Value of coins going down?  Hmmm... well, if I remember my supply/demand economics an increase in supply with constant demand will decrease value/price.

It seems that there are plenty of coins out there, and the amount of mining capacity is increasing daily.  So supply is increasing.  Now, what about the demand?  Is there ANYTHING that actually is increasing demand lately?  Good news to get speculators to drop their money so we can pick it up?  Has someone created a killer app that will utilize any crypto currencies?  What has changed other than perhaps the mood of speculators?

Look - we all have to accept that the effective $/Mh is going to keep dropping month over month unless something happens to actually put all these numbers (cryptocoins) to work.  If anyone here REALLY believes that there is real value in the coins right now (i.e. enough uses to justify the 'average Joe' buying/holding/using them) please explain.  Everything I read is hopeful and or speculative.

Don't misunderstand - I really do believe there will be a place for this type of technology in the future.  I just don't see it right now.  If/when my mother sees a need to have some crypto currency then I'll know it has gone mainstream.  I can see paths to this future and I like them, but I don't know that it will ever happen; certainly there is a good chance it will happen in a different way than any of us can predict right now.

For now I mine for value.  I like to gamble on keeping a small portion too, but I believe in making hay while the sun is shining and I expect it may be past noon on this fine day.  I also know there will be another day after this one.. hopefully I get my crops planted early.

Hello,

I have made a terrible mistake by setting the username as incomplete bitcoin address. I have been mining 8 hours with wrong address. The wrong address had 2 letters missing from the end. Now I have fixed this error but what happens to the bitcoins I have already mined?

Wafflepool is not responding to my email, so maybe they can anwer here Smiley

He said he would be out of town until Thursday, so I'm guessing replies will be a touch delayed.  Does the stats page pull data for the incorrect address you used?

no stats, only says "Invalid BTC Address!", but when i was mining everything worked good so the coins must be somewhere out there.

Per the front page:
"Username: Your Bitcoin Address [invalid mining addresses are considered a donation to the pool]"

The pool thanks you for your donation I'm sure Smiley

As to the suggestion to allow holding of some alt-coins. I think it would be unnecessary complexity to the whole system.  More book keeping etc for the pool.

IF you want to collect some alt-coins "just in case" then take your btc from WP and go buy whatever you wish to hold.  Sure you have to pay a transaction fee but that is probably minimal in the big picture.

That said, we're still waiting for withdrawals from Cryptsy.  We have 2 pending withdrawals currently (and a ticket in to support), one for 71 btc submitted yesterday, one for 42 btc submitted just now.

Many problems on cryptsy withdrawals and other.. use bter.com if you can..

Is Cryptsy going the way of MtGox?  I would think that any/all exchanges would recognize that even greater than liquidity access is of primary concern...

Your profitability is pegged against litecoin - Is it the most profitable single coin out there?

I did a quick compare to Doge here : http://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/miningtobtc-ltc-doge.html because Doge was brought up earlier in discussion.  Seems that as Doge seems to be a bit stronger than LiteCoin it may be a better benchmark for comparison.

I realize you can't cater to every coin, but perhaps put a couple other 'big' ones on there and it could help sell your site better?

Doge is a joke coin. Because of auto-switching pools raping the high-value blocks, the real profit from mining doge is much smaller then the projected income.  Suffice to say, if you want to mine scrypt, you compare against the stable, highest hashrate, and non-retarded standard LTC.

Interesting, thanks for the perspective.

I tried different settings etc, still running about 10% rejects.  Guess I'm just not set up right for this pool... daily value is less than when I was mining Doge alone so I'm going back to that for a while.   I will keep checking and re-try in a bit, perhaps after the reject issue is figured out.  I hate losing 10% of my capacity like this.

If anyone has additional suggestions I'm game, but I can't really take the time to disconnect/reconnect a bunch of times in order to resolve this.

Yes I have had 24hrs of stable (relatively speaking) runtime.  At least no failovers that I know of.

Looking at the chart, my hashrate seems to jump quite a bit hour to hour which simply doesn't make sense to me.  The reported reject rates on the page is only for the last hour (I do believe, correct me if wrong) so I can't really know if I'm having massively greater rejects during the times reported.  I'm seeing what looks like 1.25-1.75 rates over the last 24hrs which is a significant variance.

My overall 24hr rate is reported as 1.5Mh

I agree that the only coin that has similar average long-term profitability is DOGE. But the whole point of coin-switching pool is to pick up a coin that only temporarily has good profitability and then switch to another coin that suddenly started being profitable. This is what this pool does.

Actually we're not even mining DOGE at all. We have too little hashpower for this. All these results come from other coins than DOGE. I really hope that we'll grow quickly to a point where we could start including DOGE as well.

Can you explain more on this as it seems with 375Mh/s you do have considerable power.

Another related topic; It would be nice if you could have a section on your site that gives more details on what users are contributing.  I've been trying to figure out how different changes are affecting my rejects.  I"ve had up to 15% that I've seen and as low as 5.8%.  The average of my observations seems to be about 9.8%.  Neither your "hash rate" or my rejects seems to exactly match cgminer's output (consistently shows > 1.7Mh yet you show my 24hr average at 1.5Mh/s).  Since clearly some coins are more profitable than others and switches come w/o warning I am finding it very difficult to tweak for reductions.

If you (or anyone else) has suggestions on optimizing, I'm willing to try any reasonable thing.

about 6 % rejects atm. Think I have to swap to middlecoin again until there's an eu server Sad

How has your net value of the BTC allocated to you (even with the rejects) compare to the net value of what you get from middlecoin?

I'll have to say that after more than 24hrs on this one I'm debating going back to Doge exclusively as it seems I may not be getting as much value here - I'm getting close to 10% rejects...

What's the best settings for this server. If I put high intensity I get a lot of rejects and if I put low intensity I losing to much hash rate so seems counter productive. What's everyone else running? I have 4 7950 2 290 and 2 290x.

I have 4 270's - I am trying I=17, was running 19 when mining Doge only.  Seems I still get about 5% reject right now, but better than the 10%+ I had at 19.  Will likely see if 18 is better, but I need more runtime to average things out and the disconnects really throw out the averages so I will just stay put until it seems stable.

Whoo hoo!  Finally a full hour of production!  Stats showing 1.7Mh/s for the last hour which seems about right...

Now to get that 10% reject rate down... Hmmm..

BTW, for me it looks like stats were updated about 10 minutes past the hour.  Will watch to see if this is consistent or not.

It looks like I'm connected again now - was offline an hour or so ago; had a bad night, effectively didn't get any real mining done on this pool so perhaps this is a sign of improvement.

Question:  You show stats by the hour; is this on the hour, quarter after? I.e. if I know I joined at 1:30, and I check back at 2:30, is this going to show the full hour or is it going to be perhaps 1/2 hr (1:30 until 2:00)?
