Which drivers do you have installed specifically? May give us an idea of the problem/conflict.

Re: What happened to GPU mining (late March 2018)?

The whole market is down. I'm mining with 570s currently and the difficulty + price has been a nightmare. Not sure mining is dead though, just hopefully in a rut.

Re: Should I buy a new gaming PC to also mine?

It's fine to have a dual machine, but a couple things to understand:

To get the most out of your GPU, you will need to BIOS mod it, and potentially use different drivers, plus overclocking it for mining. All of these things are not really something you can do while also using that GPU for gaming, at least I wouldnt recommend it.

If you are fine not having an optimized card, just keep in mind you will drastically reduce the lifespan of the card, and may see some issues while gaming. Heat may also quickly become an issue in a standard closed gaming case.

Re: Building Multi GTX 750Ti Mining Rig

How much is your rig going to cost compared to the cards? Keep in mind that the better your cards are, the quicker you pay off your initial investment on the rig itself.

It's not really worth it to spend money on hardware to run older cards, will take a long time to pay off the PSU/Mobo/RAM, etc.

New coins/tokens are being created just as quickly as those switching to PoS or ASIC. I'm not sure if coins in the top 10 will be viable for GPU mining, but there will always be something to point your rig at.

CPU mining is another matter though. I wonder what percentage of it is used by botnets.

I like the idea, but I don't like the "social proof" aspect. Feel like it's forcing me to post on social and whatnot to participate.

You should be fine to mine something like Cryptonote for a while, but with only 4GB of memory stuff like Ethereum is out of the question.

As far as I've researched though the 1050s are not super great for mining overall.

Using KYC as sales data is extremely illegal. If you see that, report it immediately.

You can either look at mining as a hobby or a source of income as the primary driver.

I think even for a dollar or so a day it's a pretty fun hobby to mess around with, learn more about hardware, tech, and the crypto space in general.

Box fan, cheap, easy to replace, lot's of airflow and more effective than messing with a bunch of small fans that don't do as good of a job at dissipating heat from around the rig.

Out of curiosity, how much power do those two fans pull?

Re: What is the most profitable coin for mining?
by

on 23/02/2018, 21:53:33 UTC
Impossible question to answer.

Depends entirely on your hardware, and it can change daily based on difficulty and market price.

As others have said, look up your hardware online and compare hashrates with different coins.

I would be careful as well with which risers + power adapters you are using, as the Vegas pull a lot of juice.

Re: Easy mineable coins - 2018 ?
by

on 21/02/2018, 17:38:25 UTC
Depends what you mean.

Low difficulty and ease of mining doesn't mean higher profitability.

For example, Bytecoin is super easy to mine, but I would be hesitant to choose it over something more "difficult" like Monero.

For pure CPU mining I would look at cryptonote coins specifically.

If you're getting it to game with primarily, it could earn a few dollars on the side.

However, from the research I've done the ROI isn't really there for a 1050, from a pure mining perspective.

Always thought Electrum was a popular choice and it actually is for many people.
So I think they'll resolve their issues, it's been around for so long.

Core seems to be the best way to go If you don't mind running a full node.

Re: Is Ledger Nano S REALLY SAFE ?? Best Hardware Wallet ?

Just generate address/private key pairs and keep them safe.

Hardware wallets are probably best for new comers, they are handy and they are compatible with many tokens.

For people that can generate and manage their own addresses safely maybe there's no need for a hardware wallet.

Re: Will we ever see 20k+ again?
by

on 25/01/2018, 09:58:12 UTC
A new dip is expected on Jan 26th. (more information https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHGVJhimEZ8) I think this dip will give the market the momentum it needs to break through again and possibly reach 20k 'shortly'

Interesting point of view, skeptical of predictions but it could go either way.

Be nice to see 20K or over hitting soon, it will generate some nice momentum.
