Re: [ANN][CACH] CACHeCoin released based on scrypt-jane

If your doing something time sensitive, always pay through your wallet.  That way if the exchange is having an issue you will not be affected.

If you are worried about your coins staking istart your client with the reservebalance command line argument, which will make the specified amount of coins ineligible for stake by the client. If you put an amount in that is larger than your total coins, it will essentially turn off POS mining and therefore staking with your coins.

An example batch file to launch a client with the argument in Windows can be seen below. Make sure you change the relevant paths to match your own.

Code:
@echo off
start f:\cachecoin\cachecoin-qt.exe -reservebalance=100000
exit

Hope this helps.

For those who cant download the CACHE client from Mega, I have the v5.0.0.0 windows qt located here:

http://www.chainbrowser.com/qt/CACHeCoin.zip

I would also stay away from Cryptsy when buying/selling cache.  The market is being manipulated via bots and makes it impossible to see the true buy and sell orders.  Poloniex seems to be doing a much better job at keeping things under control.

QT should be avaiable before hand in password protected rars ... if other devs do this then need to do it else your coin is branded an instamined scam before you even start.

Makes no sense to me. What's the difference between offering a password protected zip prior launch with password at to unprotected zip at launch.

So that those with a slightly slower download speed are not at a disadvantage?

Seems like a stretch to me.

How long should it be before you receive your coins after entering your token? Been over an hour for me.

mining/minting there are still hashes to be made, arent they?
just that the difficulty is far far lower, because the deterministic factor is not hashpower, but the stake in the coin?

anways, i definitely have to read up in detail on this Wink

I guess you are right. Hashes are being created, but the diff is so low that they are just done almost instantly.  Regardless, with a pure POS coin, the POS aspect handles all the transactions and I don't think we need pools for this type of coin.

Can someone with more knowledge on POS confirm this?

POS only significantly reduces the hasing power needed, you still need a p2p network for a p2p currency to work don't you?

P2P network does not mean mining.  If everyone has a wallet with connected peers and does not mine, the P2P network is still established.

Difference with the POS is that you dont need to hash for it, but rather be lucky.  Therefore you dont actually "mine" the coins and thus dont need pools.

At least thats how i understand it.

no miners no network...

Doesn't the POS automatically handle this?

What is premine? Hopefully none, which will make this coin much more interesting to look at.

I am still confused as to whether or not this is POS or POW?  Is it a pure POS? If so, how are the initial coins being generated that will stake?

How many blocks of POW before it goes pure POS?
