Where can I find the information that explains the overclocking settings: core mhz, memory mhz, power limit, target temperature, minimum fan speed?

I don't understand how to keep the wallet synced. It took forever to sync, but I thought that was just the initial syncing. A few days of not syncing and I'm at 4,172,778 of 4,184,728, and it uses as much as 2500 MB of the memory and 12 MB/s of the disk. Please advise.

I wouldn't mind if it ran at less than 100 MB, like, say, the Curecoin wallet does, but over 1500 MB is ridiculous.

I'm always several thousand blocks behind when I start the wallet the next day. I don't see this with other wallets. What causes so many transactions to take place on the Mintcoin network?

Thanks for all the tips!

For those of you who would not invest in a rig now: What would you do with the money in the crypto scene?

My first mining rig: Help me choose the components
by

I'm in the process of setting up my first (6-card, I think) mining rig, and I'm having a hard time understanding especially how to choose the GPU.

With comparisons where everything seems to be the same: https://www.asus.com/Product-Compare/?products=nrWaZwKol5KpK4Ud,rxhpVSuR74480kni,1zMvS5oNHEGDTh6Q,CMs4PT6WuXXtfMP0&b=0 how would you know which of these four to choose?

Here are two with a $100 price difference. Are these good prices, and why choose the most expensive:

$750: https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1080-GAMING-X-8G.html#hero-overview

$850: https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1080-SEA-HAWK-X.html#hero-overview

--------------

For PCU I assume two of these will do: https://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=220-G2-0750-XR

--------------

For CPU I'm thinking of buying a high-end one if there are coins that can be mined with CPU. Please advise.

--------------

8 GB RAM is enough for GPU mining, right? Should this be higher if I decide to CPU mine?

--------------

For MOBO I see the Z270 mentioned a lot. My local shop sells 15, ranging from $150 to $350. Anything I need to know before choosing one?

--------------

Will any old HDD do, or should I choose, say, a 128 GB SSD? I'm planning on using Ubuntu.

--------------

And unless I'm missing something, I need these to complete the rig: http://www.ebay.com/itm/6X-USB-3-0-PCI-E-Express-1xTo16x-GPU-Extender-Riser-Card-Adapter-Power-BTC-Cable-/263070689562

To use Doge and Cure as examples: 1700 MB and 65 MB, respectively. Why? I have no idea, but someone is doing it "wrong" (from a noob's perspective).

I'm talking about RAM; not disk space.

Then it makes no fucking sense that it took many weeks for me. Anyway: The wallet uses around 1200 MB of memory, which is ridiculous when other wallet makers are able to create wallets that run below 200 MB.

The blocks seem to have "loosened" up a bit Wink. I let the PC run 24/7, and there are now 4924 blocks remaining.

Thanks!

It's using 1 134 MB. Should I let it run or bootstrap it?

Sounds like your downloading blocks?
Yes, I'm downloading the blockchain(?). Sorry, but not sure if I understand the question.

There are 11 connections, and I've been trying for weeks to get up to speed. Does it make sense that at one point there were 197701 blocks remaining and then when the process halts and I restart the wallet, it starts at 828822?

The bootstrap crashed the wallet.

I can't get the wallet synchronized. Every time I open it the blocks remaining change:

625840
841766
197701
828822
826116
