Ouuuu very nice  Grin

Indeed! Smiley I want some here too Sad but perhaps OP wont ship me it to Poland

Sorry, no. See my previous response to you.
that is very nice! I would like to have some but shipping might cost a lot Tongue

Anyway! Good luck and best wishes!

Assuming you're outside the US/Canada, then yes shipping would be a (even greater) issue. But don't let that stop you from submitting a request. You won't be the first and we're going to use such to roughly gauge the demand for where we should focus next. Already we have activists in a dozen or more countries asking us to make a version for their region/market/language, and knowing that there are people ready to employ these will help us in deciding where to direct our efforts. We'd like to make a version for "every" language and region, so long as we can find the support.

Sorry I missed it somehow by reading after hours Cheesy

In poland you will find a lot of support Smiley Many bitcoiners in here and new people are joining bitcoin world often.
prepare your brochures for our country and I will help you to manage them if you would like to.

I can translate them for you. Just PM me Smiley I can do some work for support Smiley

Thank you! Besides translation the biggest issue is identifying and enlisting the support of local providers of the various solutions of what the brochure covers: wallet providers, news sources, exchanges/etc, merchant services providers, bitcoin accepting businesses. Are there many local providers in those areas? The goal with the brochure is to be as valuable as possible to the activists who employ them. Having local providers, explanations in the local language, etc, increases the value to those who employ it and those who receive it. Bitcoin *is* a global phenomenon, but strengthening the local bitcoin economy by focusing on local service providers is good for bitcoin and the local bitcoin community.

I'D love to get some, any chance to get some to Finland? Smiley

Not this run. Its designed specifically for the US and Canada. But we very much want to make versions for other regions/languages/markets. Mostly to maximize the value to the activists who employ it. Something that is in your language, and focuses on local solutions before regional solutions before continental solutions before international solutions, will be of more value.

But like I said before, go ahead and send us a request. It will be considered a statement of support in expanding to your market. We may even ask you for your help in identifying local wallets/exchanges/merchant services/etc

Just reserved 100, I'll send a tip your way because I like the idea (:

Hey thanks! Tips will go towards some other similar effort.

Next I think I want to do a Spanish version aimed at the remittance market.
But I'm getting requests from activists in a couple dozen countries to do theirs next.
I'm toying with the idea of setting up multiple bitcoin chip-ins, each labeled with a different
region/language, and we'll let the tippers decide where we should focus next.

Who am I kidding? I'm going to be swamped stuffing manila envelopes and sending 100k brochures out for the next month.

PS I'm beginning to hate spread sheets.

tl;dr If you're a bitcoiner in the US or Canada and you want some of these free brochures, head on over to our website and submit a request!

http://bitcoinbigfoot.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/bitcoinmad-vertical-6thpage-300x300.jpg

Hey all! Its been a while since I've been by the forum. I want to apologize for not announcing this here, sooner.
I kept saying I need to go post this on the forum and I kept finding something else to distract me.
But hey, better almost late than never, right?

I founded Bitcoin Bigfoot at the beginning of this year.
Really its not even a boot-strapped start-up, more like a duct-tape start-up, but what else is new.

Our very first offering is the Plan ฿ brochure. We're producing and distributing one hundred thousand of these to US and Canadian bitcoin supporters/activists, at NO charge. Just giving em away. We can do this thanks to our wonderful sponsors and all the terrific people who donated a few mBTC. They'll be printed on 100# glossy paper, and have a nice professional look and feel.

These aren't a stand-in for a motivated, knowledgeable, enthusiastic bitcoin supporter/activist/evangelist, rather they're a promotional tool best employed by one. The inspiration comes from my own outreach efforts, talking to new bitcoiners in bars/cafes/etc. I would answer their questions, dispel the myths, etc, and everything would be fine until they'd say "well where do I get a wallet? where can I spend my bitcoin?" etc. Then I'd reach for a napkin and start scribbling urls. Seeing as bitcoin is a decentralized grassroots type phenomenon this is somewhat excusable, but I knew I could do better. So I got with a graphic designer friend of mine and we worked on a mock-up of the brochure and I set out to find sponsors to fund this effort.

Long story short, we've got lots of great sponsors and its time to finalize the design and send it off to the printer! We're set to begin distribution April 1st (no joke)

SO: Are you a bitcoin supporter/activists/evangelist in the US or Canada? Would you like a free promotional tool to help you in your outreach efforts?
If so head on over to our website and submit a request!

Great Sad another idiotic move. We need adopters of bitcoin to behave themselves. A few are setting a very poor example which reflects on all of us, and most importantly hurts our bottom line.

Unfortunately it takes a hell of a lot more good examples to make a headline.

Thus far I've only used my bitcoin to:

A:) Donate to charities/non-profits (Anti-war.com, Sean's Outpost, Shire Sharing, victims in the Philippines)

B:) Pay for services rendered (graphic design)

So, to me, use of bitcoin leads to being more charitable, and compensating people for the value they provide with actual value.

THE HORROR!

CoinValidation will love your wallet...

Which, if you know who I am and what I stand for, is hilarious

Re: Why treat bitcoin as money and not code/software?
by
Sovereign_Curtis
on 17/11/2013, 03:33:54 UTC
I figure this is probably a great place to ask this question.

So I'm in the shower this morning, and it hits me: Bitcoin is just ones and zeroes. Sure it has lots of the features and benefits traditional currency can provide (and a whole lot more), but it's just code, right? So how come (besides the fact government just loves to steal) bitcoin is being treated like it's money and not software? Having someone sign an End User License Agreement would be a hell of a lot simpler than having to gather tons of information on them.

Then maybe I wouldn't have to drive to Canada to see a Robocoin kiosk in action.

(Yes I'm in NH, yes I know the Lamassu guys, but I still haven't seen one of their machines)

It can be. Anything can be a currency as long as it meets these criteria:

1. People believe it to have value.
2. It is easy to trade.
3. It's hard to counterfeit.

I think software only meets No. 2..

I'd say 1 and 2, but yea, not 3

what can i say? those are the rules. Smiley if you plan to stick around for more than a day or two, it won't even matter. these rules drastically reduce pretty quickly. i can remember exactly how it works, though. happy posting!  Grin

Thanks!

I'm already out of the n00b prison, so that's cool. You're saying the 360 second rule will evaporate for me at some point?
yeah, i don't know what the rule is for me now, but i can't tell that it's even there. i remember at one point it was like 62 seconds. but now i don't notice it.

oops, i guess i said "can" instead of "can't" in that quote.....  Smiley

ha ha ha, I'm not sure I took that typo into account when responding.

Glad to know the restrictions get relaxed!
