The rattling inside the case got me quite scared, but looks like the fans for the heatsinks got loose en route, does anyone know how these are mounted correctly before I plug it in?

I hope this is the only problem I run into...

Ouch That is brutal.  I would be freaking out so here is some help.  The coolers are off the shelf Artic Cooling A320 CPU coolers.  Looks like the fan portion simply "snaps" on to the heatsink main body.  Take a look at the unboxing video and other install info in the link below.
http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/cpu/473/freezer-a30.html?c=2181

In a related note for people who want more airflow it looks like the cooler can be expanded to a second fan on the other side (push pull config).

I have to admit we doubled up on the padding on the heatsink to specifically specifically rectify that issue, with Marcus last week, and tested it. What the hell is UPS doing to these boxes?!

They DEFINITELY were throwing this box around from Sweden -> Germany(why?) -> Newark, NY -> Brooklyn, NY, one corner has a whole tear where you could see the metal case through at least 1-2 inches wide. I'm about to set it up right now. Crossing my fingers everything is smooth sailing from here now that the fans are re attached. Seems the screws aren't long enough to stay attached to the outer plastic shell that affixes to the heatsink.

How do you think their Chinese customers will feel?

I was doing so good, till today, but now I'm getting anxious. I changed my pickup order to delivery 2 weeks ago, I really hope they didn't forget to place the new order in the same place in the queue as promised. (I was #30 on the preorder list).

Bitcoinorama, you haven't happen to see a package heading to Hungary, did you? Smiley

Dude, the only thing i'm seeing currently, is stars!

The only thing I want to see right now, is a shower, or a bed.

Will bed and shower you, just give me a pickup time.

so Bitcoinorama, it seems that 1st day orders will be shipped today, right?.)

Perhaps; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoRWQD7bntY

Haha, that plead to handle the packages with care. That drivers response in total lack of enthusiasm.

Any word when pickups will be available?

Yo! Looks like orders are actually going out today.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDdcZtdBL2M

I would also like to be leaving here today! Wink

"...and there's a worthwhile reason for pulling an allnighter. Wink"
Curious about that Smiley

I will say that the guy in that video packaging that miner hasnt packaged a lot yet. Im sure he will get better at it in the coming week Smiley

Yeah, I realized that as well. The person acted clumsy, as he never had did that before. Notice that there is one part of the box which says "THIS SIDE UP". The person could not figure out how to leave that part visible when closing the box. By the way, I noticed something out of usual coming from the metal case:

http://.png

What could be that? Perhaps a power connector?

Absolutely. Had never done that before, also labels are meant to be; one on each side. Also have had no sleep and been stuck in this facility for three days whilst my clothing holidays in the hotel. On top of which I'm still reading negative crap and whinging for updates, whilst I personally multitask, packing the sodding boxes and keep you lot updated.

But...it appears I'm getting better at least...

Nice to see I made the correct call making sure we had a truck on standby and not sedans to go and pick these up. Holding my fingers they don't release pickups at rush hour.

Hmm, hardly going to be worth it if you pay for 4 flights at short notice. Maybe you could put two boxes inside one larger one, then you'd only have to pay for two seats on the return? I suppose they have a limit on the size, but surely the big box wouldn't be bigger than the average fat passenger?  Cheesy
You will be amazed how cheap flights from London to Stockholm are + RyanAir serves 2 Stockholm airports, so there is choice.
If they give me at least 3 days notice I can probably squeeze inside a budget of less than 200USD if it's not the weekend, which is less than the 240 I paid + quicker deployment + I get to securely transport the miners myself.

Cant you get one thats not fully assembled? Or at least with the casing not bent, like on one of those pictures?
Or disassemble it, I know Id get creative Smiley

That would invalidate the warranty + it will be bigger if it's flatpack.
The cheapest would be 2 single tickets on the way back.

Stockholm Skavsta Airport was recently voted as the 2nd most deceiving airport name in Europe. It's actually two hours+ outside of Stockholm city limits. Like flying to London and landing in Bristol.

so, if they want to start shipping today, they have to do it until 19:00

in Stockholm is now 18:18 so they have got ~40 minutes to ship.

I'm guessing you've never experienced Stockholm traffic during rush hour.

Should have arranged a group-drive, to pick up and deliver individually, back through Europe. Be a fun road trip....and a valuable van!

you could run a generator and some 3g internet and hash along the way! lol

It'll be like Speed, drop under 50mph and the alternator won't be able to power the miners.

I wanted to go and get it myself, but RyanAir won't let me carry it on board even if I pay an Extra Item Seat.
How come? Is it too big as carry on luggage or did they give you some other excuse?

Just looked at their figures, if it was inside a box it would prob be too big as carry on - by a few millimetres.
"Strictly one item of cabin baggage per passenger (excluding infants) weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm is permitted."

But surely you could have bought a seat for it?

Try to convince them that its not a bomb.

@Bitcoinorama

Are you now officialy work for Knc miners? They have presented you an working unit what you wanted to see first before you accept the job offer.
Maybe premature, but if you are working for them now (you already are, kind of), I believe congrats are in order
Great work my man!

Yes, they want me to stick around. Actually let me rephrase that; i've been forced to stick around in yesterday's clothing as they won't leave the factory until production is ramped up, and my clothing is in my hotel room, in Stockholm, that apparently wasn't needed.

They've asked my first official engagement to be to deliver a Jupiter to Becky and Austin, of Life on Bitcoin at the Atlanta Bitcoin Conference this coming weekend. Which is cool as it was my suggestion they get involved when I emailed them the Kickstarter fundraiser for the film a week after the original openday. However, I'm only happy to agree if i'm permitted access to a change of clothing from now, until then. Wink

Unofficially, i'm currently assembling your kit, so cheers whoever gave them the Ikea chair assembly image.

Any guesstimates on how may kits that been completed? Waiting for a bat signal to light up so I can swing by and pick up the orders.

6-pin PCI-E should be 75W.

8-pin 150W.

I just realized they are 6pin and not 8 pin, took for granted they were 8pin.

> 600 GH oc capabilities? Is that what I picked up from the hints?

You will need some modifications then. The four pcie connectors can deliver 150w x 4 for a total of max 600w. A standard 4pin molex can deliver 132w per atx specifications. If you rely on the rumored 1.4w/GH, that would give your miner a maximum theoretical of 732w/1.4w = 522.85 GH. If you want more, you´re going to have to solder some extra 8pin pcie connectors in there somewhere.

Here I see 6 sockets in the PCB

https://www.kncminer.com/news/news-39

How will they fit six chips into that case? Looks like four coolers is about what you can get in there, unless you get some extension cables, build on levels and go with water cooled heat sinks.

So, is it still possible to win the bitbet? Would 5 units delivered for hosting at the KNC datacenter count?

Maybe you can try to talk to them. I am available in Stockholm for a pickup, and so is Orama, maybe Anduck. Maybe 2 other hidden swedes. But I feel they would have to squeeze those boxes it at the last second and maybe people contacted at the last second by KNC...

I got a truck on standby to go and pick up our customers miners. Normally we don't allow photography in the data center, but the miners has been given their own room, so with permission from the owners you could get pics of rows and rows of miner within 30mins of release at KNC.

This has been discussed a lot of times before. KNC terms and conditions say they sell only to businesses. That way, they can offer a limited 1 year warranty rather than the normal 2 year consumer warranty a consumer is entitled to.

I think it's really pissed me off hearing him say "We are selling to the general public, anyone can buy from us" and then their t&c's, written long before this interview, say the exact opposite:
"1.2   The Products are sold for business use only and Purchaser hereby accepts that it has purchased the Products in order to conduct a business."
and
" 6. Limited Warranty
6.1  KnCMiner warrants that the Products, will perform according to the at all times published specification for a period of twelve (12) months from delivery"

yes but business customer have got usually signed contract with section about delivery condition and penalty if goods are not delivered as agreed. (usually discount in % of original price)
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HA HA. You obviously live on another planet and haven't read the actual t&c's. You don't have an order with them do you?

8. Delivery Terms

8.1  The Products are delivered EXW (Incoterms 2010) to the delivery address specified by the Purchaser, unless otherwise agreed. The delivery date is provided for information purposes only and shall not be binding on KnCMiner. The Purchaser is not entitled to refuse acceptance of the Products, withdraw, cancel or revoke the order or make claims for compensation due to any delayed delivery.

Smiley EU customer protection laws are quite good

You can even write in your T&Cs: 'no refund in case your neighbor is a moron'
but it's does not mean anything, because there are laws which break all (invalid) T&Cs

And I guess selling to private persons (w/o VAT-ID) and stating 'business use only' is just another of those terms.

Anyone from Sweden in here?
One consulting session of a Swedish layer should not be too expensive, we might collect some satoshis via escrow in order to get reliable infos regarding this.

Swedish passport holder reporting in. No, you cannot contract your way out of consumer laws by pretending the sale is for business only while accepting orders without VAT or other supporting evidence of business operations. I was a bit unsure myself, so I contacted our office for consumer rights in Sweden and they confirmed it for me. However, this sadly does not concern me as I did buy thru my workplace.

And it's the contrary in Belgium. You accepted a business contract as a business, therefore you are considered a business (even though you're not).

Thankfully they have to follow Swedish law. If all else fails, you can always do "the classic" and have a 16> year old sign/click the contract as they by law are unable to enter such in Sweden, a small headache for online shops.
