective than colleges these days)! Why? Because you learn the skills you will need at your workplace, nothing extra! You also save time and money! Thus, I do vote for self-education (in any field)!  Wink

Re: Social Networks

What are some things you'd like to see in a social network that would make your experience even better?

example ... No ads / No "feed" / better messaging system using better encryption

No marketing and commercial. It seems people use social networks nowadays mainly for marketing and businesses purposes to promote their products/services and gain more customers. That's the main driving force of those networks today, which sometimes makes our efforts harder in terms of finding valuable and useful information there!   Undecided

Re: Bitcoin As a subject in school
by

How about if there's a subject added in school
For crypto trading?

I don't think schools will allow it in that way (trading) because that will be considered as teaching kids some gambling. I don't think schools will dedicate a special subject to bitcoin because they are also a part of this central governmental authority (that does not simply like the idea of cryptocurrencies). However, in 2015 I was a taking International Financial Markets course and there was a special subject in the syllabus related with bitcoin. I believe that has already gone deeper.

On the other hand, I cryptography is an official subject in many tech schools (related to information technologies), and I believe topics on bitcoin will play a key role in those subjects in the future!

Re: Long distance relationship

How can long distance relationship work or let me rephrase how can one go about long distance relationship

I have done that for 6-7 months and it worked. Of course, we met during that time 4 times (for 4-5 days), but most of the time we were in different countries and Skype and Viber were the only ways of our communications.  Smiley

Now, we are together (both of us did everything for that), however, those 7 months were really hard, and if it went longer, I don't know what would have happened, because I just could not tolerate that situation!

Good luck!  Wink

Re: Should I donate to charity?
by
Skellen_Nilf_gaard
on 06/02/2018, 13:45:23 UTC
Of course, not because it's great and makes you a better person, but mainly because it makes other people feel good. Imagine a situation when you needed something but you did not have. Something that played an essential part in your life. I know many people did not have a chance to go to a better school because they did not have money for that. So why not giving them a hand and help realizing their dreams? Another example, when someone needs money to finance his/her kid's healthcare. Even $10 or $15 can be a big assistance for them. So why not to do that when we have the means?

I remember my friend's sister had cancer few years ago, so all of us dedicated some time out of studies to go to the streets and ask for sponsorship from random organizations and companies. We managed to collect all the money and financed the surgery and medication for her. If we were to act alone, it would not work, but all of the small efforts combined made a difference. The same with charity, you can donate even $1 (very small amount of money), but it will make a big difference!

So I will use this space and encourage people to do that, because it pays back quite often!  Smiley

Re: is this the end of crypto?
by
Skellen_Nilf_gaard
on 06/02/2018, 13:18:50 UTC
Some people really think it is, that's why they panic, sell their coins and leave. However, I believe that this is just the beginning and it actually is, because altcoins are just getting popular these days. Do you know how many people use cryptos all over the world? Only 2% of world's population.  Shocked There was a time when the internet was there, and now it has exceeded 50% but was a big revolution back then. Internet also had the same problem as cryptocurrencies have now: trust.

So it will take some time until people realize what they are, how they work and why they are so beneficial. Internet went through the same process. I remember my father was doubting whether to buy internet services or not, because it was not a necessity for us ten years ago, but now people can't live without that. The same will happen to the cryptocurrencies in the future. People will not be able to avoid using them in their daily activities.

Thus, thinking that this is the end of cryptocurrencies will be a major mistake, because I believe there is no end to this market. It will just grow more and more and more.  Wink

Re: Suggest me a movie
by
Skellen_Nilf_gaard
on 06/02/2018, 12:51:54 UTC
This is a great thread, and I can share my recent feelings about the movies that I like watching over and over again. However, recently I discovered that at this age (17) I want stories that go on and on and do not end within 2 or 3 hours. Thus, I started watching TV series and now most of my movie time goes there. But first, let me enlist my top five movies that I'd watch over and over again.

1. Godfather.
2. Scent of woman.
3. Harry Potter.
4. Moonlight.
5. Life is beautiful.

Now the TV series. I watch lots of them and I do love the recent ones by Netflix. So, my top TV series would go like this:

1. Game of Thrones (not Netflix but HBO).  Cool
2. Sherlock Holmes (BBC if I am not mistaken).  Shocked
3. Riverdale (Netflix).    Cheesy
4. Stranger Things (Netflix).  Shocked
5. Dynasty (Netflix).   Grin

I do hope you enjoy watching movies and TV series and I hope you will have a chance (or maybe already had) to watch at least one of the films I listed above.  Wink

Re: When life gives you second chance..
by
Skellen_Nilf_gaard

I totally agree with that approach, because now what most people do is just to get scared, panic and sell coins and leave the business. However, bitcoin will always go up and down until the market gets stabilized, and we don't know when exactly that happens, because that depends on many factors that none of us control.

But one thing I am sure about (and is written in all of the white papers) is that bitcoins are available in a limited amount, there are only 21 million bitcoins available, and people keep mining, meaning that at some point all of the bitcoins will have their owners.

Since the demand is increasing, the price will start growing up, so why not just buy and hold until that time comes? That time will come for sure, and no one will care what the price was before. Everyone will care how bitcoin is important and valuable and how they can get some. But remember, as I said, bitcoins will have their owners at that point and they can dictate the price at that time. So why not to become one of them, especially when we have such a chance in our hands now?  Shocked

Re: what's the best altcoin
by
Skellen_Nilf_gaard
on 06/02/2018, 12:16:07 UTC
I don't think that there is a 100% accurate answer or definition for the best altcoin or cryptocurrency in general. It depends on the needs of the user, the budget, the preferences and, of course, the potential that the cryptocurrency has for further growth.  Wink

For example, some users like ETH, because it has the smart contracts, which give the software developers the ability to design algorithms that may serve their needs the way they agree upon.

Some users like LTC and think it's the best, because it's pretty much like BTC, but is much more cheaper and easier to acquire and store (and transfer).

Some users like XMR, because they want their online activities to be tracked at all, and XMR has the full potential for that!

Some other users may prefer XRP, considering its potential of making global transactions much more faster and cheaper.

To me, for example, all of the features mentioned above are very important, so I like all of the those coins because of their different abilities and characteristics. So it would be hard for me stay which of them is the best, because they are all equally great in their respective fields!  Smiley

Re: FOREIGN LANGUAGE

English is not my mother tongue. I also speak German and Polish, but am interested in learning some Spanish (because that's a sexy language and I love that country), Italian (because that seems to fun and I like Italy also), and French (because that's a beautiful and romantic language).

Oh yes, I would also like to learn some oriental language, maybe Arabic, that's gonna hard, but I like how that language sounds and I like the shrift they use. That's it I believe.  Cool

Enjoy learning new languages, that's interesting and fun!  Wink

Welcome! Remember, that making money with bitcoin is not too easy these days, and it also depends on how you want to make money with it (mining, trading, investing in ICOs, etc).

You can get scammed if you don't choose a legit exchange to sell or buy bitcoins from, invest in fake ICOs or trade with people having scammed private keys, or your digital wallet is scam and always takes your funds away. To avoid that, please do your own due diligence research on the exchanges, ICOs and digital wallets you are dealing with, read a lot about them in this and other forums, and watch some videos on YouTube! Remember, RESEARCH is your most important weapon in this business.

Additionally, pay attention to the step-by-step guides for bitcoin trading, there are many good options in this forum, just search them and you will find. Also, search for the relevant topics, like digital wallets, safe exchanges, private and public keys, etc., you will get tons of useful information. Good luck, and never give up researching!  Cool

Re: What do you want to do??

As far as I know countries do ban bitcoins as it sounds, they just ban trading bitcoin anonymously. It means, that you just have to identify yourself to make transactions. This is being done to make sure people don't use bitcoin payments for illegal purposes, like paying for drugs, weapon or prostitution.

However, if a government bans bitcoin, imagine considering the following:

just change the VPN and proxies you are using for browsing the web and it will make hard for the central authorities to track your online records. I am not promoting something illegal here, I am just proposing a practice that is being widely used these days. Otherwise, I don't think that banning bitcoins is a major issue nowadays. As I said, the governments are just trying to keep the track of the online payments, because in some cases a big is in circulation and the South Korean government identified that were millions of cryptocurrencies circulated for illegal purposes.  Undecided

Re: Bitcoins Sister
by

on 06/02/2018, 10:32:07 UTC
Not a bad marketing idea, but I think they are becoming a bit mainstream. There is Ethereum that is already considered the silver version of cryptocurrencies (in case we consider bitcoin as the golden version), and also Litecoin, that is considered being the little brother of bitcoin because of its similarities. Now we have the small sister. In the future I am expecting to have

bitcoin's nephew,
bitcoin's cousin,
bitcoin's schoolmate,
bitcoin's roommate,
bitcoin's European lover,
bitcoin's American lover,
bitcoin's Latin host,
bitcoin's best friend from Australia,
bitcoin's Indian neighbor,

and so on...  Grin
