How to get an alert if a miner program closes?

OK this may be an easy thing to do but I can not find a simple way to do it.  I just want some type of notification on my rig that will let me know if a specific program closes (like if Claymore or DSTM crashes).  I know there is server monitoring software that can be set up to send an email if a certain event happens but all I want is something like an audible bell to play if a miner closes.  How do you guys monitor your rigs?

Oh, this is for Windows 10

Is there a better way to temporarily stop one card in your rig from mining than running one instance of the miner specifying all cards that you want running all the time and another instance running just the card you sometimes want to stop?  I know in Claymore you can just use the number keys to toggle a specific card.

Re: Does system memory speed matter for Cryptonight?

My understanding - which has been borne out by testing on 2 different machines - is that the only memory that matters with CPU mining Cryptonight is the L3 cache; the faster it is, and the more of it, the faster Cryptonight can be mined.

FYI, the ideal number of threads for mining Cryptonight is L3 size in MB / 2. For example, the Ryzen 5 1600 has a 16MB L3 cache so the ideal number of threads is 8.

Also, avoid the use of Core 0 / Thread 0 if you run Windows 10 and need to use the computer for other things.

I highly recommend XMR-Stak in CPU-only mode and posted below is the relevant part of my cpu.txt file that sets up the thread configuration for my Ryzen 5 1600 and which gets around 440 H/s on average with minimal impact to usability:

Code:
"cpu_threads_conf" :
[
    { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 1 },
    { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 3 },
    { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 4 },
    { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 5 },
    { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 7 },
    { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 9 },
    { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 10 },
    { "low_power_mode" : false, "no_prefetch" : true, "affine_to_cpu" : 11 },

],

This configuration was figured out with the help of PM conversations between me and fellow user @Set Ready Go.

Thank you for the great information.  I was hoping someone would respond who has experience with the Ryzen 5.  I was planning on trying it as a dedicated CPU miner to get a benchmark hash rate and then try it with windows and a few GPU's mining something other than Cryptoknight (Not sure how much impact GPU mining will have on CPU mining).  I will read up on XMR-Stak as i noticed on monerobenchmarks.info that most of the "good" benchmark entries were using it.

Does system memory speed matter for Cryptonight?

I just purchased a Ryzen 1600 and have a BIOSTAR TB350-BTC motherboard on the way from Newegg and want to try cpu mining (I currently have two GPU rigs and if this does not work out I can use the MB to make a 3rd rig).  I can't seem to find a definite answer to whether the type of system ram makes a difference in hashing rates.  Will a cheap 4GB DDR4 2400 Kingston stick produce the same results as say a faster dual channel low latency pair?

I read somewhere that all coins are legit, all coins on exchanges are safe to buy and dev team will burn their own coins to adjust the difference.

Could you post a link to where you read that?

So does this manual swap mean we no longer need a Novaexchange account if we don't trade on that exchange?

The ASRock H81 pro BTC R2 is $200 CAD from NewEgg but they have a GIGABYTE GA-H110-D3A for $105 so I will just buy that and pick up a cheap 1151 CPU.

After buying a 570 and a 1060 card to try mining I am ready to build a dedicated rig and just ordered two 1070's.  Most of the build videos I have watched always seem to use newer motherboards (Prime 270's, 1151 CPUs...).  Since I have a G3258 and 2 4Gb sticks of Corsair ram just collecting dust I though I would just pick up an older 1150 motherboard and use that.  Is there any reason NOT to use an older motherboard?  I don't plan on adding more than five (or possibly six depending on which model I can find) GPU's.

I have a Sapphire 570 Pulse with 4 GB Hynix memory running the latest AMD driver and the memory strap mod and get 27 Mh/s (core clock and 2000 memory NO undervolting (electricity is included in my rent Smiley )).  Has anyone tried this card with the new AMD "mining" driver?  If so did you compare the stock memory timings with moded ones?
It can do 30.

30 wow, ok I will have to spend some time playing with it.  I just noticed I am running Claymore V9.6 so will change to a newer version.  Not sure if that will make a difference or not.

Just upgraded Claymore from v9.6 to v9.8 using exactly the same vanilla bat file and it's about the same hash rate (actually 26.8-26.9 but there might be some default settings for things like intensity that may need to changed).

Needs better timings, is what he means.

Using the Polaris BIOS editor I copied the 1500Mhz timing value to all the higher timings (there are timings "one" and timings "two" settings and the hex timing value is different for each so I used the different 1500 setting for each.  Is that right or should I use the same one for both?  Could I try using the 1425 or even 1375 Mhz timings or is that pushing it too far?

hi all !!

does anyone know the hashrate of Sapphire VGA Radeon RX 570 Nitro+ 4GB???

is it any good compared to the pulse model ??

Does 8gb of ram instead of 4gb makes a lot of difference in the hashrate?

thanks in advance !!

August 24th Terracoin Update - Unabated

I will also be posting guides for masternode setup at that time, so also feel free to really dig into those things.  No holds barred!

Will we need to have 5000 of the current Terracoin to host a test masternode?

Are there any plans to use a specific mining pool (like Supernova)?
