I received all my miners. I don't have enough USB hubs to run them all yet, but thanks SSB!

I just sent 6.77 BTC for 21 miners with shipping and insurance.

miners 0.31 * 21 = 6.51
shipping 0.14
insurance 0.015 * 8 = 0.12
==================
6.51 + .14 + .12 = 6.77 total

PM sent with shipping info

Re: Are USB Block Erupters USB 1.0 Compatible?

They works well with USB 1.0. I use one 4 port HUB with USB 1.0 version .

Thanks zamot, that's very helpful feedback.

why would anyone use those small block erupters ... at 300mh it would take a year or more to pay for 1 erupter at 150 bucks.

Thankfully we can get them for $10-$30.

Yes, and that PC has to be before 1996 or it was fucking low end in 1998

Well, it's not the computer in question... I found some powerful and cheap usb 1.0 hubs that would be ideal for running block erupters. I have it's 2.0 brother and it works fine. I just ordered one of the 1.0, so we'll see how it goes.

I can't find the specs for the ASICMiner USB Block Erupters. Are they USB 1.0 compatible? If anyone knows where I can read the full specs that would be great!

I'm using Rosewill 10-port powered hubs.  They seem to have no problem powering 6 or 7 sticks (7 on 2 of them, 6 + the Pi on another).

Which Rosewill 10-port powered hubs are you using? (they have 4 different models, more like 3 since two of them are just different colors).

Re: Large USB Hub with Raspberry Pi and USB Block Erupters?

I haven't used a R-pi - but my home setup has 2 "normal" powered hubs (2.0 Amp) with 4 block eruptors on each.  Hum-ing away fro over 36 hours now.  No problem.

Cool, thanks for sharing.

In case anyone else is interested, the hubs I'm using where I can get 5 or 6 usb block eruptors running with raspberry pi are these ones (d-link 7 port DUB-H7): http://amzn.com/B00008VFAF

It'll do 6 without a fan, or 5 with a fan. Specifically, I'm using this fan: http://amzn.com/B003XN24GY

Large USB Hub with Raspberry Pi and USB Block Erupters?
by

I like the idea of mining with Raspberry Pi and USB block erupters, at least for now since they're both easy to come by. But, I've had trouble finding raspberry pi compatible usb hubs that can support more than 6 block erupters.

Although the Anker 10 port USB 3 hub is popular for usb block erupters, it's not Raspberry Pi compatible. There is a list of compatible hubs here:

http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals#Working_USB_Hubs

But, most of them don't have enough power, don't have many ports and/or aren't configured in a way that makes it easy to fill up the ports and cool them (like the Anker 10 port).

Has anybody found a big hub that works with Raspberry Pi and USB block erupters?
