Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell?
by
Skydrill
on 09/09/2025, 09:54:50 UTC
The best time for buying is at low price and I think if you sell your coins with profit then you should not regret after Fluctuations in coin price because you have already taken your profit so ready to make another step instead of regret about past.

If you are in doubt about other coin then just buy bitcoin now and don't sell until you achieved your target. This time is not suitable for selling but if someone is in huge profit and he cannot hold longer then selling should be preferred. Understand the market and accept your profit but I think if someone is selling their bitcoin without waiting more so he will miss the opportunity of having huge profit in Bull season.
for me the time you buy doesn't really matters but when you sell, if you have a plan of selling when the value is higher then no matter what you spent during your purchase you are sure of making some profit because you already have a plan and you are committed to this plan not minding what the prevailing circumstances are, and then when it is convenient for you then you carryout your transactions, perhaps this is where the long term approach comes in.

Re: What should be your primary goal with your bitcoin investment?
by
Skydrill
on 09/09/2025, 09:40:39 UTC
There is nothing wrong with selling for short profit and to buy at the dip again and there is nothing wrong to hodl for long, it all depends on individual target goals. At any point, stay with your goal. The reason that some people regret on their investment is because of greed, they shift their goal post at the middle of the game. Bitcoin is a very volatile asset and when the bull comes with, it looks as if it will continue for a long time then you change your target plan to higher price but without recourse to correction on the price action that had already happened. After that correction, price may not get to your new target for a long time. So stay with the decision made earlier before investing, that's being discipline in investment.
I think I agree with your philosophy, I really do not think there is anything wrong in selling for short profit like you put and buying at the dip again, somehow that's a good strategy that most people ignore but has proven to be a good strategy, though a lot of people still prefer the long term plan as they intend to wait to see when the market is favourable (when the value increases) but all the same, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and plans pending on which best suits them because everybody has a different perspective concerning this very topic.

So risk taking helps us get new opportunities in life and it can also change our lives too.
Risk taking does not always get us new opportunities in business or even in life, doors won’t just open to you because you are a risk taker, your finances can drain away when you take nonessential risk. Risk has it’s good and dark sides, but when you take essential and correctly articulated risk even if you don’t get your target you will learn essential lessons from it.
Risk taking is so important to the extent that is it is even more riskier not to take risks in almost all the aspects of our daily life, but the question is, what kind of risk is one suppose to attempt, am I suppose to take a risk that is life threatening, no am not and that's why it's necessary to analyze the kind of risk to take because life is too precious and if lost in the process it can't be replaced but probably every other material thing can be gotten back if lost, for example if you lose money in business you can get it back, you can get properties if lost but not life.

Not that some people don't want to acquire a skill or learn a trade but due to high level of moral decadence and inpatients amongst young people of this generation that why it seems as if people don't want to learn, many are carried away with hopes of making it fast without building capacity through learning and that's why you see them go broke not too long after  hit some good amount of money, because they refused to learn the basic principles of how money works especially those who are into cyber crime(yahoo boys).

How easy for a new president who is been elected to fight corruption in a nation where all the systems of government is been corrupted,  like in the force,  and judiciary,  even the politicians.

Having  the mind to stop corruption is not easy in a nation that corruption  is seen as nothing, making an attempt to do so some politicians will do everything to frustrate the agenda. Do you think a genuine president can easily end corruption of this level ?
I wouldn't say Trump is scared of Putin's alliance with President Xi of China but rather concerned about the possible outcome of such alliance, Russia is a regional power and China is world's second largest economy and such alliance can go along way to cause a lot of global issue if not checked so it very much important that the US stays focus and keep a close eye on them.

Re: Must everyone invest in Bitcoin?
by
Skydrill
on 08/09/2025, 16:30:51 UTC
I had a conversation with someone outside this forum and my choice of topic "Must everyone invest in Bitcoin" was his question, it's a nice question for someone that's willing to know about Bitcoin so I decided to bring it here to know the opinion of members of our Local board.
Well my own opinion and reply to him is that it's a matter of choice, Bitcoin investment is not forced on anyone, yes anyone can invest in it but must be willing and should have the necessary requirements to do so, moreover it's not the only investment option and there are lots of others like Real Estate, Gold, Stock, and even Commodities like agricultural, petroleum/natural gas, livestocks etc.
However since Bitcoin is a modern form of investment, the best digital asset and has become a very reliable asset that can generate good profits for long-term it would be nice to seize the opportunity of investing in it as it's still very early compared to when the price would go higher in the future, hopefully.
Not necessarily everyone, some people have other ventures that they would rather put their money whereas some other people are not really inclined with Bitcoin and at such may not be interested but for those who understand and know the value of Bitcoin it is convenient for them because they do not need anybody to convince them about investing in Bitcoin.

Re: Nigeria at 65: need to invest in Bitcoin
by
Skydrill
on 08/09/2025, 16:22:29 UTC
Nigeria gained her independence on the 1st October 1960 with its first head as Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe. Nigeria has had several forms of legal tenders ranging from the precolonial use of cowries, beads and other means down to the colonial era of using the British West African pounds until 1958 when the Central bank of Nigeria was established and our currency took a new name as the Nigeria Pound, shilling and Penny until 1972. On the 1st of January 1973 the currency officially changed to Naira  as coined out by chief Obafemi Awolowo exchanging at #1=£0.5. From independence until late 70's the Naira has been more valuable than the Dollar until the coming of Gen Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida who was forced to accept the IMF terms in 1986 due to economic challenges leading to the continuous devaluation of the Nigerian Naira till date. This also introduced Bureau de change and naira started going down daily.

The continuous devaluation led to Nigerians seeking other form of safety for the value of their money overtime which led many into much investment into gold to safeguard their money.

In 2016 following launch of MMM a Ponzi scheme, during the brutal recession, Nigerians again were sensitised on the benefits of investing with Bitcoin in the scheme which offered up to 40% monthly gain on your investment instead of the usual 30% on Naira based investment and this became pivotal in Nigerians buying more bitcoin for this reason even though they were minimal buys earlier. Dollar was already above #200 and the economy was degrading massively.  Even though the scheme crashed with over 3 million Nigerians hard earned money, it infused many Nigerians into Bitcoin knowledge and continuous buys since they discovered how more reliable it was compared to Naira.  This down trend of Naira caught the attention of Satisense in 2020. His tweet below awakened more Nigerians to find an alternative safe haven for the value of their money.

https://talkimg.com/images/2025/09/08/Ung5eq.jpeg

Fast forward to 2025, Naira has bled while bitcoin has been up and going. Dollar now sells at above #1500 while bitcoin now sells at above $112k. The bitcoin awareness too is on the rise because everyone wants the best for his efforts over time. As of October 2024, over 33% of Nigerians were estimated to be investing in cryptocurrencies of which Bitcoin was top.

PS: Can we strengthen Naira or ignore it since we are not affected since our resources are now saved in Bitcoin?
🇳🇬

the federal government of Nigeria over time has always been reluctant in engaging strategic policies that would improve the well being of the people, rather they would always look for ways to antagonize them and make them look bad all in a bid to further plunge the people into the pits of poverty, if the government were really sincere then by now the Nigerian government would have taken the lead to implementing policies that would have harnessed the  use of Bitcoin in our local economy for the betterment of the people and to grow the economy.

Is not that something which is done only in African countries, so couples can be sure their children won't suffer from adnormalities on their red cells?
This is something which is pretty much unheard of in the American continent, I have never had my blood examined when I have a girlfriend and I have never even suggested any of my girlfriends to get tested to know their genotypes...

It must be kind of weird to live in a society where people pays such amount of attention to genetics of other people. Again, it is something which is not common here.
The main issue with genotype in most cases is mere ignorance, a lot of people do not understand how important it is for an individual to know his or her genotype before they start having children, if there is much awareness in the society concerning this very topic then we wouldn't be having children suffering with sickle cell as a result of the mistake of their parents because awareness is key to eliminating the disease.

Bad government results to lesser jobs. And when there's less jobs, even the good people that cannot find any opportunity anymore will find opportunity in bad ways. While doing such shouldn't be tolerated and these guys have to be punished, they can still live somewhere and doing their things the normal way, not the crimes that they've done. While the discussion keeps going on, this will give more people the thought of what if the actual government are also the bad guys. Well, that's politics there and it will be an unending discussion.

That's true, checking at all nations where is no proper leadership and provision for job opportunities crime rate seem to be much high but these needs to be punished because lack of jobs is not excuse for criminal activities.
[/quote]most acts of the government are also criminal but due to the power the have by the virtue of the office the occupy sometimes such excesses are overlooked but it still doesn't change the fact that those actions affect the well being of the citizenry.

Certain decisions that leaders take are never in the best interest of the people but because they are not answerable to anyone it is often swept under the carpet, some leaders are worse than criminals, because sometimes use their positions for embezzlement, allocate contract to their cronies, and also covet state assets, all these are criminal actions but the sometimes get away with it especially in third world countries.

Would you rather want to wait till marriage to intimately know your partner or will you rather know everything there is before marriage?
well it all depends on the religious background of the couples, if this decision conforms to the religious beliefs of the individuals involved then why not? But on the flip side it would be an opportunity for both spouses to express themselves Sexually thereby increasing the intimacy between both parties which is a great recipe that engenders a great relationship.

I dislike when you guys see politics as a dirty game, its not please, I'm a political scientist just because there are dirty people playing the game in this part of the world doesn't make it a dirty game generally. Its a game of interest, to serve the best interest of the people when elected, and to solve a societal issues. if you understand  politics you will know its a service game not where you enter to enrich yourself, in fact in the western world people do not think about it, they see it a stress game for servicing people when you should use the time to build one-self, that is why people don't see  politicians as anything in an aspect of sing praises for them, just as we do in Africa. because they are mere workers.

In Nigeria, buccaneers, blood suckers and ritualists has join the game and  has make the  game of politics look like a dangerous one, because if you dare challenge them they will kill you. Technocrats has shifted attention from the game of politics , its now left for dangerous men in the country, and all they do is to enrich themselves with the resources given to them to better the society, they embezzled the funds and there is no consequence for it. That is the  only dirty i see in this part of the world.
literally everybody is entitled to their own opinion towards every issue whether political, governance, leadership or life in general and for somebody to think politics is a dirty game isn't strange to me considering the antecedents of politicians and how they negatively impacted the system.

A typical Nigerians politician has little or no respect for the people they claim to be representing and at such do not care if the people live or die, and in some cases they even go as far as killing those who stand to criticize oppose them openly.

Nigeria's election is no longer judged by what the government has done or achieved while in office.

Also, your vote no longer seems to count.

As you rightly said, politics is a dirty game. Those politicians forming coalitions to bring down the APC are also deceivers. They are not genuinely concerned about Nigerians; they simply want power.

They have no concrete plans to tackle kidnapping, banditry, or insecurity.

Don’t be carried away by their moves.

A politician like El-Rufai is only against Tinubu because he feels he was not properly compensated for the sacrifices he made during the last election.

If everybody go just get one mindset not to vote that day, since them already know who be the winner.
Make they just make their choice and people go just follow am, than to dey waste people time and energy yet, them no give wetin the people want.

So no reason to vote, corrupt don take over everything for this country and na only God go save person for this country, because politics no be wetin person go involve themselves put, e no dey bring good results at all.
due to the complex nature of the kind of politicking done in this part of the world especially in Africa where integrity and accountability do not really hold water, it could be very difficult to vote based on antecedents but rather by ethnicity, religious or tribal sentiments which is why people are held responsible when they abuse their offices.

Re: Possible value of Bitcoin 10 years from now.
by
Skydrill
on 06/09/2025, 18:46:05 UTC
I’ve been hearing a lot of different opinions, and I’m really curious, What could Bitcoin be worth 10 years from now?
Is it still a good idea to invest in Bitcoin for the long term?
I'm just trying to understand if it’s something worth holding onto over time. Any advice, or beginner tips would be super helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Bitcoin is expected to grow cumulatively far more than the S&P 500 or gold, which only grow on average just enough to keep up with inflation. There are various growth projections ,Michael Saylor, for example, predicted a 21% cumulative annual growth rate over 21 years.Power law model, which is based on mathematics and physics, has projections and predicts a cumulative growth rate of 30–40%.That's why I place more trust in this model . it's grounded in mathematics and objective principles rather than speculation.
It's important to understand that a cumulative growth rate doesn't mean Bitcoin will go up every single year. Instead, it refers to the average compounded return over a longer period ,including years of sideways movement or bear markets. For example, gold reached an all-time high of $2,000 per ounce back in 2011, but then went through a multi-year bear market. By 2015, it had bottomed out near $1,000 per ounce. However, if you look at the cumulative return over a 20-year period, it averaged around 8% annually roughly in line with inflation.

If you want to preserve your money, beat inflation, and even earn additional returns, then saving in Bitcoin is a much better and harder asset compared to gold or the S&P 500.
I think the answer to this question is pretty hard because even a pundit would find it difficult to answer such a question but I guess Bitcoin is the way of the future and has lots of positive prospects which I think would yield lots of positive returns for everyone that has invested vigorously in it, but I can't really tell but can only imagine the possibilities that Bitcoin holds in time to come.

Re: Two states have banned nursery, primary and secondary graduation ceremonies
by
Skydrill
on 06/09/2025, 15:58:08 UTC
I love what the governors of those two states did.Schools have turned that graduation ceremony into another way of extorting money from parents. Parents pay heavily for this event. As i write this,i am a victim of this intentional act from the proprietor of the school my children attend. Soon other states will enact same law in their various states abolishing that exploitation act . It's so annoying, after you register your child or children with huge amount of money yet at the end of the term you are expected to pay another huge amount of money again for the end of term graduation party.
I don't know how true is this but if it's actually true, then it's definitely a step in the right direction because these schools have taken it as a harbit to use graduation ceremony to milk parents of their hard earned money.
And one thing I have noticed about all this is that it is being carried out mostly by small private schools the most, not even recognized ones, that's why poor people or average income earners are being hit the most by this unprofessionalism by this schools, so it's a welcome development and a step i am really in support of if it's true.
Yes t is true, the financial burden on these parents are just do heartbreaking, I can imagine a situation whereby a parent has 4 children in the same school and two graduating, the two not graduating pays for the party and the two graduating pays even more for the graduating materials and gowns. Those schools would never allow the siblings in the same graduating class to purchase one item in a bid to lessen the burden on parents or even give parents with more wards a discount and it has been a problem right from when I was a small boy.

Here is your link to confirm the authenticity of this implementation in Benue state
No one is saying there shouldn't graduation ceremonies in our schools but it shouldn't be used as an avenue to extort money from parents and guardians or these kids, so many of went through the same system as kids but we never experienced such but in this modern times it has become something else where parents of these kids would be asked to pay extravagant or should I say outrageous amount of money for kids in nursery/primary all in the name of graduation, the government did the right thing but I would rather want to government to introduce some new policies to that effect that would control the excesses of these Schools rather stoping them entirely.

they would just introduce a little game or scheme that seems too real where you would sign up with no amount and automatically specific amount would be credited to your balance and asked you to make withdrawal of it within 24 hours or 48 hrs before expiration.
In the majority of all the cases of scams, there is always this too-good-to-be-true offer that gives it away as a scam. Victims of these scams are usually individuals who ignore the red flag of the offer sounding too good to be true and choose to try, probably believing that they hit a gold mine or they're lucky to come across such an opportunity.

If you are still attached to or moved by free money, that is, at the promise of free money, you lose your sense of reasoning; you are just GREEDY.

there is always something fishy about scammers which the victims always ignore, it takes a greedy person to get scammed anyway, the scammers are always looking out to capitalize on the greed of their victims and the victims are always those who are always thrilled with free money that require less or no work which do not really exist in a sane clime and so they make their offer which are often too juicy and irresistible to their preys but at the end of the day it always end in regrets.

Re: Which is better for Nigerians: saving in Bitcoin or saving in USDT?
by
Skydrill
on 06/09/2025, 15:34:15 UTC
A lot of Nigerians are now looking for ways to protect their money from the falling naira. Two of the most common options are Bitcoin and USDT.

Bitcoin has the advantage of long-term growth, but it is very volatile. The price can rise in a week but also drop badly. USDT on the other hand is stable since it is tied to the dollar, but it doesn’t increase in value, it only protects against naira depreciation.

So the question is, for someone in Nigeria who just wants to save money safely, which is the better option: Bitcoin or USDT? Or should people combine both?

Would like to hear from others who are already using these methods to save.
For me I would prefer using both platforms, and the reason is due to the advantages that are associated with both platforms even if the dollar seem to be more stable in terms of volatility which I think could be more preferable to the Bitcoin, the situations that affect the value of the dollar are not as swift as that which affect the Bitcoins re but one unique advantage that the bitcoin has over the dollar is that when it rises it's value surpasses that of the dollar and same applied when it also drops in value.

Since the bull market started last quarters of last year, we have seen more increase and minor retracements(often gradual retracement) but the last seven days have been very challenging for the Bitcoin market. The same period should be the first time in a long time that we are seeing Bitcoin price drop by 24%, a figure I consider a retracement. In the last 24hrs, Bitcoin have dropped over 12% in price which is the highest drop in price experienced in24hrs since last quarters of last year. The picture below is the data gotten from Coinmarketcap.

https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/08/05/5swpZ.png

To the average investors, this can be very troubling as many will be considering to sell to avoid further depletion of their asset. But is this the right thing to do? Do you plan to sell now to avoid further loss?

Many people in some of the groups I know are thinking about converting to USDT to convert back to BTC after the rainfall stops but I don't thing this is a wise decision. Personally I have resolved to continue buying this time. What do you think?
For every smart investor this could be probably the best moment to invest, this could just be the best time to buy more bitcoins, who knows, just may be after this stormy weather there might be some positive changes so rather than do the rush hour sales it would be better to hold on and wait for that moment when it would more favourable for you so you can smile to the bank when others regretting their actions after selling their coin, it takes patience to obtain the price remember, no pain , no gain, this could be the time to buy more because if you re buying then you are at advantage, only the smart may understand this theory.

on 06/09/2025, 09:34:09 UTC
In general, the only sector that generates money in the kind of society we have today is the business sector. It's the only profit-making sector. So, yeah, you can't underestimate its role in the economy.

However, it's the government that makes sure this sector thrives. Investors and entrepreneurs can only survive and flourish if the government creates a healthy business environment. So, you can't also underestimate the role of the government.

In every successful society, it's always a healthy mutualism that propels it forward.
Almost every sector of the economy is business oriented and needs good government policies to thrive else they might not be able to survive especially in this part of the world, it is also important to note that the government can't employ all of its citizens which is why the private sector happens to be one of the key areas of the economy through which government generate a significant amount of her revenue and also relies heavily on this private sector for the employment of its citizens also but if the policies of the government isn't friendly enough for investors who run the private sector, how do you expect them to come to your country?
