Hm, came here due to the Ethereum - Tau Article on The Cointelegraph.
I read the article but I don't see an advantage on the userside compared to any smart contract form, Ether or the proposed BTC smart conracts.
I also don't quite understand how the MSCTAU I might buy are really mine in terms of having the private key for the address...compared to every other presale I experienced.

The CT article indeed doesn't get into the fine details. Please have a look at the docs and ask any question.
The coins (which are intermediate only) are over the Omni (aka Master) protocol. They are encoded over the Bitcoin's blockchain, and you store your coins in a BTC address, with same privkey/pubkey, ownership, transferring, and everything else as in cryptocoins.
So Now I ask myself what has the Tau Chain to do with the Master protocol?
For the later ease of transferring "coins" when u run genesis?

Ethereum is on the verge of "exploding", while right now there is not much use for it, with the team and projects behind it, I can be sure it will get all those "uses" you want.
Keep waiting until its used everywhere to buy it... you will be alike those who din't buy BTC below $50 because there was not enough "uses".

I agree that ETH is on the verge - But on the other hand Bitcoin wants to adapt smart contracts.
I'm not sure if it will be a race between these two "coins" - I can well imagine Ether overtaking Bitcoin, but I can also imagine Ether failing in terms of adaption.
It's hard to say... but aside from hype/price/adoption i favour buying and checking out what's possible and how it works and what projects there are for Ether. I very much would like to see a true voting/statistic system ... like "What's your general income" or "pre-presidental elections" ... something like Gallup ... but asking everybody around the world.

my question is what will be effect of quantum computing on Ethereum?
That's a ridiculously complicated question that can't be answered yet.
Ethereum had to choose a different system and everybody had to agree on it.
Quantum Computing is by all means not the death of any Cryptocoin - Several Universities have written papers about it and there are theories for Quantum Encryption that can not get decrypted.
If you duckduckgo a little about it u will find some very interesting research papers.

P.S: Don't buy Ethereum on Poloniex - I got many many Ether stuck on their exchange and they won't resend it. (Since they don't know yet if it's safe to do so)
Edit: To the guy venting his spleen because of the missing GUI. Doing it in Code is much more convenient. You will get your GUI in the third phase of Ethereum. In addition, Think about it, which Coin ever had 3 Clients available..in different programming languages?! - It's very neat!

Mine are still not transferred...

Point me to total "coin" count plz currently in existence.
As far we know there is ~70 million premined (contracts) which some of those are sold at 0.0005 - 0.001 per BTC
mining rate is not so high 15sec blok which is 5eth (~20eth per minut being mined)
So only retard would buy at this price!
That's not nearly the wealth Bitcoin was generating daily.

I'm having the same Problem.
I opened a ticket... they said they look into it.

this is really troubeling since I bought many Ether... and now they are stuck.
EDIT: I don't recommend buying ETHER at Poloniex. Many Transactions went perfectly fine, but two of them didn't went through although Completet. Be careful...
My Ticket is open for more than 1 day... let's see how long it takes for them to give me my ETHER

This network has so much more to offer than Bitcoin. Ethereum within itsself is a whole little world with programming tools people can use to build services, whole exchanges...basically what they want.
To me, this is potentially much greater than Bitcoin or any Altcoin. There is nothing like it... and since this prroject will be in development for quite some time... there will be nothing quite like this - so no fear or "forking".

I think it's the wrong approach. The i2p Forum will not be used by many - as was the Anoncoin forum way back in 2014 (remember that one?).
As soon as Anoncoin gains more people, it's a great idea ... but now, I mean, It's like 10 people here... posting from time to time.
Wait for some more github entrys... for the new version... for people to come back cheering for ANC again.
In my view it's a big "IF" but I'd like to see it happen.

Twitter is a very powerful tool, in my view - The user of "AnoncoinTwitter" here on bitcointalk, does not know how to use it - In addition I do not know why he is still using this account - Proud of having many followers? Well it's not because of you, it's because of anoncoin and it's surroundings.
I too was very shattered when I heard that the development of Zerocoin was stuck and Gnosis and Meeh left. I am still uncertain, if Gnosis is from know on really working on Zerocoin - although I seen him on IRC it doesn't mean he goes to work.
But who am I to judge the ways of the people here trying to hold together what is left...
In the end... the most people here will cheer for anoncoin, when the price goes up. You will see "AnoncoinTwitter" tweeting like a dog ... to get people to buy ANC - when the price is rising ...
In the end - for most people - MOST - it's all about pricing, and I admit, for me it is too - because I was too long in the CryptoCommunity and worked on so many Coins... that I lost my faith in any coin out there - Thats the reason why I don't contribute anymore - Because I just get nothing in return, no pleasure, no friends.
I'm glad that some people get back to Anoncoin, although I know that Abyss and Cryptoslave sometimes exaggerate a little bit - it's no issue.
I simply suggest to the team, that you communicate more - and to let the people know (even via clearnet) that you are there! That you really develop! Show the Code! Get open! Because that's what people like to see... give them a reason to contribute to Anoncoin.

It's better that way - at least for me. Abyss, you know what shit can hit you via forums and the crypto world ... sometimes it's better to take your time out and just leave it alone for your own sake.
The best advertisement for a coin are github entries anyway... no twitter, no bitcointalk, no facebook ... simple real progress.

Yes, Gnosis was on IRC, his github account is "active" and he made an entry on anoncoin wiki.
So no matter if he's really working on the Code again - calm yourself.
I'd just prefer the newer ANC version to come out, and to see frequent github entries, before I support ANC again as I have long before.

My general thoughts about goods being exchanged with cryptocurrency of low acceptance rate is not very good... many marketplaces of that sort have failed... (nobody wants to buy a chair for ANC)

can any of the other coins be used with TOR and those other ones like ip2 etc? is this the first coin that is specifically designed for use with this kind of thing?
1. ANC was the first to integrate I2P with a SAM bridge
2. I am not aware of other coins with native I2P integration yet
3. Any coin can be configured to use I2P or TOR manually
ANC development has been extremely slow and the original developers have left.
I now believe that Monero is the best privacy option in crypto that exists today.
