Everyone forgot how Supernova conducted an attack 51 on Bitcoin Gold?
Explain how this where done? Why did he do that? And is there an underlying reason for starting the FUD fest in public like he did?

Re: How do you deal with friends/family when they lose their investment?
by

on 16/03/2018, 06:38:55 UTC
I invested on behalf of my husband - and some of my own money - not much - but it is down with about 66%. When he asks how it goes, I say it is fire and brimstone - and that he should just forget about the money for now. It is not much anyway. Compared to the rest of our funds. Of course it would be excellent to have earned a lot of money like you see others have, but for now, I am content with not earning money, and just following the huuuuge dip we are in at the moment. I do hope things turn for the better. For those friends who lost, I dont mention that. It was their own choice.

Re: I am so stressful with trading coins, I lost 13000$

I think, as many before me has said. Right now, with Mt.Gox and everything causing "ripples" in the water - it is best to just sit still in the boat and wait - dont sell with a loss, then its not a loss. You still have the coins you bought. Never ever use money you can't loose on crypto - the last sentence cannot be stressed enough.

I wish they would just sell it of - so I could buy some of them very cheap. Have that hanging over the market, that there is a possibility that they would just drop the bag into the market. They could for instance be auctioned of or something. So everyone has the chance to acquire one of them? How it is now, remaining bitcoins is said to be distributed to stakeholders, how on earth is that guy who where in charge of the Mt.Gox failure still in control of the bitcoins?

My thoughts is that these signature campaign is obsolete in todays social media world. They can spam telegram, Facebook, email accounts, twitter etc to promote their ICO/airdrop/Bounties.

This forums would be better off with focused discussion on real issues, ideas, Anns etc. People can still earn their bounties in the other arenas. Bitcointalk has been diluted to a point of ridicule. I wholeheartedly agree with OP, but unfortunately I do not have any merit to prove this.

Re: Which coin will go 10x soon
by

10x soon is a lot - Then you need to have something very cool coming soon in the roadmap. And room for growth. So preferably  below 100 top coins I Imagine? I think there are a lot of possibilities to do 10x. But hitting the right horse seems kinda difficult. I really missed during Christmas. Anyway, My bets the next few months is PRL - has a SHL airdrop, ECC - there is a new cool Sapphire coming, and it is a multi chain coin. I really hope Covesting will do the trick too, beta soon. A bit of a disappointment until now.

Re: Crypto currency mining fever now hurts search for aliens.
by

Yes, and striving to better technology, even if it is fueled by the greed and the bitcoin craze. Actually this is the perfect time for growth. And even though we look for life on other planets I never see any conclusion to the footage of the aliens by the United States. It drowned in Trump-mess. If we know there is life, the uncertainty would cease. And we can focus on what we actually do not know, are there any other means of communication than light, sound, radio and radiation?

The cool thing about blockchain tech is that there will be byproducts, and the byproducts might open up to some new science. How will Satoshi be remembered in the future, like some guy who created a currency or some guy that developed a new science. Smiley Very exciting futures ahead!

Question regarding mining
by
StarLawl
on 14/02/2018, 18:33:45 UTC
I tried to find a good description for what PPSW means when it comes to pool mining and distribution of the block. But google did not return any viable answers - I only found PPS, and even that did I not understand.

Is there someone who kan ELI5 what the different PPSW and others means?

Thank you for your answer.

Re: Learnings from crash
by

I agree with most of you regarding lessons learned from this weeks Bitcoin Crash.
To sum it up:

1.Have a fund with fiat ready to use for these extremely nice sale periods.
2. If you was not able to sell prior to the dip, just hold on tight. I am very glad I never panic sold anything. I would have felt terrible selling at ATL.
3.It is OK to move between alt coins at the "bottom" if you can time it and feel you placed your bet on the wrong horse.
4.Never keep everything in alt coins - always have some btc or eth depending on where you trade.
5. Bitcoin is the mother - you should always strive to get more bitcoin(satoshi).
6. Dont trust the media
7. Bitcoin always corrects - it will never go to zero.

Re: south korea is not banning bitcoin, but why the bitcoin price is still falling?
by
StarLawl
on 04/02/2018, 19:42:32 UTC
Everyone has given good reasoning why the price is still falling. But what KellyCoin say that there is a bounce back expected is also quite true. We are entering into the Lower Lows from the last dip to below 8k - But we are all expecting the lower lows, so people sell. Weak hands are flushed out and those with balls of steel buy in.

Or those expecting it to bounce now, after the lower lows. Im trying not to look at the portfolio, because I know this is temporary and the market, as a whole, will bounce back.

Those selling, those are the ones at risk, as they might be hit by FOMO if they do not enter prior to the bounce, because when Bitcoin goes up, it goes fast.

Re: I done good posts but not receive any merit

putting any effort into it. Please lock it, before it becomes a Spam Megathread.

Off Topic and just to ask you about Spam Megathreads.

1. I love that term, It emphasises what is wrong with this forum, all threads are at a risk of becoming SPMT´s. Is that a new saying or something you invented? I am quite new on this forum so I do not have the complete history.

2. What would be the solution to all SPMT´s? Is that not locking them, or deleting them? Thus deleting the post history and every activity and merit earned by that SPMT´s.

That would be great - I replied in earnest to a few of those threads, and most likely some of those I have replied to has later become Spam Megathreads. But I would not mind - If it would rid some garbage away.

But in retrospect. Would "Goldmining" good threads(locking them)
and LocknDelete SPMT´s be a new step in the right direction?

Ps: would have merited you if I had any Smiley

Re: Greed or banning for reason!?! ICOs, AIRDROPs.
by
StarLawl
on 30/01/2018, 22:14:41 UTC
I am trying to participate in my first airdrop - I am a bystander as per now. But many people are very greedy - also a reason for all the ICO scams and all. Im not sure they are directly evil. Maybe just very egosentric and not empathic. Or they have their personal reasons which could mitigate scamming. But where I am going to participate there are several examples of people stealing other peoples written works and ideas to recieve bounties and airdrops.

This is not OK - people are working to produce that stuff. And everyone should respect that. But then there are others who are envious or lack the skills. Not everyone is a writer. They could of course: So I feel that banning people who does not produce quality or try to scam is very good.

And it should be strict. Shows the organizers are paying attention.

We just started mining this - to check if there is any profitability for two 1080ti´s. I see the positive responses to the tech and wonder if it is worth it setting up a master node? Not that we plan to, it is too much to invest without having "old" crypto money.

What happens with the 1000 coins you have in your wallet? It is an investment I understand, and you need to have 1000 at all times, but how is it paying of?

Re: Your Blockfolio today and why is that tanking!
by
StarLawl
on 28/01/2018, 22:06:16 UTC
I want to talk about the coin tanking my portfolio today because the reason why it is doing so is so obvious! Well - I have recently invested a few 100 dollars in something called ECC. You can check it out at ECC.network. Well, anyhow, the hype, as usual, lead to a major increase in price, it was up 40% leading to some very good Blockfolio numbers.

There was a countdown on the page, they were launching a new web site.

Cryptomarket do what cryptomarked does best, hypetrain with moons and lambos on Telegram. I could not understand the fuss, It was just a new webpage and a new roadmap.

Anyhow - not, almost 24 hours after it is tanking, just as usual. The pump and dump groups have exploited it and now they are creating FUD because there has not been a wallet release? the wallet was never announced to be released. The webpage is there, the roadmap is there. But no-one understands they have been pumped and dumped. So they dump even more.

I almost want to buy more just for this bargain. OMG - but it is high risk high reward, and I don't want to risk any more. But I am back at entry now. Smiley

Please appreciate the work and press that Merit button!

No! First, you shouldn't be asking for Merit. Second, you haven't done anything yet. You've created a thread to talk about an idea that is already in existence in the community and then offered one review of Binance. [/b]

How about this...

(1) Instead of asking for merit, do some work, make your contribution (for the contribution's sake) and if you happen to get merit it'll be a fortunate surprise.

I was actually not writing a professional review - my review is from a "newbie" point of view. I will change how I phrased the merit question.  Everyone can go into crypto compare - I did see the reviews there, they weren't good. Anyhow. You are clearly not a newbie. So this isn't for you. ^^notice the headline?

And if the option is to mainstream all posts into your format then there isn't any point in writing anything here because it does not measure up to your standards? I write one review per week I have stated. I spend time on it, with kids and all I cannot  write everything in one sitting.

Thanks for sharing! I also a newbie, looking now for better exchanges than just using Coinbase lol Tongue

Another thing u should check I think it's fees, u know? to move the cryptos also out from the exchange

Thank you for the tips - I will update it withdrawals with fees. But when it comes to exchanges fees are different for each coin - So when it comes to withdrawals I always go for NEO if possible. It is still free. Wink Next week I will review BitFinex Smiley

First Exchange up – my second exchange experience
Binance

According to CoinMarketCap on the 25th of January, Binance is the number one exchange with a trading volume of $2,814,627,985.

Registration:
My second registration ever was to this exchange, a bit terrifying for a first timer, the registration was simple and easy compared to Bitfinex – which actually gave it a sense of “cheapness” compared to the intricate system on my first exchange. Suddenly I had an unverified account and I was ready to trade! The excitement was real and the trade was on! 2Fa and all – security was as good as it gets with that. For an unverified account that you are allowed to withdraw up to 2 BTC of I give the Registration the following score:
6/10
There would be a higher score if you had to get verified to start trading. I feel the low entry registration diminish the confidence in the exchange to a degree.

Overview:
The front page is kind of messy – all the action is difficult to understand from a newbies perspective. I registered at the same time as a less tech savvy friend and even though I was new too I had to guide him through the ropes. Your main entry points are Exchange – there you can choose between advanced and basic trading view. Personally, I feel the basic is best for us Newbies – later when we understand more about the indicators and trend lines we could look at the more advanced trading. But for starting up and just buying the coins you like, use the basic. The other page you are interested in is the Funds page – you can choose to see your balance, your deposit history and withdrawal history. The newest feature is a transaction page which shows all your deposits and withdrawals. The next link is for Orders – Open orders are your orders that are not executed or just partially executed. Order history is all your placed orders – both executed trades and cancelled orders, finally you have trades – this is excluding cancelled orders, and are a good tool to determine what you need to sell your coins for not to take a loss. The final interesting page is your account page where you set your security, change password or verify account.  Contests with prizes does not promote the impression of the exchange in my opinion – so not full score.
8/10
The overview is very easy to navigate when you get the complete picture. A simple and cool trade page sorted on the major trading pairs they offer. Will not get top scores from me since it was clearly not that intuitive for everyone.

Trading
Binance trading interface is very easy to understand. It supports three methods of orders. Limit – the best way to trade – you decide what you want for your coin or what you want to give. Market – you buy directly from the sellers or sell directly to the buyers. stop / limit. As a newbie – stay away from this one. I lost some money in the start from not understanding the concept. And it is different from selling and from buying. If you want to test it, do it with a small amount. But it goes something like: if you hit a certain level – put up a sell order or a buy order with a certain limit. A way of “buying the dip” or “selling the top” without sitting in front of the pc. Or limiting your losses. The trading on Binance is a bit stressful for a new trader. There is a lot of pump and dump groups doing their thing, and us newbs are easily caught up in the exiting rise of a coin and loose our gains. So as a newbie I lost some cash on said exciting rise. Another fucked up, pardon my French, thing with Binance is the petty cash left in each coin when you trade. I did my fair share of flipping on Binance, because it is so easy and fast. I moved all assets which was possible to move to another exchange – and I still have 12 dollars left divided on many coins. I will never get those back. It is extremely negative trait. Not only do they take fees, they take money.
5/10
Easy to trade, easy to lose money, loads of pump and dump action and they take more than just the fees.

Sense of Security
This is just my sentiment – but with 2fa and email confirmation you as a customer is in line in standard as most other exchanges.  My feeling, on the other hand, is that as an exchange Binance is under a lot of pressure as the number one in volume, and customers are under a constant pressure for being scammed. Binance have not proven themselves how they handle a cyber-attack or how they handle funds getting stolen. It is first after an incident like that – and the following actions to reimburse those who lost(like Bitfinex did) I will feel good about my assets at Binance. But until then it is a risk, as everything else in crypto.
7/10
There is good security with both 2Fa and email confirmation – Quite the Standard in exchanges today. Nothing magical and not proven if funds get stolen.

Deposit and Withdrawal
Depositing into Binance is easy as pie – and the withdrawal fees are not that high. But not being able to withdraw the small amounts makes me leave the damn thing with a 12-dollar balance in their favour with no possibility to gather or withdraw the said amount. Other exchanges do not leave your wallets full of small pennies when you withdraw. So, this is something they should fix ASAP. Other than that, I have had no issues with the Deposit or Withdrawal functions on Binance.
6/10
Could not withdraw all my funds, but easy and simple.

All in all, I give it a total score of 6,4/10

TLDR: Binance is a quick and easy exchange – but a little too fast for a Newbie and easy to get caught up in the exciting world of day trading or pump and dumps. It is very natural to lose money when things go quickly and you act without thinking. The contests and prizes add to the uncertainty of the validity of the coins they are promoting.

A jungle of Exchanges – reviewed by a newbie to other newbies
by
StarLawl
on 26/01/2018, 23:24:57 UTC
Work in progress!!
I am one of the late comers in the trade of cryptocurrency – and in the ever-growing jungle of exchanges it is easy to get lost. I want to review my experiences with the different exchanges purely based on my own impressions. I hope some of you guys will find it useful or just funny.

There will be 5 scores per exchange – max score is 10 per score:
•   Registration
•   Overview
•   Trading
•   Sense of Security
•   Deposit and Withdrawal

All the exchanges are where I have registered to buy a coin or trade. I will include some facts from Coinmarketcap. If someone else wants to contribute to this thread I welcome the contribution! I will most likely just be able to review once per week as I want this to be a quality thread with quality content.

Everyone is adviced to do their own due diligence as well! And you can find a lot of useful information on Cryptocompare, but are they paid? There is a lot of money involved so I don’t know.  Anyhow here is the list of what I have reviewed so far:
Binance

If you like it remember to press that +Merit button! Also open to constructive feedback! If you want to review one on your own please do!

A new day. A new tank!

Today the biggest looser on my BlockFolio app is ECC token. But that is only natural. It was a whooping 40% increase yesterday. And I welcome the correction of 13 % - I really hope this is a steady climber, new web page released in 1 day and 8 hours according to webpage. Looking forward to what the new dev has planned and what the roadmap will be. And really hopes it stops tanking Smiley
