Re: AMD Mem Tweak XL - Read/modify timings/pp/straps on the fly

I gotta say, this tool is cool as hell.

Although, I'm having some trouble with it. Probably because I'm a noob.

I went ahead and downloaded it and installed it, manually with the terminal, running HiveOS, the VEGA supported version.

I'm running 6x 1070s, 1x 1070ti, and 4x Vega 64s.

The trouble I'm having is HiveOS kinda sucks at overclocking when it comes to AMD. Claymore isn't doing the job either; and my Linux illiteracy and lack of Google returns isn't helping.

I love how you can modify the hell out of the stuff with this tool, but I can't seem to get the GUI working so I can modify the DPM/Memstates (which, honestly, is all I'm tryna do). Is there a way to get the GUI working in HiveOS that I just don't know about? Or a command line? Or do I just suck at life?

Hello Claymore!

I've been using your Miner for about a year now, and I love it. I haven't had any major issues with it, and 99.99% of them were of my own doing, and the .01% I have found a workaround for.

However, at the moment, when I set -powlim to -30, my 6x GTX 1070's and 1x GTX 1070ti ignore the command.

Right now I'm gonna use Afterburner as a workaround, but I prefer doing all of my clocking using your program.

The 6 have been working fine prior, and I have not tested it without the ti, mainly because it would defeat the purpose.

Has anyone else reported this?

Thank you! I <3 your software man.

@leonix007:

Tried that, no change in fault, besides cmd will actually run for about 3 seconds longer than before. Still aborts on its own w/ no warning, fault codes, or alerts from Windows Defender/Firewall.

@edwardceng

Never heard of that before, I'll try it out and get back to you on that. Might take me a moment though. As far as patience... I've worked on cars my whole life. If it weren't for that, I'd have given up and sold off my mining equipment forever ago!
----EDIT----
Looked it up and all, but that's currently un-related. As of right now, I'm just trying to get the Nvidia cards to run. If the AMD cards give me hell later, I'll try it out.

[SOLVED] Requesting ETH Mining Assistance! (OS Crashes)
by
SulliJM1
on 10/01/2018, 19:55:21 UTC
---Solution---
Runs with extreme stability if I start two instances of Claymore. Using the -di command, I set one instance to use only AMD cards and the other to use only the nVidia cards.

---Problem---

While running Claymore V10.3, the entire computer locks up and dies without giving me so much as a BSOD. From there, the GPUs go crazy, either they shut down completely or the fan speeds ramp up to 100%. Eventually the system stabilizes, but Windows never re-boots, and I must perform a hard re-boot of the system.

Setup is as follows:

Biostar TB250-BTC PRO Motherboard
Intel Core i5-7600
CORSAIR HX1200i
1TB HDD
2x Geil ECO SPEAR 8GB RAM

-GPUs-
4x EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Black Edition
2x Sapphire Radeon RX VEGA 64

-GUI-
Claymore 10.3

-Drivers-
GeForce V390.65
AMD Adrenalin 17.12.2

-OS-
Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

I've tried quite a couple of things, as follows:
-Monitoring CPU and RAM performance. CPU maintains 30C-40C in each core, no more than 40% load; RAM maintains no more than 30% load. Virtual RAM set to 32000MB.
-Reseating RAM, multiple times.
-Removing, cleaning, re-applying compound, and re-installing CPU cooler (stock).
-Monitoring Corsair LINK. Never goes over 1000W input (1100W Max using Crimson BETA Blockchain Driver)
-Running only AMD cards.
-Running only nVidia cards.
-Starting Claymore with no cards, slowly ramping up cards one at a time. This results in running longer, but still crashes the OS.
-Running one stick at a time in both RAM slots. No noticeable difference for either stick in either slot.
-Fresh install of Windows 10.

I've noticed a few other things as well.
-Still crashes whether cards are clocked or stock.
-Crashes regardless of Blockchain or Adrenalin drivers.
-Crashed before GeForce drivers were installed, but still mined just fine before crashing.
-Runs stable using WinETH GUI (but that GUI kind of sucks, and does not allow for expansion).

I also have issues with the AMD cards hanging in OpenCL, but I will troubleshoot that once I can get the system to run with some sort of stability.

The issue started on 08JAN18, running a very dirty copy of Windows 10 (by which I mean it was a duplicate of my laptop, plagued with minor adware, games, etc, but it ran GREAT). I was running Claymore V10.0 and the Crimson Beta Blockchain Driver. I'm not sure, but I think Windows released an update around that time, I don't remember if I installed it or not. I started having the crashes every few hours, so I decided to update Claymore and AMD to Adrenalin. After that, it only got worse, so I did a clean install of Windows 10, only to see that issues have continued, in their worsened state. I am lucky to get 5 minutes of mining, running only the nVidia cards.

Notes:
-All risers are powered externally, manufactured by Corn Electronics.
-The only pieces of non-mining software installed are Google Chrome, World of Warcraft, and Corsair LINK.
-Using AMD Wattman and PrecisionXOC for my clocking tools.
-Windows runs just fine without running Claymore (at least, as far as Google, YouTube, and this forum go), have not tested other loads (IE WoW or other games).

Any and all help would be very much so appreciated.

Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread
by

Hi!

Install of cgminer went smooth as hell, which I am very thankful for, considering I am a total noob.

I recently bought 2x BM1384 2pac's from eBay, from eyebootlimited.

I'm running both miners on a USB3.0 hub on a Raspberry Pi 3, running Raspbian.

Running cgminer 4.9.2 downloaded directly from this forum.

I have to use the sudo command in order to start cgminer.

The problem I am having is that cgminer will not detect the miners. I have attempted plugging a miner directly into the RPi, still no dice.

I've yet to mess with any kind of voltage settings, running at 150MHz on Nicehash's solo pool.

When I open known USB devices, it shows only one USB stick but says "Bus 1 Device 31 ID: 10c4:ea60 GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Bitcoin Miner inactive
2 total known USB devices"

I know the USB 3.0 hub is not the source of my grief. I've used a external hard drive as well as my mouse/keyboard receiver in all the ports, just to make sure, and all ports work just fine.

How do I fix something like this?

Shared-Power Mining (S7)
by
SulliJM1
on 19/09/2017, 10:16:59 UTC
Hello, and yes, new to mining.

I recently purchased 2x S7 miners and, after much difficulty, finally have both of them running.

I have one miner dedicated entirely to one pool, the other I'd like to split the hashpower between a regular mining pool and a solo pool.

When I enter the pools, rather than split the hashpower equally, it seems to dedicate the #1 entered pool as the primary, and not do anything with the other two.

Is there any way to adjust this, so that the split miner will dedicate half of it's power to the regular pool, and the other half to the solo pool?

Thank you!

Brand New to Mining!
by
SulliJM1
on 19/08/2017, 02:32:55 UTC
Hello! I am SulliJM1!

I am pretty much brand new to mining. I have some hashpower on Genesis and Hashflare, but I'm trying to get my own hardware setup going. My goal is to one day build a solar-powered mining farm in my hometown (my parents installed solar panels after I moved out, and I'm trying to buy said house that they are selling).
------------------------------------------------
So, a little bit about my situation and such;

I am currently living in Japan. The power here is a bit pricey, but it's paid for (up to a point) by my occupation.

I have a couple thousand dollars for starting capital, and my job provides me with decent startup-cash. I can also easily take a low-interest loan if I think necessary. I'd like to RoI on new equipment somewhere in the 5-7 month timeframe.

Moving on-
I purchased two (2) S7 miners on eBay, along with a single Amity Labs 2880W Power Supply. They haven't arrived yet, I'm hoping to see them in the next week or two.

I've always been interested in mining with USB sticks, but that seems no longer feasible. I was wondering if I could get some opinions on that?

I also have NO idea which pools to use. I've been doing research, but I'd also appreciate some recommendations.

Also, getting top-of-the-line hardware (S9s, L3+'s, D3's) is a pain! Is it worth paying the ridiculous amount of money that they pop up on eBay for, or am I better off trying to get them from BitMain direct?

Another note- I'm not dead-set on my equipment being from BitMain. If anybody has any recommendations, I will gladly listen to them.

[SCAM DETECTED] New Bitmain Re-sale sites....

Hello. I am SulliJM1, this is my first forum post. To get this out of the way; I made an account just so I can post this.

So I found a website recently, https://topminersellers.com

At first it looks pretty legit, until you go to the top of the page and try to look at their other "Top X". Once you mess with the address bar to make it work right, you can pull up, for example, "Top Bitcoin Credit Cards" (When you click, address bar displays "https://topminersellers.com/###https://topminersellers.com/top-cards", just erase the junk). If you do that, you will find a VERY broken version of the website.

NOTE: I intended to upload pictures; I will do so later if able, but at the moment I am unable.

Anyways, the site is already sketchy due to their listings, in this order:
#1 Bitmain.com
#2 Bitmainware.com
#3 ProBitMiners.com
#4 Amazon.com
#5 Ebay.com

It's plain to see on the site, they seem to encourage #2 and #3, because it displays that miners are in-stock and for a medium price range.

If you navigate to the 2 websites, you will find the following:
1.) Decently built websites, at least, to my rudimentary eyes.
2.) Decent prices. Higher than Bitmain direct, but much lower than Amazon or Ebay.
3.) S9s, L3+s, R4s, and D3s in stock, but not AWP3++'s, or in the case of #3, R1s. (TL;DR, only the expensive stuff is available).
4.) In the case of #3, they offer a cloud mining service via Genesis Mining, and have 2 "testimonials" on their front page.

HERE'S THE BEST (SKETCHIEST) PART!

I did some WhoIs digging on all three sites. I found very similar results for all three websites. I could of course be reading it all wrong, but it all looks the same to me, with slightly different dates.
LINKS:
https://www.whois.com/whois/topminersellers.com
https://www.whois.com/whois/bitmainware.com
https://www.whois.com/whois/probitminers.com

Another piece, if nothing else at this point, just for kicks, I opened a live chat with ProBitMiners. I will copy and paste the conversation (for your entertainment value), and upload a screenshot in the future if I ever get that part figured out.

Hello. I am exploring your site, and have done some digging in on it. The website is very well built, however; there are a few things skeptical. I am interested in buying product, however I'd like to ask a few questions first, if you do not mind.

Welcom

How in the HELL do you work for a site for "6 mounths"  Cheesy if the site itself is 4 days old?!  Huh

Anyways, the whole point of me creating this thread is because after Googleing these two sites, I found next to nothing, so I thought I'd try to be the first to bring it up. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

To the admin: If I put this in the wrong spot, you have my apologies.
