Re: Doctors caused AIDS and/or invented it, and also cause many cancers

But what was it about those missions to Africa? Ok, well the christians often had doctors and medical people come along and give out drugs or inject drugs and stuff like that, and that has something to do with what I am trying to show
about HTLV which got renamed to HIV

It just so happens that there was people starving in africa, and to save money, they bought 'generic' drugs supposedly, but I dont know if that is it or not, but anyways, the drugs may have caused people to get problems with what was called HTLV at the time, you know, the one they changed the name to HIV

And this explains how homologus Immunodeficiency viruses exist in various simian and feline species worldwide?  Those evil doctors also created these viruses and limited them to distinct species (ie: Humans cannot become infected with FIV...) why bother?  Also, what techniques did the doctors use to create these viruses?  Molecular cloning was in its infancy before the discovery of PCR.  HTLV-1 was discovered 6 years before this technique.  How could people engineer a new virus without such a critical technique?  Why are there endogenous retrovirus sequences conserved in the genome of every human on earth and those that died years ago if the virus was invented in 1983?  How does a simple name change cover up such a grand conspiracy?  Ultimately the burden of proof is on the claimant.  Your only proof is your anecdote about all doctors lying during their professional careers, and that the name was changed (interestingly this isn't the the only virus that has had its name changed).

Originally when discovered, HIV, was called HTLV-III.  This is unsurprising as it does infect T lymphocytes.  Just like the other HTLV retroviruses.  However, the clinical presentation of infection is distinctly different between these viruses and for clarity it makes sense to change names.

One of the strange things, is that HTLV is even spelled similar to HIV, isn't it?
HTLV
HIV

LOOKS SIMILAR TO ME

At the risk of feeding a troll, sure they look similar.  Not that surprising when two of the letters in both acronyms stand for the same words

H Human                               H Human
I Immunodeficiency                 T T
V Virus                                  L Lymphocyte
                                           V Virus

My god, that proves it all...

The flight data recorder will give information about the co-ordinates from where the missile was fired. Then it will be easier to ascertain who fired the missile (according to the latest regional control map).

This is com air.  They do not come equipped with any sort of radar warning receiver.  They cannot detect anti air missile launches.  Some airlines have looked into countermeasures against IR based man portable air defense systems but such a system would be useless against a radio guided SAM.  The best the black boxes will show is a loss of hydraulic pressure caused by the missile explosion and the subsequent futile efforts of the flight crew to maintain control for however long the plain remained intact.

At first I thought this was a partisan hack job, but the more I hear about it, I honestly wonder if they Republicans might be on to something.  It is entirely disturbing to me that the agency that is capable of wrecking your financial life if you do not save proper documentation for something like 7 years relies on a single hard drive to store important communications.  Whether this is pure incompetence of malfeasance, it reeks either way.

Re: Study: Everyone hates environmentalists and feminists
by

Not everyone hates anyone. Stupid headlines do not facilitate civil discourse. Nor does personalization or sweeping under a single banner describe the many disparate issues these rubrics contain. For instance, one might dislike a feminism of equality, which posits that any woman ought to be able to do anything any man can,

If you take your time browsing this thread  the idea a woman should NOT be equal to a man (in modern western societies) is not too popular. The idea feminists NEVER seem to fight for their female comrades rights where they are being abused all over the world is a common idea on this thread...

Well often the activists championing the plight of the people in oppressed countries point a finger at those in the western ones as the oppressors responsible for the situation.  To take up that banner would force them to label themselves as an oppressor by nature of being born in a more wealthy country.  This would cause a great deal of mental anguish due to cognitive dissonance.  These individuals have spent years viewing themselves as oppressed by some imagined patriarchy.  To switch caps would simply be too much to ask.

"liberal" Ann Coulter?

I'm suspecting the liberal version is what was meant.  Two sides of the same coin and what not.  Being a political shock jock is certainly profitable.

there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of opportunity as a liberal though.. hate krugman if you like, but at least he's not a glen beck or rush limbaugh. i can't think of any other liberal who is worse than krugman too.

Well in the US, you could go down the list of multimillionaire MSNBC hosts.  While they denounce each other on the air, you put the Fox and and MSNBC pundits in the same room they will laugh all the way to the same bank.

Someone on reddit posted that he saw Karpeles walk out from a brothel in Japan some time ago, so it seems he's in Japan having a good time and enjoying himself. Just what one would expect from him.

Got a source on this?  Would be fascinating to see if there was any evidence.

Re: US Soldier in exchange for 5 Al-Qaeda members
by
Slab Squathrust
on 05/06/2014, 22:07:12 UTC
Just one soldier released in exchange for 5 hardcore terrorists. These terrorists in turn will kill many more American soldiers. Bergdahl wasn't even a high ranking officer to begin with.

That is a really jackass thing to say, what good is a desk jokey? How many high ranking officers do you see pulling the trigger? NOT A DAMN ONE OF THEM. Save all the pencil pushing officers and throw the people who actually fight to the wayside....

While I do not agree how this was handled that comment was beyond stupid...

The real reason obama did this was to say "I did everything I could to leave no US troops behind". Do not forget we are might be 100% out of afgan by the end of the year, and to leave a captured soldier would be just another smudge on the war.

I am not a conspiracy person but the move seems so stupid that it makes me wonder if there is something else going on.

Well I am not sure you are in the US or not, but our Veterans health care service recently had a big scandal where patients may have died waiting for care.  Whether this is Obama's fault or not is debatable.  The VA has had issues for years long before Obama assumed the office.  However, Obama did implement policy changes that may have exacerbated the situation.  Some suspect this swap may have been timed to help bury that news.  If true, it certainly seems to have worked.

Re: The Truth About Bitcoin!!
by
Slab Squathrust
on 05/06/2014, 20:25:45 UTC
So wait, let me get this straight.  By using bitcoins, I'm actually helping overthrow some alien overlord at the behest of a different alien overlord?  If that is the case, what the hell is the point?  In such a situation wouldn't it be prudent for humanity to just commit mass suicide and screw both aliens over? Further, the fact that they are so advanced that they could engineer us from the apes, would suggest that no matter what we do, we could not overthrow them.  After all, they could just engineer those traits out of humanity.  Why would they use some primitive lab rat as their proxy war?

To all alien overlords out there, I align myself with the insectoids, because bitcoin is a cool idea.  Thanks, and have a good day.

Re: Losing the High Moral Ground

I honestly feel that the rise of silk road was a sign of bitcoins success.  If people/addicts were willing to trade btc for their high of choice, it is a sign that bitcoin works as a currency.  Even if the seller then converted to USD, bitcoin filled one of its primary purposes.  It was used as a cheap, decentralized means of exchange out of the control of a government or financial entity.  Hopefully in the future, we can reach a point where there is some stability in the price of bitcoin vs major fiat currencies, and people will feel more comfortable storing value as bitcoins just like they do with any other store of value (precious metals, currencies, equities).

Re: how many watts does this rig take?
by
Slab Squathrust
on 28/05/2014, 18:40:01 UTC
When I had my rigs on X11 I noticed about 30% less power usage with under volting.  Now, I am not sure if that is inherent to the hashing algorithm, or that mining software is just poorly optimized.  That being said, the list power consumption of that rig is 1260 watts.  At 30% savings that is 756 watts.  Theoretically an 850 watt power supply should be enough.  Although you would probably not have enough pci power connectors and would have to use molex converters.  If it was me, I would buy a 1500 watt PSU or two 850 watters and jump the second one and be done with it.  That way, if you decide to mine a different algorithm, or the miners become better optimized you will be covered.  Secondly, there is no substitute for a quality power supply.  Go big or go home.  Make sure you buy a reputable brand.  There is no reason to play Russian roulette with your hardware to save a few bucks on your PSU.
