Re: Windows PRNG “Seed” registry key
by
Slaphead
on 04/05/2017, 01:22:26 UTC
It says in the quote that only the last 64 bytes are used to seed the CSPRNG so what is there to worry about? The first 12 bytes that remain constant aren't used to seed the CSPRNG. Maybe they serve some other purpose.

Although they aren't used to seed the CSPRNG they must be related to it, or they wouldn't be included in that registry key value. If the twelve bytes represent the differing entropy sources found and used on a particular computer there might be a security risk if an attacker reads them. On the other hand they might represent a unique identifier, in which case it doesn't matter if an attacker reads them.

I'm probably worrying about nothing, but I'd like to know WTF they are for.

Windows PRNG “Seed” registry key
by
Slaphead
on 03/05/2017, 22:57:57 UTC
The last 64 bytes of the Windows PRNG “Seed” registry key hold a unique hash used to seed the CryptoAPI PRNG. However, that registry key value is 76 bytes long. What do the first 12 bytes hold?

The seed bytes change after every reboot, but the first 12 bytes never change. I tried deleting them and then rebooting, but the system restored exactly the same first 12 bytes. Is there any security risk from an attacker managing to read those 12 bytes? I assume the seed is used in bitcoin private key generation, and those 12 bytes must have some relationship to the seed.

In older versions of Windows the seed was stored in this registry key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG\Seed

In newer versions of windows the seed now lives here.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\RNG

The only information I found from a google was here.

http://illmatics.com/Windows%208%20Heap%20Internals.pdf

OslpGatherSeedFileEntropy

Gathers entropy by looking up the value of the “Seed” registry key (REG_BINARY) in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\RNG.

This key is 76 bytes in size, whereas the last 64 bytes hold a unique hash used to seed the CryptoAPI PRNG

For BCD Github, check this out: https://github.com/BitCADplatform
and about escrow, i don't know Smiley

I checked that github link and there's nothing there, just this message that the repository is empty.

24h passed now :

475 BTC from BTC
227 BTC from Crypti
23  BTC from ShapeShift coins
_______________________________

725 BTC in 24H

There's still 6 or 7 hours to go because the start was delayed.

So the ico go 1 month and on day 1 (in 6 hours because the delayed start) we will see about 1000 btc.

does it make any sence to invest only 1 bitcoin anymore? mhhhh
the price will rise a lot surely. It could be a whale games at the end.

Considering the Ethereum ICO, it raised millions of dollars and it was still a worthwhile investment. Most investors could have made ten times what they put in if they immediately sold, and much more if they held until now. An ICO raising big money doesn't mean participants won't make a good profit.

It's another bloody hoaxer who didn't sign his email or provide any other cryptographic proof he's Satoshi. Do we have to endure another "I am Satoshi" hoax every few weeks? Discussions about the last one haven't finished yet, and now we have another.

Ugh block finally solved after an hour and my transaction wasn't in it. Paid .0001 fee. Someone must be stress testing.

It was probably a 1MB block that was so full of transactions that there wasn't room left to fit your's in. After an hour's wait the backlog of transactions builds up. Usually the next few blocks are solved much faster than normal after an abnormally long delay between blocks.

Is the OP expecting everyone on the forum to dump their bitcoins because he said sell? It's pointless trying to instigate a dump by posting bear posts here. and yet every day these posts appear in an attempt to manipulate the market. The OP is wasting his time.

Hello,

anybody? All the team absent? Any word from anyone? A little reassurance the coin isn't dead would be nice and maybe tell us what to expect.
Where are things at this point?

We are still just organising funding to get new servers and continue development. The currency is still alive and has trade, vendors and use.

The website is still down. What happens if you cannot organize funding to get new servers for the website and to continue development? Will you abandon Sterlingcoin if you can't get more funding?

Thanks for keeping us up to date on this. The site's very important, without it people will stop supporting sterlingcoin.

Hello everyone.   It's been a while since I posted.  I want to start out with first an apology for my lack of appearance here.  My personal life has been rough lately and it has been hard to make ends meet.  I have many projects on my plate currently including: BitSMS, Cystum Multipool, Sterlingcoin updates ( API  / Block explorer / Android wallet ) and all the daily tasks of running the Sterlingcoin network servers.  That being said, I have jumped back on the horse and I am pushing out all these projects in turbo mode (remember when your PC had a turbo button? Wink )

There will be a crowd fund opening up for the multipool in the next few days to raise money for server / dev / equipment costs.  This will be stage one and I'm aiming at a low amount to get the funds raised.  I have a few thousand users that are going to register for the multipool and I'm going to need more resources to support the network.  I do not want to get in to too much detail on the funding here as I will lay that out on the crowd funding page. I will however tell you that the people who donate to the crowd fund will receive benefits from the multipool.  So if you donate you will benefit. You will become a share holder.

Finally, I want everyone who is still interested in Sterlingcoin and the Cystum Multipool to check back here for updates over the next week.  I will be posting some screenshots of the site and also more information on how the multipool will work.  Also I plan on holding a Google Hangouts meetup to talk with the community about anything related to the multipool and Sterlingcoin.  I will be posting later today on when I have a date for that.  Everyone enjoy their day and I hope to see a few of you in the Google hangout.

Hey syyyn! Any news about your development? It's been almost 3 weeks ago that you have post your last update.

When will you be posting screenshots of the site and more information on how the multipool will work?

Do VPS companies complain if you are using 100% CPU 24/7?

Some PoS coins don't use 100% CPU, but some do.

Something is not right, is it?
MAX_MONEY is just the maximum amount that can be included in a transaction.
It is not the total coins.

What is the total coins then?

check this https://cryptnz.com/status   voya wallet on that exchange is not fully synced , thei need to sync thei wallet and then the coins will start to show on your balance

Hm... Not fully synced may create forks?

No, not unless their wallet is mining. If it's running without mining it can't create forks by being out of sync.

I guess YoBit.net does not want to have customers... was going to buy some coins but I cannot register an account because it always states that the e-mail in invalid.

Even if I try to submit a support ticket.. I guess their e-mail validator is a bit off.. they might be losing a significant amount of customers with this...

If they have basic registration problems like that then it makes me wonder how reliable their whole service is.
