Actually it's not about them. It's a new partnership with a DAO that we've contracted with.

Come to the Discord and see for yourself!

Andy

hashrate and catcoin awareness is rising thanks to team 3

Greetings CATs,

It's great to see new interest in CAT and it's a pleasure to help new miners get set up on the CAT network!

   Some notes and updates...
- The catcoinwallets site finally has SSL. The wallets site will also have an SSL cert once it moves to its own domain.

- Some time in the next month the wallets site, seed node, and explorer will be moving to a new, faster, server. We'll announce that move and the temporary outage when that happens

- There have been some changes in the dev team that are not yet reflected in this thread's OP.  Maverick moved on many years ago and is no longer part of the dev team. He remains a mod on the Discord channels.  Blaksmith has been forced by day job pressure to step away from day to day dev work.

- Expect a Mac wallet in the next one to two months

- We're in the very early stage of vetting both team members and a strategy to get onto a couple of decent exchanges. The exchange environment has changed a great deal since Cryptsy folded. More on this when available.

- There is no "team 3". Various people have approached the team and have failed vetting. Use your standard crypto "spidy senses" (and escrow) if approached for OTC trades or other activities that might not be in the best interest of your holdings or the community.

Be well,
Andy

The dev team is happy to work with community members that desire to improve the project.  As we have since 2014, we will resist efforts to damage the project. We see this as a core responsibility of a professional team.  As the old CATs are aware, a lot of our history has history. New folks are welcome to read this thread and the two prior. The entire history of work for and against the project is well documented and requires no further bandwidth.

Greetings CATs,

The Catcoinwallets server is migrating to a new IP address. It might be glitchy for the next 24 hours as the DNS migrates around the world.

Hey all,

With the implosion of Freenode and the deletion of all CAT related channels, we're moving mods and chat to Discord.

CATs - as you've seen, Cryptopia has shut down trading and given us 30 days to remove coins from the exchange.  I received the same emails - we had zero heads-up and we didn't receive the usual 30 day notice.  We're working with them to find out why.  So far, they are saying that we need to 'improve our network' so that people can withdraw coins from their exchange.  Here's the thing:  I trade on Cryptopia and buy and sell CAT - I have never had a problem getting coins into or out of their exchange.  I likewise have never had a problem sending or receiving CAT between wallets.

The first question for everyone:  Have you EVER had any trouble getting CAT onto or out of Cryptopia?
The second is: Have you EVER had any trouble getting CAT out of a pool?
The third:  Have you EVER had any trouble sending CAT to (or receiving from) a wallet?

Thanks
Just a follow-up on this.  After a couple of tickets with tech support, and a long conversation with their Coin Wallet folks, it's clear that the only reason Cryptopia dropped CAT is because they weren't making enough money from our trading.  In the initial messages back and forth they said things like the above 'withdrawal problems' (which don't exist) or our lack of a whitepaper.  They claimed they didn't give us any notice of delisting so that the 'devs' didn't have the opportunity to liquidate their accounts.  (I get it - there's some real trash in the crypto world - and a lot of crap coins that are designed only to feed the devs.  But that's never been us.)  But at the end they admitted they have a secret process they use to find coins that bring them income.

what you mean with OP? all good, i installed the windows wallet on a vm machine... im not a coder, so i cant compile a wallet and i dont really need an update, its just that this situation is not good for a coin, many coins are fading away of the cryptoworld because i think the scene is cleaning and regulating, so investerors will not come if not much happend in a year, i know now that catcoin is not here to rule the market, its to learn crypto and experiment with it... no offense at all, just my thoughts Wink

No problem, and I didn't mean any offense.  We keep the 1st post in this thread updated with pools and exchanges, that's what I meant by 'OP'.  We still have one exchange and are looking for others.

Blaksmith transferred CAT from Cryptopia to NLexec (https://www.nlexch.com/markets/catbtc) yesterday and it went well.  I'll be bringing some of my CAT over there as well.

I hear you - I'm not much of a coder either.  There's a lot I'd like to do with the project but we really could use a couple of programmers on the team.

Thanks Millminer.
Andy

so there is no exchange available anymore, just a windows wallet online that didnt get an update for a year now.... bad times for our coins...
You might want to check the OP - there is at least one exchange.  While there's no Mac wallet (because we cannot find anyone with a Mac to compile a wallet and the people that we've contracted with in the past no longer do wallet work), there is a Windows wallet, and source code for all of the varieties of Unix/Linux.

As for wallet updates - I keep asking but nobody answers:  If you want an update, what do you want to see done differently?  The wallet and infrastructure works, we have exchanges and pools.  If there's something you want to see, speak up!

Dear Cat Dev
You can add cat coin to  https://digitalprice.io/

Thanks for the suggestion.  Here's the problem with this and every other exchange we've tried to get listed on:

Quote
As prerequisite you will need to fill up the form and will need to pay listing fees of 1000$ in Digitalprice coins (Ticker : DP)
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd7R2ynp8domEg_dcXzzPM4fmrhWQ36dNI3pUDGNAzEHgC_YQ/viewform

One Thousand USD to get listed.  And if the volume isn't up to their whims, they drop us.

CATs - this has always come down to the community.  We have a coin that works.  It doesn't need an ICO or an airdrop or a new wallet because what we have works.  But what we don't have is enough people mining or enough people trading.  Period.

I've personally invested more than $5000 over the past three years just in mining equipment, leases, and electricity to keep us going through dry periods.  For the past year, we've had more miners and that's been fantastic!  But after paying for our high-speed nodes and infrastructure, and equipment/electricity, I simply don't have $1000 to throw at all of the exchanges.

If the community has any thoughts on this, I'd like to hear them!

having some problems with client. downloads all blocks and stops(in debug window it shows that all blocks are downloaded but says that 3 weeks before) tried using setgenerate (worked on some satoshi clients) but it doesnt work. Can you help me?
Which client version and which operating system?  Are you trying to mine from the client?
i am not mining from the client, just checked will it work (i am gonna use cgminer for that) version 0.9.3.0 on windows
Cool.  Did the wallet sync?  Sometimes we get a long block and the wallet will stay at 1 or 2 or 12 hours behind, but it catches up on the next block.  Not sure what would stop it at 3 weeks, tho.

Setgenerate does work.  CPU mining will be a tough slog against ASICs, though.  If you go into help/debug window and open a console, and type setgenerate true -1 you'll see the CPU jump up to 100% activity. (The -1 means CPU use is not limited.  When I run this command, all four of my computer's cores jump to 100%.)  setgenerate false will stop CPU mining.

Good day! Your project looks  interesting. So I may consider to join your ICO - but can you tell me  what is your hard and soft cap?

We've been around since 2013.  This is not an ICO.

that means you can not recover ?? if you help me recover them I can give you a percentage of the total income
Did you check your addresses and transaction IDs?  If the addresses are marked 'not seen on network' or something similar, then you don't have any CAT to recover.

When a coin forks, the mining gains from mining a dead fork disappear - they are not real coins.  Valid transactions are sent to all nodes and end up in all chains and as long as the coin generation is valid, the transactions are valid and they will confirm on the network.

In December 2013, from launch until the end of the month, a bit more than 1 million coins were mined.  Considering how many of us were mining the launch (and how many forks were created in the early weeks) it's very unlikely that you mined 700,000 of those.  What likely happened is that you were mining a very low difficulty side chain that lost the race and was orphaned.  That means that you didn't generate legit CAT.  That's why you have no confirmations after four years and almost 126,000 blocks.

Here's the last block generated from 2013:  Block 20,209  (1,010,450 CAT mined)
http://catcoinwallets.com:2750/block/8e2c962dedb63b2a17c92fd28d29b9679740a4a0a89d63edd9b0b3c201fc5ecb

Sorry Alex - there's nothing anyone can do if the addresses or transactions aren't on the blockchain.

I received it but the other is still unconfirmed Sad

Are all of your transactions from the end of 2013/early 2014?

It's possible that you were mining one of the many forks that developed in the early weeks after CAT launched.  The founder launched the coin at a very low difficulty and used the same difficulty adjustment as BTC.  There was a LOT of hash on the coin at launch and more than one million CAT were mined in the first weeks - and there were a lot of forks.  Do you remember how you mined your coins?

yes, they are all from 2013

I do not remember .. I think it was solomining. I'm not sure

please help me:(

The best I can suggest is to check your addresses in the block explorer and see if any transactions are shown.

If you were mining a fork back then, and that fork was pruned, then any coins you mined were lost.  I lost a few thousand from those initial 'fork fests' as well - and it sucks.
